WZCW Discussion Thread

For everyone that does not venture out of the forums, or into the spam sections, check out the bracket for the annual WrestleZone Tournament, and place your predictions! First matches open up for discussion on Monday, with voting beginning Tuesday. There's 128 wrestlers in the mix, so 127 matches. A great way to learn some shit about guys you may not be familiar with, as well as a way to make yourself a little more known around here. It's always a lot of fun, so don't miss out:

Arrive.
Vote.
Leave.

That's been my participation for the last 6 years or so in those tournaments. I'll vote, rep Cena supporters, and help moderate it but I stay out of the discussions. It's not worth it. I do enjoy reading the arguments sometimes though. Idiocy like "Andre cannot climb a ladder" and "He beats Blue Demon because he beat Mysterio" are always hilarious.

Just finished my RP. Hope I can put a challenge to Killjoy and win the match. This RP is inspired by some real events which altered the complete context of the RP.

There are plenty of big names in the Meltdown card yet I want Vee vs Matt to be the main event. Just a wish that I fancy.

Mine's outlined. I'll probably start writing it today. Mondays and tuesdays are always really busy for me so it would be more convenient to get it done ahead of time.

I got 75% of mine done then lost interest in continuing to write. I'll probably wrap it up tonight then post it Monday night barring PM responses regarding cameo bits.

And my RP is posted. I tried 2 things I've never done before so any feedback will be met with Rep and return feedback.

If we weren't dealing with the possibility of Haiku being gone, and needing to address the World Title, I would definitely agree that the Gold Rush matches would be the main attractions. They still will be, but it'll be shuffled a bit.

I posted it here, and 3 people filled out brackets.

Nobody picked The Immortal Hulk Hogan? I got him vs Stone Cold in the finals and Hogan wins.

Hogan usually suffers in the tournament, for being a bit of a dick in real life. He'll win 2-3 rounds easily, and then the gimmick matches come along (3rd-4th rounds) and someone comes up with a reason he'd lose and the sheep jump in front of the train. It doesn't help that he always ends up in a tough bracket (i.e. Goldberg this year).

Feedback's up for Milenko. My RP's mostly done too other than polishing. Now for some FF4 The After Years....!

Gimmick matches? Oh, maybe I should have looked closer at stuff...I thought it was all straight up singles contests.

That's on me, for failing to mention it. The first 2 rounds are in whatever location is listed between the names, and I tried to keep them close to that region's #1's home area, or areas they did well in (Stone Cold having Chicago, Rock having LA and NY, etc). The 3rd and 4th rounds are in the #1's hometown, and are gimmick matches that are selected at random. This is where the "Hogan can't climb a ladder" argument came in. The final three rounds are fought KOTR style, in a one-night winner takes all tournament. If someone wins their first match 55-52, and their opponent won theirs 60-22, the general idea is that the 60-22 had an easier match, and is therefore less beat up coming into the next match.

The debates are no joke. You may lose an arm or leg or even your dignity in the resulting scuffle.

I thought about giving Tony Mancini a feedback but Double D said everything I wanted to say. I would simply give my feedback as "I corroborate Dagger Dias's Feedback"

Tony Mancini

Ok, so I see a lot of good in this RP but I also saw some negatives and the biggest negative may cost you the round. I will address the bad first.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read it and give feedback
I see a typo early on. "gloved" probably should have been "gloves". Not a big deal, but it's there, and instead of posting an RP this early it may be better to scan it for typos first or PM someone to take a look. If you did have a proofreader, then disregard that suggestion, although it would also mean your proofreader missed that same typo.
I had Jeff take a look at the last 2 RPs and he did catch all my typos. This time I did it myself and despite proofreading it a few times I missed it.
The name "Sally Boy" may not have been the best name idea, when there is also an "Uncle Sal" in that same scene. I got Sally Boy and Uncle Sal mixed up briefly. Without spoiling what happened to anyone who hasn't read the RP yet, it made me a little uncomfortable to read the full scene of what Don Angelo did to Sally Boy. Keep in mind that younger viewers may read this section. Others (Infinity, I believe) have written things like that in the past, and yes things like that do happen in the real world, however this was perhaps a little too controversial for fed writing. The worst part however is that the scene didn't feel necessary. Had your RP begun with the Stacy interview, I think it would have been a lot stronger. That may just be me though. If the flashback needed to be in there then I would have cut to Tony going up the stairs after the brass knuckles part, removing the part that takes place right before Tony runs up the stairs. I also would have added something more to tie the flashback in to the match with Veejay somehow.
Honestly I didn't even think of how similar the names are. As for switching the 2 parts around I wanted people to have that flashback in mind when they see him flirt with Stacey.
Tony's line where he speaks of Titus and Eve was a little confusing, it makes it sound
like you called Titus a soon-to-be Eurasian Champion, when he already holds the belt. I would have put it as "A former WZCW World Champion as well as the current Eurasian Champion in Titus, and the current Elite Openweight Champion in Eve.". That may have been another typo, which with a little more proofreading could have been caught if that was the case.
I actually did that on purpose. I noticed at the time he wasn't Eurasian Champion yet. I can see how confusing that is though.
Alright, on a positive note, the interview was the best part of the RP. I think you did an excellent job with portraying Tony trying to charm Stacey and the part where he spoke in defense of his family. You also addressed Veejay's past struggles in other big matches, so this part was very strong. You did say you were doing something you've never done before with this RP. I applaud you for being willing to take such a risk. Just know that this same risk may have cost you the match.
Thank you. Those parts I'm particularly proud of.
If Creative had said they were ok with you including the entirety of the flashback, then that was their decision to make.
.
I was worried about the flashback so I sent it to Yaz first. It's actually the reason why I was mostly done before the boards were even up, in case I had to change it.
It truly made me uncomfortable though and the same may end up holding true for others who read it, so take that with a grain of salt, but I know I would want you to be honest with me if something I wrote was difficult for you to read if the roles were reversed here.
In all honesty uncomfortable was what I was going for. I wanted to write it like something you would have seen in The Sopranos. That show made me uncomfortable quite often
Still, it took guts to submit something like that.
I hope it works out for me
It made me hate Tony's father. If that was your goal, you accomplished that.
Actually no but it is a pleasant side effect, Angelo is not a nice man. My main goal was to start showing how Tony became the man he is. I'll continue fleshing it out but without the massive amounts of uncomfortable
Despite some typos and the content of the flashback, it's a good effort and I wish you luck in your match!
Thank you again, I'll get you back when you post your RP.

No problem.

Titus won the title back in November though?

Never seen that show so I wouldn't know. That was the most uncomfortable an RP has made me feel since Barrett Stratton but as long as Yaz and his guys are ok with it then it's fine.

If that was the intention I would build more on how his Angelo may have brought him in while focusing on connecting it to your opponent somehow.

Thank you again, I'll get you back when you post your RP.

Anytime, dude. I had some fun with mine so we'll see how it goes. I have a busy couple of days between work, class, and church stuff so it may not be up until wednesday. It's done other than polishing though. Looking forward to what you and others think.
