Your Favorite Incarnation. . . of Eddie Guerrero

Rockyfolifebo!!!

Pre-Show Stalwart
Yes, I know his birthday was this month. So I was thinking, what is his best incarnation throughout his career?

WCW Eddie- he and all of the other cruiserweights were held back, but he put on some of the most classic matches of WCW history. (vs Syxx ladder match, vs Mysterio at H. Havoc)

LWO Eddie- this is when he formed the infamous faction, LWO, with most all of the Latino WCW wrestlers

Latino Heat- WWF debut, IC and Euro champ, chasing Chyna

Los Guerreros/Lie Cheat Steal- around 2002-2004 when he won Tag team and WWE gold.

Heel (last run)- his epic feud with Mysterio over the custody of Dominik over the 2005 summer.

For me, I liked the lie, cheat, steal gimmick. He was just so happy!!! He was clean from drugs, he won the WWE championship, he was a face, everything just seemed to be going right for him! Plus, he was a hell of an entertainer when he magically got "hit by a chair" behind the refs back! Vintage Eddie! R.I.P.

I liked him at the Mysterio feud. That was my favorite feud of all time. It was really personal, from being the tag champs, to the frustration of not beating Rey, to their 'little secret', and to the custody of his son. He looked psycopath at that time and it was really good.

I liked the 2004-2005 eddie he was really getting to a place where he was amazing... his run at the wwe championship his tag with rey and his heel turn and then against batista he turn into this tweener type char that was extremely funny!! he was always great!

I really starting to like him when he was trying to bang china cause after that he easily became one of my number 1 guys before that he was just the mexican wrestler from wcw that got injured the first few days he debuted as a big deal from WCW with benoit, perry saturn and dean milenko.

I'm going to remember Eddie most fondly from the lie, cheat, steal era. The LWO was a good way to get attention, and his work with Chyna was pretty entertaining, but he was pulling some real heel-ish behavior with Chavo and getting cheered for it. It was the closest thing to a Stone Cold type of situation the WWE has had (the bad guy is a fan favorite).

Now Ill admit he wasn't a true bad guy, he was always smiling, always having fun, always in it for the fans; but his actions were classic heel moves. They had to do something dark with Rey to make him a heel, because any other attempt at a heel turn would have gotten that character cheered even more.

Terrible final comment, but if Eddie was still with us he would be the face of the WWE...

....and we would have never had to sit through years of "excuse me!"

Latino Heat - Los Guerreros

i know thats a few different incarnations but all were really entertaining
If i had to narrow it down to , i'd say Los Guerrero's and eventual World Champ
He was on the top of his game during that last face run.

Obviously the Los Guerreros time stands out when he reached the pinnacle of his career.

During his last run I hated the feud with Rey (the whole thing about Rey's son was just awful), however they had a ladder match at Summerslam that was just beyond incredible and made up for whatever f-d up storyline led into it.

My favorite, but far too fleeting, time in eddie's career was his tag team with Chris Jericho. I think they were called "the crybabies."
It was funny. It was fun. It was two of the best wrestlers of the modern era of pro wrestling (back when they "had the eye of the tiger") showing us what they could do and what could be done in tag team wrestling.

I do not think there was more than about three televised matches, but they were like little tag team clinics.

Oops...for those of you who blinked and missed them....the team of which I spoke was at WCW around 1998, I think. I sorta wished they had revisited the team at the wwe.

Now that I think of it, every era in eddie's career since he slimmed down from his initial ecw run was awfully good. The man is a legend for a reason, and not just because he died.

I love WCW Guerrero because of the mullet and his relationship with Chavo was hillarious. but Heel, 2005 Eddie was great with the apex of that being the "I'm your Papi" T-shirt. I felt bad when watching the memorial show and seeing guys wear it and I giggled. I'm sorry but that T-shirt is fucking hilarious. I just think of Eddie saying it and it's so damn funny to me. idk why

I'd say the "Lie, cheat, and steal" persona was my favorite.

I've always been an Eddie fan and seeing him win the WWE title was truly a mark out moment. I go back to watching that match every once in a while because it was full of great back and forth action with tremendous storytelling. I can't help but mark out every time I watch it.

His face champion run was great. His match against Kurt Angle at Wrestlemania 20 was really good and I liked the way he put over JBL eventually I wasn't complaining of course because believe it or not I was honestly a big JBL fan.

Eddie Guerrero was always a great entertainer and something really special in the ring. But his "Lie, cheat, and steal" persona was what really got me over.

How about his run ECW?

I still got tapes of them or at least had them.

EVERY match he had with Dean Malenko was "match of the year" quality.

two guys going at it,back and forth, matches that could still hold up today as classics!

That was awesome the night he started recruiting LWO members butWCW alowed the NWO to dominate that stable and thats when it became obvious WCW wasn't going to let him advance, probably didn't even want him as U.S. champ, and had no respect for any luchador past or present.

I would say the Eddie circa 1996. In his prime, more intense, arrogant, more heelish, more lucha orthodox, and of course i miss his mullet. Latino heat cheated too much and was too stereotypical.

P.S. What of his time in ECW or even AAA?
