Zack Ryder is now a Face

SMKM

Occasional Pre-Show
I have yet to see any thread about this yet, but that'd be because not many people probably watch WWE Superstars. You read that right Ryder is now a face, he got a MASSIVE pop (mostly due to being in Long Island) and he cut a pretty good promo in my opinion. And with this face turn I smell a push, because lets face it, WWE NEEDS to push Ryder. His shirts keep selling out, he has more character and personality than half the roster, he can wrestle, and he has fans. Sure Vince might have pulled Ryder from RAW (in doing so the 3million plus that watched RAW didnt get to see this face turn) but Vince can no longer sit there and underutilize Ryder, it was a huge mistake Monday Night, and itd be a huge mistake in the long run. Ryder's a face and his fame can only increase. The Ryder Revolution is really taking off and WWE would be stupid as hell to stop now. So my only question is what do you guys think about this face turn? And do you think WWE will continue dropping the ball with Ryder or will they actually push him?

I'm not sure if he is a face or if it was just because he was in LI. Either way some one had to be the face in the match he had with Primo because they are both heels. I think either way it will be hard for Ryder to get heat because a lot of the fans love this guy right now, I watch Superstars, well I watch the Zack Ryder parts of Superstars and I can say that he, without a shadow of a doubt, got a face reaction. Turning him face would be great, Ryder could be a face just as easily as he can be a heel. That's just how good he is. I think that one of two things will happen with Ryder. Either he will get a push and be on RAW every week, or he will be pushed out of the WWE and be future endeavored, I really think that right now either of these choices are better for him right now because he is doing nothing for himself or WWE in his current spot, it isn't helping him at all, luckily Ryder is smart and self promoted.
It seems to me though that Vince has held Ryder back because of this self promotion. Ryder is a great talent, he can wrestle circles around a lot of the guys on top right now, and he can out talk most of them too. This guy is everything WWE is looking for, he can wrestle, he can talk, he is charismatic, and he is over with the crowd, all he needs is TV, and unfortunately what he can't get is TV time.

Vince knows whats good for business and there must be a compelling reason for him to not of been used on raw. There were stories that creative had "no idea what to with Ryder"and that may be true but the ultimate yay or nay was called by Vince.Im a fan of Ryders videos and can recall a great match between him and Christian over a year ago being great and entertaining, but even then Ryder had just stepped into
a huge character overhaul. The more fans voice their signboards the longer we will wait till Vince realises that Ryder will be good for business.

I just got done watching Superstars {tbh - only Ryders part of the show like bigtrav said lol :p}, and he did well playing to the crowd. He was genuinely excited to be in front of his Home Crowd.

All he needs now with this face turn {which was helariously done on his recent episode} is a few "Signature" moves. The 'Rough Ryder' is a pretty cool finisher. The 'Broski Boot' is OK; and it seems he is starting to do this "Call me" elbow drop thing during his match with Primo. The 'Woo Woo Woo' thing should hopefully catch on too. So baby steps here is a good thing :)

But I'm interested to see each week what Zack Ryder brings to the table if/when given the chance :D

I don't watch Superstars often, but I will catch this Match when I can.

I find it very interesting that Ryder has turned face, that's for sure. I mean come on though, it's Ryder! He's over with everyone thanks to his Youtube Show. Could you imagine if the "Edgeheads", those 2 Double he had just turned up, then left, never to be seen again? I doubt we'd have ever seen Ryder to be honest, so it's awesome that we do now.

TO say not using him will harm the product is daft, they don't need him, he needs WWE more then they need him. lol

If they can survive without legends and recent departure, a few hundred people chanting for Zak Ryder is not gonna sway ratings any which way.

Youtube is a minute portion of the audience, just cause he's a hit on there means nothing to them. Triple H said it, Vince no doubt thinks the same.

Zak is another Santino but a better wrestler. that's the point i think.

While i like what he does on YouTube, that doesn't mean he appeals to the masses throughout the globe, but they certainly wouldn't be harmed in giving it a chance.

He sure as hell could have a run as IC champ or Tag champ again, but nothing further IMO

Maybe that's all he wants GameOver. Certainly ANYTHING is better than being on Superstars/jobber status. Like Zack said - the reason he started the show is to get people to know him, something WWE weren't trying to do. Just a better position than what he's in now, and he's slowly getting there.

That wasn't a face turn. On Superstars a wrestler can be heel one week and face the next.

Was Edge a face at Unforgiven 2006 in Toronto? No, he was still the biggest heel in the company, he was just the hometown boy.

I think he should go face though, he always get a mixed reaction.

Take care, spike your hair.

I created this profile just to comment lol

Z! True Long Island Story is absolute gold, good on him for showing some initiative and getting his face out there!! Vince should be pleased the guy is making an effort to boost his career and make the company more money!!
Push him to the moon, he already has a good fan base and has the charisma!!

good to see his Dad and The Big O, but I would have loved to see his old man wearing his JoMo shirt haha. And yes his gf is hot as hell ( the one who played Princess Leia in his show)
When WWE comes to Perth this year ill be front row with my Zack Ryder t-shirt, my home made Internet Championship Belt and my signs!
Ryder or Riot / Zack Ryder Stole My Girlfriend / Ryder > Morrison

WOO WOO WOO YOU KNOW IT, BRO!!!

Ryder was born to be a santino-esque face. I can so easily see him being a great intercontinental champ. I hope the WWE uses this face momentum and gives him a chance. I'm not saying push him to the top right now, but if you compare him to people like Bourne, McEntyre (sorry fans, he's boring), Kingston, Kahli, and Tyson Kid, he's clearly more entertaining. Kid, Kingston, and Bourne may be more thrilling in-ring wise, but let's be honest... they can't cut a promo to save their lives. Ryder is perfect to put more interest into the mid-card titles.

I ended up watching Ryder's match on superstars after reading this thread.
Man was his pop huge, I know it was his hometown but wow.
Definitely deserves a push, whether it be heel or face.

Another Zack Ryder thread.............yawn

If he has indeed turned face, its good for him and fits in with him being friends with Cena on Raw.

A question I have however is, say he comes out to cut a promo (which WWE will write for him) none of the stuff which has made him so popular with the IWC will make it. Maybe take care spike your hair and WWWYKI but it still wont be his own personality which is ashame. Oh yeah the question, will he make that work?

I would like to see him come out and talk about how he is the interent champion, I think that would be entertaining.

Zach Ryder lol come on, he does some internet stuff and now the IWC want to see this guy more, and then want to talk about giving him some huge push. This is the reason why Bischoff laughs at the IWC and Vince could care less about them.

This guy is a jobber on Raw, his Long Island show didnt have the crowd with him until he brought Cena on ( for that brief moment ). Vince knows about his internet show and practically promotes it when you see Cena walking to the stage and you see him. internet fans know what he is doing. But to give this guy a push anything past a Santino style IC run would be stupid. Seriously do you people really think he could carry a show.

The second the WWE does push him, I GUARANTEE within 2 weeks the IWC wont like him, see the IWC only likes what they cant have e.g Orton should get te belt then he gets the belt and they call him stale and boring, The IWC asks for different people to face Cena insteaf of Orton all the time yet when they get it they complain about that too. If Morrison didnt get hurt and got his push they would have turned on him too

Seriously Ryder fans tell me what you see in this guy, he can go in the ring dont get me wrong but his character is a flash in the pan type one there as filler. You dont really think he can carry a show just because he does a little youtube show do you.

It's not just the IWC though that want to see him. I see young kids wearing Ryder shirts a lot. Granted I live in new jersey, but still. I work at a library and I have had kids come up and ask me if we have anything on Ryder. When he was on Raw 2 weeks ago a couple of my friends that are casual watchers and don't even watch his show said "Wow I miss seeing this guy." I'm sure this happens in plenty of other places as well.

I had read a few different things about how WWE had taken notice that his videos were getting him over and that people wanted to see him. I also read that Vince wanted to stick it to the internet and probably to Ryder so he pulled a face turn promo from Raw last Monday. This would mean that it makes sense that now Vince's ego is appeased he puts the turn on Superstars and will now move on with the push. I personally hope that Ryder goes to Smackdown and gets an IC title push. Hell if they were putting Mark Henry in #1 contenders matches im sure he might get a couple shots.

Zack Ryder is a nobody in the WWE. I think he has a few internet fans and some cult fans that hold signs to get on his youtube vids... and that's about it. We wasn't even in a match on RAW that took place in his HOMETOWN. So you guys are dreaming...He will never be in a title match or on a PPV...He was in the royal rumble for 43 seconds for christ sake.

Here's how Ryder could have been used on Raw rather than leaving him to rot on Superstars. Apparently Creative "didn't know how to use him", well how about this?

Start Piper's Pit off as it was, with Miz and Riley and Piper exchanging jabs. Miz then challenges Piper and says he'll bet 5K that he would win.

Piper mulls it over and then says "....no. I've been in a lot of battles in the past, but as cool as old school is, this isn't for me, but I know a kid in the back - and he's from Long Island - and he'd love to make a fool of you in his home town!"

Ohhhhhhh radioooooo tell me everything you know!

Ryder comes out and milks the crowd and runs off his catchphrases. Miz sneers, does his "really?" bit and belittles Ryder. Austin then makes the match of Ryder vs. Miz with Riley as ref.

In the match, Miz is in control but Piper does something like trips Miz up or whatever, Ryder rolls Miz up, Riley with the fast 3 count and Ryder has pinned the former champ in his home town for a feel-good moment.

Now wouldn't that have been better than Piper beating Miz!?

I truly think Ryder needs to be a tweener............a face in every practical sense, but with heel like things tied in, like the broski boot, grabbing the mic from the ring announcer, screaming "are you serious bro?" after 2 counts, etc..........that would be the best way for this to go............having him watered down and being a true good guy wouldn't work IMO.

This would have been perfect, and would have made a bunch of sense.........which is exactly why it didn't happen......wwe creative is downright putrid.

People are overrating Zack Ryder. However, I know he has talent, I watched WWECW so I know that. I would like the WWE to push him as well, since faces are far and few in the WWE nowadays. It won't be a bad idea, but the fans should just stay calm, cool, and collected ...

No. It wouldn't be better because the entire point of the Piper's Pit segment and match was to sell Miz Vs. Riley. Bringing out Ryder does not do that. It distracts from the entire purpose (in the go home show to the PPV) which is sell the PPV. You bring Ryder out then, no one in the arena focuses on the feud because they are cheering for their hometown boy.

Involving Ryder dirties the water of a clean segment. No one else needs to be involved. You have Miz getting heat making fun of Piper's real life issues, Piper giving Riley a face rub, and Riley as the ref for the quick count gets a pop.

Why does Ryder need to be in this equation other than to make internet fans (and admittedly the Nassau Coliseum crowd) mark out?
