Your favorite Chairshots????

The Whole F'N Moe

Dark Match Jobber
Are there any steel chair shots that are cemented in your mind of the old days when you were actually allowed to do them in WWE...

name some of your favorite steel chair moments...

A few of mine:

-Rock hitting Shamrock in the face while Shamrock was on his knee's offering a free shot.

-Stone Cold running down the ramp to save Stephanie McMahon from being sacrificed by The Ministry and grabs a chair off the ramp while running and wacks Mideon over the head hard as possible.

-The Rock Vs Mankind I quit Match - there's a segment where rock hits him like 20 something times lol

-Brock Lesnar murdering Big Show with a chair

Your turn :) thanks

Rock on Shamrock takes the cake for sure. Shamrock yells and Rock blasts him right on his face with no blocking whatsoever. I also enjoyed all the 97 chair shots to the leg when the wrestler (usually Bret Hart) had the opponent against the ring post which set up his figure four on the posts. And while I don't remember them to vividly, I remember hearing a story about how the mean street posse wouldn't block chair shots as they wanted to seem tough.

Yeah, Rock absolutely nailing Shamrock with the chair is brutal. Definitely a famous moment of the Attitude Era, you wouldn't get unprotected shots like that nowadays, that's for sure!

In Mick Foley's book, he mentions that the Posse came to him and asked him to hit them hard with the chairshots, as they hadn't taken any before and didn't want to look soft. Foley agreed, as he was planning on blasting them anyway.

Now for my picks...

The Hardy Boyz on Brock Lesnar

Lesnar was still a rookie monster at this point, and I don't think he'd ever been taken off his feet. Even with this absolutely brutal chairshot, he simply rolled out of the ring but remained on his feet. The chair is caved in over Brock's skull.

And my favourite non-WWE chairshot has to be Tommy Dreamer on Raven from back in the original ECW.

Raven is handcuffed to a steel cage, totally unable to protect himself and takes the full force of the shot right in the face. It's absolutely insane, Raven's whole body goes limp afterwards, he clearly doesn't know where he is. You can understand why unprotected chairshots have been banned these days, as fuck me that must have caused some permanent damage.

lol I dunno, have you seen Big Show Vs Brock at RR2014??

I remember watching that and just being so angry... I mean not at Brock because that's what he does and I know Big Show's crying was just acting (probably anyway lol) It was pretty brutal looking but I remember literally being so angry thinking who ever booked that crap should get the same treatment. I remember cursing HHH and Vince like yeah I know you wanted a shock for the show but why poor, old, giant, broken down Big Show?

He beat him pretty bad with that chair. I mean you have to take into account the Big Shows shape and also who's swinging the chair as well.

I forgot one!

I THINK it was SummerSlam 1998 Austin Vs Taker

I remember being very into this match as a young boy while watching thinking Austin was going to lose with interference after interference... was going on quite awhile, Austin was down and Taker was standing ready to finish him off when all of the sudden from right out of the blue X-Pac slides in the ring behind Taker jumping up and down with his tongue all hanging out of his head, doing the crotch chop and motioning for Taker to turn around and when he did he threw a chair up in the air and did the best roundhouse kick ever launching the chair into his face allowing Austin to pick up the win. Then X-Pac gets back up and starts doing the crotch chop over and over again lol

I remember being so excited as a young guy, doing the crotch chop with X-Pac lol

That's a great PPV all together!!
Def one of my favorites...

Can't look up specific examples at the moment, but I always liked Edge & Christian's con-chair-to, either in singles or in tag matches. They looked and sounded fierce, which always seem to induce a huge pop from the crowd.

How can anyone forget SCSA vs the Rock at WM17. SCSA absolutely just killed the rock with multiple chair shots. Hitting him over and over again. He just murdered the rock with so many shots.. Those were brutal shots.

For my life I cannot scrounge up the video, but any Shane McMahon chair shot easily takes a top spot. The combination of his running start, sailing wildly through the air and connecting at just the right moment with a heinous CRACK.

To change the tune a lil bit. A very recent one that isn't to the head is the one where Cody Rhodes murders the leg of one of the UCE-OS. I dunno it just felt freaking brutal watching it. I dont remember much now so that's the one im going with I guess.

Good thread and some great mentions so far.

You can't have this thread and not mention Chris Benoit though. Benoit took brutal shots to his head all the time, which caused him to do you know what, and two that come to mind are Hardcore Holly on Chris Benoit on an episode of Raw. It's at 8.25 in the video I'll post below. This clip used to play on the Raw intro video. And the second is Chris Jericho to Chris Benoit at Royal Rumble 2001, where Benoit went for a Suicide Dive through the second ropes and Jericho countered with a Steel Chair to the head.

JBL to Eddie Guerrero at Judgment Day 2004 was sick for the nasty bladejob Eddie did.

Shane McMahon's Coast-To-Coast has been mentioned but nobody did The Van Terminator better and more dangerously than Rob Van Dam.

I don't know if this one counts, but RVD's Van Daminator to Jeff Hardy at Invasion was a freaking epic moment. RVD begging Jeff not to hit him with the Chair, only to leap up to his feet, quick like a cat, and hit Jeff with the move causing him to fly off the entrance, was an amazing counter.

Mike Awesome's chairshots to Masato Tanaka were always a great feature in their matches. Tanaka would take repeated chairshots to his head, but he'd still stand on his feet or get knocked down but always get back up quickly as Awesome looked on in shock and the crowd popped everytime. It's like the chairshots would re-energize Tanaka.

And my final picks involve both Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker. The Brain put it best when he said Wrestlemania 14 was the event that turned things around for the WWF, but Summerslam 1997 was the event that laid the groundwork. Shawn Michaels' chairshot to The Undertaker at Summerslam 1997 was what set things in motions as it set up his great heel turn, great blood feud with Taker, the first ever Hell in a Cell, and eventually the Montreal Screwjob. And the second chair shot by The Undertaker to HBK at Badd Blood 1997 was just as great as Taker had Shawn dead to rights in the Cell before Kane made his scary, awesome debut and cost Taker the match.

Three more favourites that I just remembered...

The one Stone Cold Steve Austin gave to The Rock that gave Mankind his memorable and historic WWF Title win on the January 4 1999 episode of Raw. The whole thing was just crazy.

The chairshot Dude Love accidentally gave Mr. McMahon at Over The Edge 1998. Even though the chairshot was a little weak, it was part of a genius finish where Austin ducked the shot from Dude then Stunned him and Austin grabbed McMahon’s hand and counted the three as Vince was out cold.

And the one Stone Cold gave Mr. McMahon at Unforgiven 1998. McMahon sold it great and acted like he was dead.

I can't find the video of it, but there's one where Shane McMahon (I think it's him) is running down the rampway to the ring to try to interfere in a match and someone flies out of the corner and whacks him in the face with a chair.

Just the combination of the stiff shot and the context made it an awesome visual. I hope someone can pull that up.

Best: as Macho Machismo said earlier, my favourite is the end of Summerslam 1997 where Shawn Michaels, as referee, swings at Bret Hart, who just spat in Michaels face. Bret ducks, and Michaels accidentally nails the Undertaker, then is forced to count the pub for Bret to win the WWE title.

I've also got a worst: the awful, weak, pathetic shot from Lance Storm to RVD at ECW's first ppv, Barely Legal. So pathetic it drew boos from the crowd. Watch it! In hindsight it's hilarious!

I did love Stone Cold's chairshot on the Rock during that Title Match against Mankind. Just the monumental pop that austin received, the way rock sold it and of course Foley's great victory all have that moment cemented in my head.

The chairshot itself is very iconic to me. Might not be the most "Extreme" chairshot or anything, but it means the most to me.

Not really favorites but memorable ones.

Ken Kennedy on Eddie shortly before Eddie died. I think it was on an episode of Smackdown and I remember it being brutal. It was probably one of the loudest chair shots I had ever heard.

Rock and Mankind. Was it Royal Rumble? It was when Rock put Mankind in handcuffs and hit him over and over with the chair. It was pretty crazy to watch. I remember Mankind's family had to leave the seating area because they were being emotional about it. Which I can't blame them for. Mankind's kids were pretty young if I remember right.

And thats whats so sad about chair shots. I honestly believe that contributed to eddies death

When I think of chairshot...the first one that comes to mind was the brilliant sell Shawn Michaels did when Undertaker cracked him over the head with a steal chair in the very first Hell in a Cell match. Michaels, with a crimson mask...sold that like he had just been shot. He looked like a dead carcass in the ring.

Best chairshot ever.

Royal Rumble 1999, I Quit Match.

Rocky had agreed to give Mick a set number of chairshots but went well over that, cracking him again and again while Mick was handcuffed and couldn't protect himself at all. It was painful to watch.

Foley's family were at ringside and all of them ended up in tears- you can see it all on the Barry Blaustein documentary "Beyond The Mat", and even see the massive cut in Foley's head getting sown up after the match. To this day Mick is angry that The Rock never checked on him to see how he was after the match.
