Your Favourite Film Ever?

Uncle Sam

Rear Naked Bloke
I was asking about this the other day and I realised that some people have really, really crap choices for favourite films. I mean, what sort of moron thinks that Starksy and Hutch is better than the Shawshank Redemption!? And how the fuck does the shit that was Transformers deserve ten out of ten?

Personally, my favourite is Fight Club. Lots of shit that'll confuse you at times, some brutal action, sex, insanity and Edward Norton. Brad Pitt's underrated too. Great film.

Hot damn, I'm Mrs. Sam!!

As in the music, this is too difficult to answer, and everyday you discover movies that you never imagined before...
This changes always, im not "married" with just one movie, but with genres. I could watch a movie ALONE one day and say" Its the best ever" and watch it again, with friends or the wife, and the greatness is lost forever. Depends on how you watch movies, it's very complex.....

But I have to name one now....mmhhm.... I say: Natural Born Killers.
The Ultimate Serial Killer movie, an odd to Violence and madness, and some of the craziest and complex characters in a movie: Mickie and Malory. Gotta Love'em.

The Big Lebowski. I could watch this over and over again. Not only the best Coen movie, not only the best comedy but the best movie ever. Endlessly quotable. Brilliant characters. You know the characters are good when A) The supporting characters are the most memorable. and B) Jeff Bridges isn't the best thing in the movie. It's got mugs being chucked into peoples faces, peeing on rugs, nihilists, comedy peadophiles, ashes blowing into peoples faces and a guy called The Dude.

the lord of the ring - is my favorite trilogy all of them were good specialy the last one
the return of the king - it was the best film of the trilogy and all cast were terrific i love the final scene were aragorn proclaims himself king that was awesome

My all time favorite movie has to be the original batman with Michael Keaton as Batman and Jack Nicholson as the Joker. This movie is tremendous and an all time classic. the choice of the cast was great and its well produced. or another all time favorite is One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest. It was just a great movie from beginning to end, basically one of Jack Nicholson's best because he played that role of the character of McMurphy to perfection. It is simply a classic.

Easily my favorite film of all time is Transformers: The movie (1986).

I seen this in the movie theater in 1986 when I was about 3. My father took me, It was probrably the greatest childhood memory that I have.

Seeing Unicron destroy the planet in the begining was a HELL of a intro to the villian of the movie. Then when the movies theme kicks in I remember clapping like a school girl. (I'm a man by the way) When the autobots were killed so fast in the ship,I was in awe. Oddly enough I wasnt sad by this. It caught me off guard but I liked it.

Then the introduction of SO many new characters that werent in the 2 seasons before. Hot rod, Springer, Ultra magnus, and Kup (and others) They were so colorful and charismatic that I remembered why I liked transformers in the first place.

But about 20 mintues in, Optimus prime dies.....and....holy shit....Ive never cried so hard about a movie in my life (granted I was 3) Kids and parents walked out of the movie theater. But me and My dad stayed. I toughed it out.

As the action of the movie NEVER stopped I got more and more into the idea of a new leader, and new possibilities. By the end I had seen the greatest leader of ANY cartoon die, A new leader born, A HUGE transformer that could made fortress maximus and Omega supreme look like midgets. And at the end, I left the theater with the most important childhood memory, as well as life experience that has yet to be matched.

Blue Velvet.

Easily the greatest film, ever. David Lynch is the man, no one can fuck with your mind via film like him. I first watched Blue Velvet on quite a heavy dosage of hallucinogenic drugs (I won't specify which) and was pretty sure that I was in heaven. I watched it the next day sober, and it still made me feel this weird sensation. I don't know how to describe it. It's like a dream really, the film is. I knew it was the greatest film I had ever seen when I sat there listening to Roy Orbison for the next 6 monthes. Amazing.

Close second belongs to Donnie Darko. Another film with that dreamlike quality that really just makes you feel this sensation in your gut of happiness and despair at the same time, kind of tragic like.

Honorable mentions to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Garden State, and Brick.

Battle Royale

Even though the novel and manga are far superior to the movie adaptation, I was still blown away by this movie when I first saw it. It's "Lord of the Flies" with high schoolers. A bunch of kids are taken to an island where they are informed that they have three days to hunt each other down until one remains.

If you haven't read the novel or manga, I would strongly reccommend this movie. Fortunately, I had the benefit of watching the movie first and so my love for it is quite deep. If you have read the novel and/or manga... you may find yourself slightly disappointed but it's a still a very good watch, in my opinion.

great choice Xfear this defenitely has to be my choice for favorite movie. like you said the way it makes you think about everything thats going on. great film defenitely my sure favorite

this is true Donnie Darko makes you sit and think about shit and reveals the warped part of the mind. What really gets me about that movie is how donnie can see his families predestined future, and it just poses the question if it is real. If you ever feel like you need to see a movie that challenges your beliefs check it.

I choose Friday. It doesnt have special effects, special lighting, or even good acting. Its probably one of the funniest movies that I have ever saw. I definitely rank it my number 1. Chris Tucker is the man.

I dont know Fridays acting wasnt that bad, and besides like you said even if it did its still one of the funniest movies I've ever seen, like I reviewed it in the one sentence thread its one of the more original movies Ive seen and has a great plot, cant say the same for the sequels but Friday is still timeless

Jackie Chan's Police Story by far.

All stunts were real like in all Jackie Chan movies. In a stunt where Jackie drives his car through the town on the steep hill, I heard that numerous stuntmen nearly died in that part leaving them seriously injured. Jackie Chan also broke some bones and completely burned the skin on his hands in a stunt where he jumped off the top floor of the mall and slided down a pole to the first floor with lights rapped around the pole that burned him.

The action never stops and IMO is a very un-predictable movie if you're watching it for the first time.

The second best movie would be Jackie Chan's Who Am I for piratically the same reasons also the storyline is very interesting. It was cool when Jackie Chan jumped off the roof top of the building as well as fighting on the very edge of a high business building putting his life on the line just like every film

I strongly recommend watching this:
