Your Favorite Incarnation . . . of Kane!

Simple question, what was/is your favorite incarnation of Kane? Not Glenn Jacobs' entire career, I'm talking KANE! 1997-today. Though the concept of his character hasn't changed much over the years, he has.

You have:
Debut monster Kane, tag teaming/ feuding with X-pac Kane, 2001 B.O.D Kane, 2002 Kane, Unmasked (2003-2004) Kane, and post-2005 Kane.

My personal favorite is 2001 Kane. This had to be his most successful year with eliminating 11 wrestlers in the Rumble, winning WWF and WCW tag team championships, and the Hardcore championship.

So what's yours?

I know a lot of posters are gonna say the late 90s Kane and I definitely agree that he was great back then and he had a very good push but I'm gonna go with unmasked heel Kane circa 2003 - 2004.

Kane was absolutely dominant after he lost his mask. They were pushing him as this monster that even Evolution feared. He had some epic moments like Chokeslamming Eric Bischoff off the stage and putting JR on fire. I'm just pissed he never got a run with the world title during that time period. But this was definitely the Kane that I enjoyed the most. The evil, sick, ugly, twisted monster. I even enjoyed his Matt Hardy/Lita love triangle storyline. He was really playing his character well and he always has.

The first edition of Kane was and is the best! Since he's taken off the mask, he's just another big guy who loses all the time. When he first came out, no one could touch him and that was cool becuase he was the scariest bad guy the WWE had put out in a long, long time!

Isssac Yanken DDS was the best Kane.

Or not

Kane before X-pac turned him into comedy was the best, he lost a bit of the monster feel when he started talking like he'd had a laryngectomy, he was so much better before he had a voice.
His debut made him instantly a main eventer, and credible without even needing to wrestle. Starting his new character's career by standing toe to toe with Taker? yes please.

Debut Kane was my favourite incarnation. He really was a larger than life monster in the same ilk as Micheal Myers from Halloween. The storyline "Your brother is coming" involving the Undertaker was brilliant, the build up to his debut, the promos, the way he made his debut, the way he destroyed everything in his path, his sadistic non emotional approach to everything including taking a wrench to Vaders face, the music paired with the red lights. He was a fantastic character and like I said he was as close to a monster as you can get in pro wrestling. Paul Bearer really helped with the Kane character in the early days I feel...as he did with The Undertaker in his early days. He was awesome at being Kanes guardian and seeing as Kane could not speak at the time Paul was his mouthpiece and he did a brilliant job. The Undertaker and kane promos back then where as good and as creative as any horror movie.

I actually really liked all his work with X-Pac aswell..be it as a Tag Team or fighting against eachother. I liked the contrast of size and styles a lot more than Rey Mysterio and Kanes recent work together.

I disagree with anybody who says the mask added nothing to the character and was just piece of plastic. I think it added a lot to the character be you for it or against it (I am pro masked Kane). I really like the kane character but the incarnation I enjoyed most has not been around for a long time. I would not lose any sleep if the mask never made a comeback but I would not deny the fact I would like it if he did bring it back one more time. I have enjoyed his work without the mask at time but on a whole different level.

I don't understand why people say Kane loses alot because he actually doesn't he gets alot of no contests or DQ's in 2009 he never lost one match by pinfall or submission and Jim Ross gave that a mention on smkdwn when he and that little scrap with Ziggler for a few week. & in 2010 he was dominant as champion beating taker 3 times just because he makes guys look good against him and like to put young talent over he gets classed a jobber who loses alot.
But having said that nice post dude im a huge fan of Kane so i've enjoyed all his stuff but mostly 1999 to 2003 with the b.o.d and the kane and tori era hahaha funny stuff. But at aged of 44 Glen 'Kane' Jacobs is ready to retire when ever, Am just glad as Kane fan he's kept a passion all this long and wants to continue a while more.

My favorite incarnation is definitely his initial incarnation hands down. He drew a lot of heat incredibly quick since he was seen as this monster that can't be beat; even to the point that his own brother can't beat him. He was practically invincible in this incarnation, even after Taker beat him at WM XIV. However, when he became face for the first time I believe it went downhill for me right there.

I've always loved Kane and seeing his character evolve over the years has really been a treat. I've enjoyed every side of Kane(maybe not Yankems unless I needed a laugh) but number one definitely has to go to with Debut Monster Kane. Kane always had an amazing presence but seeing that big monterous man with the mystery of the mask just made him a guy that you started at in amazement. He was such a force that was only rivaled by his brother, it was inpossible not to be impressed and captivated when he was in the ring.

I LOVED the 02 - 03 (Before Unmasking) I Just thought that he had what it takes to be a World Champ, Just loved his attire too, And the crowd was behind him when he was a face! A Big Disappointment that he didnt win the World Title in 02-03 :/

I didn't receive cable or satellite until May 1998, so I, unfortunately missed out on the first several months of bad ass, Monster Kane. I liked how they made such a big deal out of Kane speaking for the first time with a voice box: "If I do not win the title, I will.....SET MYSELF ON FIRE!" and then "Austin, this Sunday...the blood on you...will be REAL!" I also liked the way Kane would cover his opponents and the way he could say something by just tilting his head.

Kane in late 2000 and early 2001 was also pretty bad ass. Like when he chokeslammed Undertaker through the ring and looked like a viable contender to the Rock's WWF championship.

Then, of course, was his run in 2003 after he first unmasked. As goofy as it may sound, he looked kind of scary when he first unmasked...to me at least. I loved how he walked to the ring with a black towel over his head and did that awesome Kane laugh we've all come to know and love. He started off looking like a real monster again here....until he started jobbing to Shane McMahon at live events.

So yeah, I'm an admitted Kane mark. I pretty much like any incarnation as long as he's pushed as a credible monster. I was elated to see him win the WHC last year. A couple months before he won the title, he was booked pretty well and delivered a couple of the best promos I've heard in a long time. Of course, we all know how that reign ended. In closing, I guess if I have to pick just one, it would be 1997-1998 Kane. He was the ultimate scary monster back then.

Its a toss up for me between the initial incarnation, what I like to call his Michael Meyers period, roughly '97-'98. and late '00-'01 when he was arguably at his most dominate, winning the WWE AND WCW Tag Team Championships, the Intercontinental Championship and the Hardcore Championship, plus dominating the Royal Rumble.

the Michael Meyers Kane wins though because it was of his peer brutality. think about this, he "caved in" Vader's face with a giant wrench just because he looked down and saw a wrench laying there, he "crushed" Mankind's head with a sledgehammer just to say that he didn't feel like teaming with him anymore, he caught a stage hand on fire just to prove he could, he locked the Undertaker in a coffin and caught it on fire thus "burning the Undertaker alive" and no matter what was done to him he would just sit up and do the head tilt... I still don't understand why they didn't keep the title on him longer during the summer of '98.

I like the unmasked one during the whole Lita/Snitsky angle. He still retained his monster qualities and after they screwed around with him after 2005 hes never been as intimidating. Sure, he had a great WHC title reign but he just basically ripped off Undertaker with all the creepy stuff. I miss the Kane that would attack jumper cables to Shane O Mac. That brute force sadistic style Kane is what we need right now to turn a face that really isnt catching on right now into a hero by defeating him.

I'll admit it...The internet is right on this one, the Original Kane w/mask and Paul Bearer is the best. Basically he was Michael Myers in red. A menacing, plodding monster whose single-minded nature made it so that his reluctant brother had to fight him. Personally I think that Jamie Lee Curtis was much hotter than the Undertaker, but she just doens't have it in the ring anymore. Anyway, the Original, untoppable Kane was the Best.

Son of a Bitch... I just looked on the page above my post and saw that someone else made the Myers comparison...Oh well...
