The Rock: Favorite WM Match

Just like the other threads like it, pick your favorite WM match of the Rock

WM13- vs. The Sultan
-Maivia pinned The Sultan with a Roll-up.

WM14- vs. Ken Shamrock (IC title)
-Shamrock originally won the match by making Rock submit to an ankle lock. However, Shamrock "snapped" and refused to release the hold. After being forced to let go, Shamrock attacked the referee and a number of officials, leading to the match decision being reversed by disqualification.

WM15- vs. Stone Cold (WWF title)
-Austin pinned The Rock after a Stone Cold Stunner. Afterwards, Austin had a beer bash with Earl Hebner and delivered a final Stunner to Vince.

WM16- vs. Big Show vs. Mick Foley vs. Triple H (WWF Title)
-Rock pinned Big Show after a Rock Bottom. (4:41)
Triple H pinned Foley after a Pedigree on a steel chair. (19:41)
Triple H pinned Rock after a chair shot from Vince McMahon. (36:28)
After the match, the Rock gave Vince, Shane and Stephanie Rock Bottom's and a People's Elbow to Stephanie.


WM17- vs. Stone Cold (WWF Title)
- Austin pinned Rock after hitting him repeatedly with a steel chair.
During the match, Vince McMahon came to ringside to Austin's aid.

WM18- vs. Hulk Hogan
- Rock pinned Hogan after two Rock Bottoms and a People's Elbow.
After the match, The Rock and Hogan fought off an attack by Scott
Hall and Kevin Nash

WM19- vs. Stone Cold
-Rock pinned Austin after a Rock Bottom

WM20- Rock N' Sock Connection vs. Evolution
-Orton pinned Foley after an RKO.

IMO I think the Rock has had many great WM matches, all his matches from WM15- 19 were all great matches, but the one that stands out the most to me would have to be WM18 vs. Hogan, I can't think of one other match off the top of my head that had more electricity around it, these two guys put on one of the best matches in the history of the business, from beginning to end the match had people on the edge of their seats, it had everything that is required to be a great match, and is all around the best match the Rock has ever had at WM

WM17, against Austin. It might be because I'm biased towards WM17 as the best of all time but I really did love this match. It was also the climax of the Attitude Era, featuring two of the best of all time.

Although im pretty well known as a huge mark for crowd heat and atmosphere, I have to say the match I picked barely edged the Hogan match for me personally, as it is one of my favorite matches period. It involved my favorite incarnation of the rock, against SCSA giving a preformance that was 100% heart. Great mix of brawling and showmanship, and a heartwarming (to me at least) moment right after the fall was scored. Probably the hottest that the huge WM 19 crowd was all night. Love this match.

I would have to say WM X8 vs. Hogan, personally. The crowd was freakin' electric for that match, and two of the best in the business delivered for them.

What was astounding to me was that Hogan was booked as the heel, yet he was cheered tremendously while the Rock was booed. Hardly ever in a match have I seen a performer (in this case the Rock) go from being the face, to the heel, and back to a face after the match.

Of course, Rock carried that match, but it was a damn good match. He made Hogan look like a million bucks. Just watch the beginning of the match where he gets thrown down on his ass twice by Hulk. Hulk starts doing his Real American-era poses, and the crowd goes nuts. What compounded on that moment was the face of the Rock, showing a little bit of concern, and the Hulkster looked like a friggin' god right there.

Of course, it was a class-act after the bout to do the pose-down with Hulk. Scripted or not, it was memorable.
