WZCW Discussion Thread

So I accidentally kicked a cupboard door and lacerated the skin between my little and ring toe, but that wasn't the worst part. It also gave me a fuckton of blunt trauma, and a shite ton of pain.

How about an RKO named The Dragon Slayer? If creative wants me to change the name upon adding an RKO, that's what I'd go with. It'd be hard to part with the name Critical Hit though.

If I can get approval from creative I will post it to the character changes thread after work.

I remember when just about everyone in the WWE could do an enziguri - even Kane, Big Show, and Cena.

Must be how you get initiated.

Vince: Do an enziguri!
Does one
Vince: You're in!

Vince: Do an enziguri!
Fails
Vince: You're firrrrrreeeeeeeddddddd!

I like the Critical Hit better.

"Dragon Slayer" doesn't stand out enough.

Lady and Gentlemen (that's right, I know the demographic here) make sure you catch the podcast tonight at 6:30! Or else you eat eggs!

I think there may be a tag team that takes issue with that name.

Throw a slight twist into it and I would say that Barbosa's Doppelganger/Omega Driver/Awful Waffle is about as close as it is possible to safely get to Zangief's Spinning Piledriver.

I could always maybe use Captain America's Final Justice, but that would have to be a Finisher and not a Signature.

Then again, the submission portion of Jon hasn't really been touched on in matches.

Only real positive thing I can think of when doing multi RPs for single rounds is possibly being more in-depth with character development per cycle or going forward through your storyline to get to major events a tad faster.

I think, one big RP (talking 5k+ words) would be too much, but that broken down into two or three posts could work.

I'm actually kind of torn on my last RP, I'm not sure if I revealed too much now or escalated too quickly, but we'll see. I have a few end goals for Jon, but the in between is fairly week to week, save already having the ideas for the journals.

I did some immense character development in one single 3500 word rp last round without going into the gory details and flashback after flashback just to fill space. In my rp you came to understand Califa once earned money illegally, how much Maria tormented him, how much she needed to be with him, the depth of Califa's feelings on his partnership with Amber, how Califa never let his old life go until that night, the dangerous edge he almost fell off of back to his old ways represented by Maria, I mean shit the list goes on and I got that covered in a single RP. The message of your rp can be lost if it isnt followed up with just as easily a powerful companion RP if you do the multiple rp a round method. When the message has been delivered, let it breathe and salivate on the reader's mind, it'll have a far greater impact then throwing you immediately to the next revelation.

That's the main difference between feds like this and basically every other fed. Most feds have multiple RPs per match... and it tends to turn into more of a debate contest than an artistic competition, which ultimately is what this is. We're all writing creatively in hopes of entertaining our readers and advancing our characters. That artistry is stifled when you're worried about replying to your opponents insults. There is little room for creativity when you're worried about replies and retorts.

There's also a huge difference in the pace you can advance your character. It's similar, IMO, to the pace angles and storylines advance in wrestling now compared to the 80's and 90's. Back then, there was maybe one national show a week, and maybe 2-4 PPVs a year. An angle would take a year to develop, such as Hulk Hogan vs Macho Man @ WrestleMania V. Now a days you have an angle such as CM Punk's Pipe Bomb/Leaving WWE After MITB resolving itself within the month. Similarly, Daniel Bryan was a member of The Wyatt Family for no longer than 2 weeks and turned. If this was 20 years ago, that angle would have lasted at least half a year. But today you have so much exposure to TV, and a PPV every month that you can't really blame them for moving storylines forward so quickly.

Essentially that's what would happen to characters in this other fed, or most other feds. A character change that, here in WZCW would take a full cycle or two, which translates to 2-4 months.... could happen in other feds in just a week or two. I find it less difficult in terms of actual physical work and effort to write 1 RP per match... but creatively and artistically, it's much harder to properly develop your character. I feel as if every two weeks, we're adding another chapter to our character. Other places... you throw out so many RPs, so many of them filled with debate styled replies and retorts, that it waters down and sullies your RPs as a whole. It doesn't feel like a chapter for your character. It's just a vomit of RPs meant to try and win a match.

Here, like what Phoenix said... it's like an art show, where we can walk around and admire everyone's work once every two weeks. Do you know how hard it would be to keep up with El Califa Dragon if this were another fed? Can you imagine having to read 5-8 of Ty's 3-6K RPs just to know what's going on with Los Magnificos Dragones this round? It's the reason I believe there is a level of fed comradery here that is extremely hard for other feds to attain. More often here it feels like we work together and praise each other than actually compete. I truly believe only having to write/read 1 RP every 2 weeks has a lot to do with it. If this fed weren't this way, I wouldn't be able to be a part of it.

Edit:

Oh, and Dags... Critical Hit might be the best finisher name in the fed.

I agree and prefer keeping the name Critical Hit myself. The name stays if creatve has no issues with it.... Changing to an RKO would be awesome though.

Y'know what I think might be kind of cool, especially for depth of character wise regarding the finisher?

Critical Hits are often on a % random scale. It would be kind of cool if Theron tried to hit the Critical Hit as randomly as possible, like how DDP used to do it with the Diamond Cutter.

Such as:

Theron, going for a standing suplex, holds his opponent up for a little bit and-- WHAT THE--?!?! CRITICAL HIT OUTTA NO WHERE!!

That does sound cool, but just as long as he doesn't start doing it this week.
