Both men are the epitome of mid-card champion in my opinion and we all know they're both destined for main event status within the next year.

So....simple question. Who is better?

I enjoy Ziggler ringwork even more than Cody's. My vote goes to him, but only marginally, Cody is also fantastic and I find him a bit better on the microphone.

I have been a huge fan of Ziggler and I still am, but after listening to both of their promos on RAW this past Monday, I feel like Rhodes has a bit more depth to his mic skills. And I'm more interested in his character and where he can go as a heel...he's much less of a stereotypical heel than Ziggler.

Not Ziggler's fault, and Vicky always lends mad heat to him, but I'm really excited about Rhodes character at this point.

how is cody the epitome of mid card champion dont get me wrong hes good but he should be going for the world championship. ziggler defends his title all the time. i cant remember the last time cody seriously defended his title. He needs to lose it so he can go for the bigger picture

I may sound like a asshole saying this but i feel somebody has to.

ziggler and rhodes for the world titles?

I bet those of you who believe it are the same people who said jack swagger was a main eventer caliber player couple years ago and morrison will become champion by end of 2011.

Sorry you were all wrong!
-ziggler and rhodes are drawing no reaction at all.
-both of them still dont have that one long-term defining feud and match that makes you wonder if he can go for the world title. (rhoses short term feud with orton was great though). Yes ziggler have had great matches but the problem is they're random matches, just like last night)
-rhodes mic skill is ok but ziggler still is decent.

Remember rapper cena and evolution orton? both of them draw face/heel reaction, have multiple memorable matches, have that one defining feud and draw ppl attention with their mic skill.

orton vs foley
orton vs edge
cena vs booker t
cena vs taker

That is an interesting and difficult question for sure. For Dolph he has good enough mic skills and is amazing in the ring with a legit wrestling background. Also, in my opinion Dolph has moreso paid his dues than Cody has. For me too, his past 5 or so matches have been amazing with exception to the Mason Ryan ones.

On the other hand, Rhodes is better on the mic, a great performer in the ring but no wrestling background. Plus Cody hasn't been in here as long and has had less time to gain experience. One thing Rhodes does have though is that his father and his brother are/have been in this buisness so he doesn't necessarily need that experience.

Overall I have to give the win to Dolph Ziggler. I find him completely awesome in the ring and with Vickie, his mic skills don't need to be as good as Codys.

Looking back to Rhodes when he teamed with Hardcore Holly he looked so stale, and i thought the same when he was in Legacy. My mind changed after he got on Smackdown and held his own. His recent feud witj Orton really impressed me, he has my vote. I'm not taking anything away from Ziggler because he too is very talented and in long run I can see him in the main event as well as Cody.

Ziggler he in my opinion has more upside. Rhodes is a great wrestler but Dolph has the it factor and I look for him to be a WWE champ in the future.

It's a difficult question to answer because both these guys are damn good. I'm sorry but you just have to be an absolutely closed minded fool or complete WWE hater to not be able to see that both these guys are stars and are going to be in the main event picture at some point in the future.

Both Ziggler & Rhodes have worked hard to get their current spots. Cody Rhodes has just consistently and steadily improved since the split of Legacy. When he & DiBiase faced Randy Orton at WM 26, they both still seemed like scrubs. Since that time, Rhodes has come into his own and has improved in every relevant area where a wrestler might need it. He grew as a character, grew in mic skills, learned how to tell a story inside the ring and has been easily the best IC champ of 2011. His feud with Randy Orton really, really increased his stock. He did have one victory over Orton but he still came out on the losing end. He did ultimately, however, come out looking like a star and his feud with Orton did do good things for the IC title. As I've said in other posts, when's the last time a guy who was a World Champion at this time 5 months ago and a 9 time World Champion overall feuded with a reigning mid-card champ?

When it comes to Dolph Ziggler, Ziggler is someone that's scrapped and clawed for every inch of ground he's gained in WWE. Ziggler was always a solid performer but I really started to become a fan of him after he won the IC title. He was an ideal IC champ that defended the title a lot, had memorable matches, interesting feuds, elevated the status of the title and was thereby elevated because of the title. In 2010 and 2011, Ziggler has been in some incredible matches where he's just flat out looked like a star against John Cena, Randy Orton, Edge, Daniel Bryan and CM Punk. The only thing missing from Ziggler was that we didn't really know much on him as a character or on the mic. The WWE has used Ziggler's time as United States Champion to build a presence for his on-screen character. He's gotten some real mic time, he's dramatically improved as a character, he carries himself like a star and has become quite solid on the mic where I think he can only improve as time goes on. Ziggler has had the goods inside the ring, I think that's been pretty obvious for a long time. Now that he's developed and continues to develop his character and his mic skills, I can't see him going anywhere but up.

In my view, no matter which guy you choose, I don't think you're really gonna go wrong. Personally, I'm giving the edge to Ziggler. He shines inside the ring and I think if he ever gets some lengthy promo time, he'll be able to shine on the mic.

I admire both Ziggler and Rhodes, they are both future world champions and the future of the WWE.

Ziggler- Amazing in the ring, Mic skills improving, and seems to be only over with the Internet Wrestling Fans, I mean let's face it...do the regular TV audience know wtf #heel means on his new attire?

Cody- Improving in the ring--not at the level that dolph is but its good, Mis skills are excellent--especially at his young age HE HAS ROOM TO GROW OVER THE YEARS, wayyy overrr with the fans (SURVIVOR SERIES PROVES THIS) that love heels as well as some fans who like faces as well.

But my personal pick?

Cody Rhodes.

Well I made a thread JUST like this about a month back. This is the second Ziggler, Rhodes thread i've put this on today.

As for the thread.... just go see mine.

Excellent insight. Wait...isn't this spam?

As for me.....I decided to give the vote to Ziggler. I feel like they're both even in terms of in ring ability and character development. Ziggler only gets the edge because I am personally more interested in his character than Cody's. I'm a huge fan of both though.

did anyone notice how the crowd was behind cody in the survivor series match when he did the cross roads on mason ryan, the crowd then chanted cody cody...even sheamus turned to randy and said do u hear them... cody is on his way good to see he got himself a pair of knee pads.

rhodes. ziggler does absolutely nothing for me on the mic, much like del rio (although he can at least speak proper english) and i cant think of one really great feud he's had whereas rhodes vs orton was great

Cody Rhodes clearly is earmarked for main event. Hes not jobbing to nobodies like Zack Ryder in tag and singles matches. Hes not weighed down with Vickie Guerrerro stealing his heat. Cody Rhodes has got himself over when everybody expected Ted DiBiASE to get the mega push. Rhodes size works against him for a serious World Title push, but he could be a very dominant upper mid card guy for the future. Ziggler needs to lose Guerrero and get a serious edge to his character, as he is a joke at present. He has all the tools, excellent in ring and promos but Vince is not pushing him as a serious threat to anybody.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Rhodes get a huge pop during his entrance at SS? Anyway, back to topic. I think Rhodes should be in the main event picture. Not winning World Titles, but at least challenging for them. He is constantly evolving into a main-eventer.

Both guys have it as it stands now.
so suprised how well Cody has turned out.

For me personally i go with Ziggler, he just moves, looks like and has that cocky attitude of Mr Perfect if he should drop Vicky he doesn't need her anymore.

Too bad we can't get Bobby Heenan back, he woulda been a perfect choice for Ziggler.

Cody is good but i dunno his voice is a bit Zzzz though he still talks the talk.

no doubt both are the top 2 mid carders in wwe right now and both are very different people there pretty equal on the mic i think but in ring wise i gotta say dolph is much better hes been around longer (counting spirt squad) and i dont think ive seen a BAD dolph ziggler match..ever! i mean right now i think ziggler could drop the us title to ryder next week and be dumped by vickie and he would still be able to have a great fued with cm punk over the wwe title (im hoping their match on raw was a preview for wrestlemania) i mean codys getting there with being main event ready but right now hes perfect for his role

Cody Rhodes without a doubt. Ziggler needs Vickie to get heat, then swagger to add to Vickie's stable, not ziggler's. Ziggler has been in mid card limbo for so long, and i just dont see what is going to bring him out of it. he is a stereotypical heel that is admittingly great in the ring.
Cody on the other hand seemed to have everything against him. He was buried by orton (which he should have been to get orton over as a mega face,) then given the shitty gimmick of pretty boy, but he made it work. When he turned demented, he was destined for the main event. He is a completely different type of heel imo, and i think it will do wonders in the long run.
Ziggler will get there, but Cody will be the bigger of the two w/o a doubt.

These two are why I know that the future of the WWE is bright, these two are going to be the leaders of the next generation and one day become the biggest stars in the business and the faces of the company. When it comes down to deciding which man is the better superstar it's very difficult to say, they are both uber talented and still have tons of growing to do as superstars.

Ziggler I would say is the guy who worked his ass off more than most of the younger talent to get to where he is now, and through his hard work and dedication he has become one of the best in ring technicians currently on Raw. His match on monday with CM Punk was in my opinion second only to Randy Orton's match on Smackdown against Christian five days after Extreme Rules. Those two put on a match for the ages and not only did it show that Punk is a great leader for the red brand, but that Ziggler is the man who will be taking that spot someday in the relatively near future. Dolph has the look and he has the talent, the only area that he is close to lacking in is his promo abilities but he is improving there every time I see him and I think his breaking off from Vicki will be the moment that we finally see Ziggler unleashed on the mic. Throw that all together and you have one of the most promising men in the company, I'll admit when I saw Dolph Ziggler back in the day I didn't think much of him and I didn't expect much. Now I see that man possibly being one of the faces of WWE one day, he has improved tremendously in the last two years and I respect the hell out of him for gritting his teeth and working his ass off to get to the top.

Cody is equally impressive, this year has definitely been the best of his career and he has evolved into the true form of a future world champion, in looks, composure and abilities. I have been blown away by Cody's transformation from a skinny good looking kid into a chisled confident man who I could see wearing the World Heavyweight Championship someday soon. I love Cody and I think that from everything he has done lately he will be one of the biggest stars in the WWE in the future, but when it comes down to picking between these two men I give the edge to Ziggler because I have enjoyed watching him grow and he has been delivering the kind of matches that remind you why we watch wrestling, but both men are amazing athletes who have already become more than I ever imagined, and this is only the beginning from Cody and Dolph.

Personally I think Rhodes is better. He seems more diversely talented particularly on the microphone and looks to me like he has the ability to draw emotion from the crowd better.
Ziggler seems too much of a one dimensional brat type of character. Rhodes is more of the type of heel that you love to hate who makes you laugh and can be surprising at times. Ziggler is the type of heel who has me reaching for the remote or if I'm at the show my cue to offload some of the beer.

Both guys are damn good in the ring. Rhodes is better on the mic but Dolph has improved significantly. You can't go wrong with either choice. But if you asked me, I'd go with Rhodes.

Some say that Rhodes has ridden his father's way into the company but I just don't see it that way. Rhodes seems to be looking to make his own legacy. I just see that fire in Rhodes and I love it. I loved his masked figure and love his character even more now that his mask is off. That street fight with Orton proved that he can hang with the best and maybe even outpop Orton, as noticed in Survivor Series.

Both guys are special, but if you asked me who I'd want to start a company with, I'd go with Rhodes. He's just got it. So does Dolph, but I believe Rhodes is on a whole new level.

Sorry you were all wrong!
-ziggler and rhodes are drawing no reaction at all.

What? Did you not watch Survivor Series? Ziggler was getting great heat while the crowd was actually chanting for Cody Rhodes.

IMO, I think they could both can go for because they have mic skills, in ring skills, and much more.

Wow this is a hard one, both are guys that I feel are the two most upraising stars, I see great things for both but as of this moment?...I would have to go with Cody by just the smallest margin. I feel that as he can go out there and get things down without the aid of a manager/Vickie he is a little above Dolph. Thats not to say I dont see Dolph doing fine once he is finally out from under Vickies wing, I think he can but since this is of this moment then since i see them as equals in their ups and downs then Cody gets it just for that reason.

WHY DO PEOPLE THINK ZIGGLER IS AMAZING?! He's basically a Shelton Benjamin - can put on classics in the ring but can't do shit on the mic. Do you guys know why they paired him up with Vickie? They did it to give him heat, so he can get booed when he comes out but unfortunately for Dolph all the heat is on her, she gets booed to the heavens when she speaks but when he speaks we hear crickets. Ziggler's promos suck and none of them have ever drawn a reaction, he will not become a world champ again soon until he A) starts developing mic skills or B) sleeps with Vince again for a 1 day (or however long it was before) title reign.

That being said, it's probably easy for you to guess think I think Cody is better. I hated him from 2007-2009 but 2011 has shown me that he has what it takes to be a memorable performer in the WWE. He has that charisma, he's worked really hard to improve his look, and his lisp that ruined every early promo he ever had is almost completely unnoticeable these days. I'm hoping the WWE listens to Dustin and puts them in a Title vs. Career match at WM!
