y2j vs cena

Occasional Pre-Show
was it just me or was this match fucking fantastic tonight?.i was honestly falling asleep until jerichos entrance, then decided to give the match a chance, glad i did now as i really think it was a great match up until edges interference.

anyone else think this was the best match these 2 have had together? and also..thats 2 great matches from cena in 2 raws now..im finding it hard to give him credit though as id say he probably hit about 10 moves in both the matches combined...props for him putting over swagger last week though.

I couldnt agree more. Im in no way a cena fan, but the last two weeks has changed my view of him. Jericho and cena put on a classic and this is what raw has been needing. More PPV worthy matches, more great crowds, and more santino!!!

Cena and Jericho gave us a finale in their rivalry that matches the series of matches they've had in the past few months. Cena's a good worker and working with guys like Jericho, Edge and HBK make Cena a better wrestler as time goes by.

Having the Edge run-in is the only way to end it, though. Have to build up to the PPV and give Edge some sort of momentum going into the match.

Great match by the two. And I bet they tear the house down on live events, also.

yeah not complaining with the edge run in..i was expecting it to come more when cena had jericho in the f-u though. i was suprised to see jericho go toe to toe with cena and pretty much had the better of him..was just a nice suprise and a great match.

I am new to the forums, and usually just reading the news articcals and some of the forum topics and I can not stand back and let cena get praise for the wrong reason.

If you watch the Jericho match from tonight and the swagger match last week you'll notice they did all the work. Yes Jericho/cena matches are entertaining, buts that because Chris Jericho is doing all the work, he is flying around the ring, countering a standing/punching cena. Jericho also sells everything perfectly. He is pretty much having a wrestling match by himself, and that takes skill.

I'll admit im a cena hater, but I always disliked him even before he went to raw and it became cool to boo him, but more importantly i'm a wrestling fan, I want to cheer the good guy and boo the bad guy, I try to look for reasons to cheer the kiss arse cena but cant. I dont mind giving wrestlers credit for their hard work, but make sure its their hard work and not the other guy making them look great. Jericho, HBK, The Rock they could make a punching bag look good in the ring they are gifted. But if you guys wanna give cena some credit there is one match where he did actually carry his own weight and that was against Bobby Lashly, they both carried their own weight and made eachother look good just not one guy doing all the work.

Jack Swagger i've only seen like 3 of his matches and he impressed me every time, he really has potential, and hope to see him in a legit main event spot some day. Sorry for the long post, but it was my first post "heck of a first post huh hehe" but in the future ill try to keep certain subjects on certain forums.

The match tonight was very good, but it was all Y2J the Iotola of Rock and Rolla.

Did anybody notice that Edge attacking cena during the match with jericho and cena was extremly similar to the Randy orton attack after Cena vs Kennedy in 2007, the raw before no mercy where there was going to be a last man standing match. But cena got hurt during his match againts kennedy and couldn't compete, But orton was supposed to win the title in the last man standing match anyways, but I noticed it was like almost the same thing, except orton and cena were outside the ring, and edge and cena inside. and some diffrent attacks, but they still both did the count thing, and said they would walk out champion, so i have a feeling edge is going to win and backlash to kinda do what they wanted to do with Cena and orton at no mercy. Triple H was just a backup plan and thats why he didn't hold the title to long.

I thought the match was terrific, both men put one hell of a show on. Granite cena only hit a few moves, however, his BRUTE strength is fantastic. Cena just man handling y2j, Standing on the ropes with all Jericho's body weight on him, while maintaining his balance, can only be done by the CHAMP.

Cena is improving and his passion for the business is only matched by the HHH.

yeah im not giving cena credit as such..what i gave cena credit for was the way he put swagger over last week. i did say cena only made like 10 moves out of both matches..i think though the reason it was such a good match is because of who cena is and what he's become..to see a heel holding his own..especialy jericho whos not always booked as a strong heel, always wins by cheating or fluke against the big guys..but yeah to see jericho actualy get the better of him, was a nice suprise and it made the match what it was. awesome

the match was great, the run-in was needed, and people need 2 realise they have to cut cena more slack.
you cant say cena did nothing, swagger and jericho did all the work.
thats how it goes with (almost) all matches! the face gets beat up on and makes a comeback, the heel is the better wrestler who works the majority of the match!

i reallly liked this match between Cena and Jericho
raw needed a main a couple main event matches in one night

John Cena vs Chris Jericho
Triple H vs Randy Orton

those two matches were good, but cena jericho stole it for me. they put on one hell of a match!
the edge run-in was good too but i would've hoped for that to happen right after the match ended. i wanted to see an end to that kind of match and nice way for Jericho to leave raw! nice match!

I had gotten home from work around 10 and I decided "What the hell? Lets see what Raws up to tonight." I turn it on about halfway through the Cena/Jericho match and I was stuck! This match was insane. Back and forth and so on. Each finish you really thought is was over and then...bam!!!

I kinda hated the Edge run in but it was necessary I suppose for Edge's feud with Cena. For the love of God Vince please give us some more of that on a regular basis. Some back and forth action and false finishes are a lot better than a quick 5 min match!!! Kudos all around to Cena and Jericho.

The Cena Jericho match was a beaut for a RAW match but the Edge run in also presents another question. Jericho just let Edge knock him off the top there... he took a tough fall and you know what if I was a bad ass heel like Jericho I'd be pissed and go after Edge!!!
That would be a great Heel versus Heel fued and also could give the WWE a chance to turn one of them Face preferably Edge.

Two weeks in a row i've been thoroughly impressed w/ the matches that cena has put on. I'm in no way a john cena mark, but I do think his work in the ring is starting to noticeably improve. He's on the level where he can put together good matches and can still make someone else look good. granted he was in the ring w/ a true veteran this week, i still think he deserves a little credit. I really think the kids starting to get it.

Starting? Really? Early 2007 and onward, Cena has been one of the best workers in the world.

Another good match between Cena and Jericho. The two make eachother look great constantly, and they are so much better together than Cena and the ultra-overrated Edge. I really with Cena and Jericho wrestled that often.

That was easily a PPV quality match (minus the ending of course). Both men went out there, and gave it their A game, and it really showed.

The IWC likes to rag on Cena a lot, but I have to say that when the booking is not borderline ******ed, Cena can put on one heck of an entertaining match. He may not go down in history as a great technical wrestler, but the entertainment value is definitely there.

This is pro-wrestling. I've never understood why people go crazy over technical wrestling considering the medium itself. Even the "technical wrestlers" aren't THAT technical.

Cena will go down as a great. He's already the best WWE Champion ever in my book. Last night just adds a footnote to a long list of great matches he's had.

It was a great match like everyone said. I think it was better than their 2 PPV matches, and I thought could've been a MOTY candidate if Edge hadn't run in. That match posed a bigger question though.....when is the WWE going to pull the trigger and turn Cena heel?

I'm surprised no one is mentioning the enourmous chorus of booes Cena got yesterday. Yeah it was in London, but this is almost every night and every city now. Whether it was Y2J beating him down, or Edge with the con-chair-to. When does the crowd count the face out and cheer??? Did anyone here the Y2J chants? Did anyone notice how loud Cena was booed as he was helped back by the refs?

He gets booed more and more each week. Just play to the crowd and turn him heel officially. Then he will really elevate himself to the next level when he finally turns face again.

It was love/hate for me, I really enjoyed the story of it, I was constantly saying "That's it" or "Surely over now" and that's the part of wrresling I strive for....

.... But the whole thing felt so fucking contrived, Cena told a great story, but the actually bits and pieces broken down were very sloppy, it all feels very slow when he's doing these feats of strength things, and while they would be impressive in a body building contest, just haering Michael Cole being right at the climax and having to wait 10-11 seconds before he goes "OH MAH GAWD DID YOU SEE THAT" kind of spoils it for me. Cena is not a bastion of wrestling ability, he knows that, you've heard backstage when he says (of Edge) "You may be a better wrestler than me", so it's part of his gimmick to not be a great wrestler but have lots of strength and heart. However, if this is the case I don't need anyone saying "WHAT A FUCKING COUNTER" when he's ballsed up a drop toehold into an STF and has to roll around their body and jump on the other leg.

I don't know about Match of the Year, How about the "Could have been" Match of the Year award, the 2 superstars left everything out in the ring and there were those great tense moments throughout the course, but the trick of a great match is to not feel like they're trying to create something great, it just happens, and I felt that the whole production of the match was "trying" to be something - Where the blame lies I don't know, but my less critical eye says it was a cracking bout.

I just watched it again. It's nowhere near MOTY. It was Cena and Jericho's worst one-on-one match ever. They had a better one in early February before No Way Out this year, and even that wasn't MOTYC. It was MOTN and that's all. Not up to their usual standards, IMO. Jericho dominated Cena more than most people and it just fell flat trying to be epic at the end when I knew a lot of those false finishes were crap.

I don't know if it was just me, but Cena looked out of it last night. Either that or he's good at selling a Jericho beatdown... which is saying something if it surprises me as I'm already a Cena fan.

Should have been more even.

When i was ready for this match i was thinking, AWESOME i get to see my favorite wrestler Chris Jericho in action! But i also had a thought that the same thing would happen as in all their matches. like.....o my god , jerichos got in the walls, and cena of cource doent tap after 5 min of applying the most painfull sub in the WWE , then he rolls around and gets Y2J in the STFU for 4 sec, and thats it... but this math completley proved me wrong and im happy it did, it was sceriously a classic, and WWE should do that way more than they do now, especially off PPVs.

i agree the match was perfect except for the ending, they could have just had edge attach cena after the match would he would have probrably won
all of us probly had feeling that it was a good chance that edge would come in especially it being the last raw before backlash

Again. The spoilers make me watch. I really just didn't feel like watching it last night so I read the spoilers to see if there was anything I SHOULD see. Whoever said the Cena/Jericho match was good in their report, I thank you. I tuned in just for that match. I wasn't going to watch because the only match at Backlash I have any real interest in is Cena/Edge. Everything else just seems like a typical Backlash match; a recycled and watered-down (maybe something added so its not exactly the same) WrestleMania match. Thankfully, I did.

I was actually looking to start a thread on this, lol missed out,

anyway, this match was great. I am not a Cena mark, I do however get a little, tired of the Cena haters. He works his ass off, and can put on good matches quite often. Glad to see him get his props when the guy deserves it, and Cena and Jericho both deserve them this week.

This is my first time on here so bear with me..... First of all yes it was the best match I have seen on RAW for a while. Although you could put jericho in the ring with anyone and he would make it look good. I was actually impressed with cena too, even though he only used 3 or 4 moves in the entire match....I mean, really, how many times did he go for the FU? Has anyone else noticed that every time cena lifts someone in the air for any move how much michael cole stresses how much of a "power house" cena is? Really annoying. I was saddened that Jericho got drafted to smackdown although I do think it was a good move for the show. It'll be cool to see Jericho and edge working together. I think we will be seeing a lot of those two teaming together. Anyway, that is my opinion and i'm stickin to it! Does anyone remember back in the day when jericho was with wcw his whole "conspiracy victem" shtick? Hilarious!
