WZCW Discussion Thread

I have another idea, although with it being mid november, I'm assuming creative have already had suck an idea... Once we get this show out, we should have a christmas special. Not just a show full of wrestling, but a clip show of sorts, some of the better RPs of the year, interesting charecters in the year, just a huge christmas show. With som matchs, of course. And what could be done is this show could be worked on for a while, by not only staff but the fed itself. Once it's done, have it saved in the staffroom or somthing, and if any one of the staff hs compuer access on Christmas day, they could post it as a gift for us all. It'd be alot of work for a really great show, but I think we could all chip in and make it an awsome christmas themed show.

Which reminds me of another idea. It was though of a while ago, and shot down. But I honestly think it should be though about a little more. We have our discussion thread, but what about an "In Charecter Discussion thread"? We had a "Dynasty Locker Room" and "Chuck Myles Office" a while ago, and those looked to get popular. I think if we had something like that, but backstage, it could help create conversation with everyone in charecter, and it might even start a few rivalrys with all the trash talking going on. Just a though.

Dude, I love the idea. Stable locker rooms, Myles's office, maybe personal dressing rooms for the bigger stars and champs, among other things. That could be great, in-character. Maybe get some more event in WZCW.

These are all great ideas, and continue to discuss them...by all means. However, keep in mind a sense of reality. My number one concern for this place is to get so shows are coming out on a regular basis again. Once that is achieved, if the desire for such things remains, it can be revisited.

Ricky, I have an idea, but it's almost to "harsh" to work. Do what you'd do with assigning the card. Wait the week for the RPs to come in. Once thats done, pick out your match writers. Make sure first that hey will have the time withen the next week (or two, whatever time frame works) and have them do it. Treat it like an RP. if they offer to write a match, and either don't, or have it late, treat it like a late or missing RP, and punish the person. If this rule was accepted, I'm sure no one would volunteer in fear of unishment, but I know som would volunteer knowing they'd meet the deadline.

This idea is probably not the best, but if done right, it could work...

Another, simple idea is alternate match endings. Once the card is out, even while the RPs are being written, assign Matchs to thoe that already RPed, and make em write two endings, then just use the one you'd want. Thats what I did in another fed.

Also, a simple note. The biggest problem with this fed is that peoples live are interfearing with the work they could be doing. Please note people, Derf has no life. Thank you.

Solution:

Go do something. Volunteer at a shelter, carry old ladies' groceries, perform random acts of kindness, take some classes, get another job, workout, etc etc etc.

lol I wasn't complaining. I do stuff, on weekends, after midnight, that kinda thing. I mean, when I worked all day, I just come home and sit at ym computer. I made that post as a "hint hint, I can help" kinda thing. If you need a match wrtten or something, I can do it. Thats what I was saying.

This is a good idea, I know we did a bit of an end-of-the-year awards show last year, maybe we can combine these too? Have award categories IC (like "Best Performer" or "Best Promo") and highlights of the year (like the Lethal Lottery, KFAD, and The Uprising ;)). We could pull this off, but EVERYBODY would have to pitch in.

Nice to see some solid discussion in here. Some of the ideas are good, so not so much. But I have to agree getting a show up is top prioriety (besides having a life of course :p).

Because I couldn't be bothered reading back through all the ideas that have been thrown up, I'll just start with the last idea ^. I mainly disagree, it woud be different if we have shows we can watch (i.e. Actual wrestling, or Svr Sims.), but just quoting old shows pretty much isn't that interesting. If you want to have a look back, go through the shows, but otherwise it's not entirely worth it. Although just adding some small clips of really important moments onto a regular show is ok I guess.

Otherwise, most of the ideas thrown around have good and bad points, as most things do. Also, I'm interested in the shaking things up, whatever is up with that.

I PM'd someone - Iscy I think , about doing another awards ceremony. He said he was going to propose it to creative. Never heard back.(I may still be able to find the PM if someone else wants it?)

It was a good ending, and an awesomely written match. I didn't expect this ending to happen, but congrats to Stokes for a 2nd shot, AND congrats to Carmen on one hell of a debut. And I really want to know why the lights keep going out.

Also, I'm looking forward to the next card. Obviously :P

Awesome show. I've started writing an RP which i should have finished early next week :-)

Dude, if your facing Manzo, your gonna wanna make sure your RP is f-ing amazing. He's not an easy guy to beat. And Stokes is getting really good really fast. So you'd better make sure you bring it.

Wait... that means I'm facing Everest. Well, that should be interesting. The good thing about this tournament is that it's forcing people to raise their game. Because some of the LOSING RPs were very very good.

I got a bit bored and put up a little RP. Have fun reading it

I saw that just as I went to do up my own mini RP for the hell of it. I'm not even sure what I want to RP about, but I just feel bored and wanna do something creative lol.

And the people losing have written good RPs. Kinda. Actually, I'm the only person still in the fed that lost a match in this tourny without getting back in.

I'm also currently trying to find someone to feud with. I don't want to just keep fighting random people every show, so if anyone else wants to feud with me, lemme know. We can think of somthing.

Guys,

Glad to see that you all seem to be having a good time right now. You all have permission to keep doing your mini RPs for the time being, and note that while they aren't match specific...pushes and tiebreakers generally go to the strongest characters. So, any character development you want to partake in will just better what you've got happening.

In terms of the next card...hopefully sometime this weekend? It all depends on the shake-up...of which you will be informed in due time.

The RP i'm working on is a charicter development RP and will go in my RP thread. I'll sort out a match RP once the card is up - its all good fella there is a lot of Carmen to go around weather it be about his growth from fighter in to wrestler or RP's about up coming matches. - To add depth to the Carmen Charicter I'm thinking of also doing some RP's that are completely non related to WZCW. I don't want my matches judged on them or anything like that but I want people to know Carmen more then they know any other wrestler in this fed, I want him to have a history and a depth - sort of like a chronicles of Carmen before he went to prison - if its not ok then please say and i'll scrap the idea, I just think it gives me something to do and it could make intresting reading

Like Rick just said, the more you participate, the better. I don't think it will hurt, thats why I did an RP as well. Wasn't the best, just a sort of "Aftermath" thing to help people get into my charecters mindset, but it's going to get people looking at my charecter a little more, which is what I want. I think letting people know what kinda person Carmen is is a good idea. It works.

Fantastic show man, and absolute congrats to Ricky for all the work he put into it - of course, along with the other staff members.

I'm pleased to have a second cahnce at the title, and I definately know I will have to step up my game. Mainly because I know that particular RP wasn't as fantastic as my others. Good job to everyone who RPed. Looking forward to the card, and good luck to anyone in the tournament.

Judging by all the reactions...I would say that this show went over pretty well. With that in mind, I pose this question:

Would you enjoy more mini-shows like this instead of big Meltdowns all the time? I for one found this to be far more manageable, and it seems like it got a lot of, if not more positive feedback than Meltdown episodes.

Well honestly, it could work to shorten the shows. I mean, not as short as the special as such. But have shorter shows, with shorter cards.

Although my brain just skipped again, so maybe that isn't such a good idea. I mean, in theory it would get the shows up quicker, however ... you couldn't tell the whole story of the show, and people would get left out of the card.

Of course, you could just have a part 1 to the Meltdown, and part 2 type thing, but that would make each part seem uncomplete.

Well it's a back and forth argument, at the moment I'm not sure myself. I'd keep it how it is at the moment, and we'd just have to buckle down and write cards as soon as possible, except something it isn't possible, which is kinda the problem in the first place.

Side Note: I probably won't be as into this for a few weeks, because it has come that time of year again (sigh) where I have quite a few assignments due. I'll still make time to RP whenever neccessary though.

I have a theory on why the show went as good as it did with us. Normally, right after RPs are done, people will chat away in the discussion thread, and eventually, that discussion dies till the shows posted. With this show, there was so liuttle time between the two that it never had time to die down, which is why it was so hot.

That almost didn't even answer your question though. I think a mini show could be OK once in a while, but how would you go about doing it? Of the 19 people on the roster, only 7 RPed this time, and there are some people that havn't RPed in over two months because of that, some even more. It's not that often we have need for a battle royal to determine a spot in a tournament, after all. I think cards that include the entire roster, or as close to it as possible, are the safest bets, unless we have a situation like this one. But with things looking up, and our next show crowning one of 5 people to be our new champ, a triple threat for the Elite X title, and NorCal VS Micheals, that card is already awesome, most of it's been built up for a while. Just make sure that, with this being a PPV, that we all get onto the card somehow. I know Ben and Milenko were upset to be left off the last card (I know Milenko was added eventually...)

After re-reading that, I realized it might come off as one of my "bitching" posts. it's not bitching at all, just me offering my opinion.

Also Ricky, did you get the message I left you on MSN last night?

to be completely honest you don't need to write an essay to tell the story of a match. I think short matches are a good idea, we don't need a play by play description week in and week out about what happend. as an RP'r all you need on a weekly basis is the story of the match and how it went. nobody ever revolves their rp around a "kick to the mid-section followed by a DDT" - its the key elemnts we need on a weekly basis

PPV's on the other hand can be very detailed and by doing this you get your weekly shows out promtly and with all the information thats needed and it set's the PPV's apart as they are detailed - it makes them speicial.

I used to run a fed a few years ago and I had two weekly shows (due to a roster of over 25 all vying for two singles titles) and my matches would rarely go over a paragraph long as I just said who has the momentum, key points in the match and the the finale

PPV's on the other hand woud usually run in to well over 30 pages in word on font size 10

anyways - theres my two cents (so much for sticking to RP's only, lol)

I actually think thats a reall good idea. I mean, I will be completely honest that when I read alot of matchs, I simply skip over alot of the random fighting till I find the details that mean somthing. and some peple don't even read what anyone else is doing. So maybe shorter matchs is a good point.
