WZCW Discussion Thread

I used to be in a fed years ago that had like a 5 RP max or something, 8 for PPVs... maybe more... and weekly, people would max out left and right. It made it so that to have any shot of winning a match, you had to max out. I remember winning their Royal Rumble match by writing the max 8 RPs and each one being like 3-5K words. It was like the hardest I ever worked for a fed... and I didn't have fun to be honest.

I didn't really know this place allowed more than 1 RP, and I've been here like a year and a half now... but I still wouldn't RP more than once. I don't want to beat somebody because I can write more.

The first or second podcast mentioned something about a guy waiting for his opponent to post, then posting his RP, then his opponent posted another, equally long RP.

That's how my first couple feds when I was younger was. Hell that's how most are run now.

We're actually in the minority for posting a single RP per round.

That....that doesn't even sound fun. I remember spending about 5 hours writing my third of the Lethal Lottery last year, and I was done. I couldn't even look at my screen anymore. Writing 40,000 words in a week span would be the death of me.

The only reason it'd be fairly easy for me (not that I'd want to mind you) is that my job entails a lot of documentation writing.

My apologies for the second rp. It was really belonging in the random thread but I addressed hyada in after writing it so I decided against my better judgement to put it in with the match. It was meant to be a tongue in cheek rp.

Putting the finishing touches on my RP. It's just about done although something still feels like it's missing. If a couple of you want to take a look, let me know.

The only thing that would save me is I can write at a ridiculous clip in terms of words per minute. I haven't tested in quite awhile but I was over 160 wpm last I checked.

My biggest thing on that is, exactly HOW much material would you use up for something like that before it got ridiculously stale? Like right now JAM and I got most of what we're going to RP about lined up for a good while, we just fit the situation around that material. Writing enough RPs for two cycles in one shot seems like a waste to me.

Now if you were doing straight replies back and forth, then yeah I could see that. But I hate call and response RPs. It's unoriginal in my eyes. It's using your opponent's material and not your own. It took me a little while just to break myself of that habit when I started in WZCW. Showtime and I were notorious for it when we started. Eventually it was boring and sucked so we upped our game up a bit.

Only real positive thing I can think of when doing multi RPs for single rounds is possibly being more in-depth with character development per cycle or going forward through your storyline to get to major events a tad faster.

I think, one big RP (talking 5k+ words) would be too much, but that broken down into two or three posts could work.

I'm actually kind of torn on my last RP, I'm not sure if I revealed too much now or escalated too quickly, but we'll see. I have a few end goals for Jon, but the in between is fairly week to week, save already having the ideas for the journals.

I did some immense character development in one single 3500 word rp last round without going into the gory details and flashback after flashback just to fill space. In my rp you came to understand Califa once earned money illegally, how much Maria tormented him, how much she needed to be with him, the depth of Califa's feelings on his partnership with Amber, how Califa never let his old life go until that night, the dangerous edge he almost fell off of back to his old ways represented by Maria, I mean shit the list goes on and I got that covered in a single RP. The message of your rp can be lost if it isnt followed up with just as easily a powerful companion RP if you do the multiple rp a round method. When the message has been delivered, let it breathe and salivate on the reader's mind, it'll have a far greater impact then throwing you immediately to the next revelation.

In my opinion it's better that way. I feel that I could probably accomplish the same in 3000 words as I could in 10000. And I'm sure it would be Hell on Creative to read 3 or 4 RP's from everyone each round.

That's how I feel too. It cuts the fat out and makes for a more clear and concise writing. And this is coming from two people who go all out on description.

Creative would be hell. I wouldn't of made it to HoC if I had to read 10,000 words from each person. Some were hard to stomach the 1000 words of vomit they came up with.*

*Not a knock against Thriller. Legitimately.

Absolutely no worries man, just know that one really strong RP will always beat ten less strong RPs. I felt your first RP could stand alone by itself, but I understand that need for perfection, man.

For the record, your first RP was quite good. I offered some feedback in the feedback thread, so feel free to go look it up. In that RP (and your random RP thread one) you got a lot of good character depth down, so don't get discouraged. You got some good ideas, and I think a few tweaks will always help. Really just like anyone, hell, everyone can use tweaks.

Except me; Dr. Zeus is perfect, and I better not see any crappy fanfic out on him.

I think there should be something said for picking your spots, too. There's a time and place for that kind of revelation. I know one day day, I have to write it. I have to write that RP, where Zeus finally comes to grips with his crushing loneliness, and gives into the voices in his head. But it won't come until the story calls for it, and until I have a big enough match

We're supposed to read?! The hell has creative had me doing the past month?!

I remember those times, I think it's why we kept booking you two together because it was an never ending story of RPs.

But I definitely think the one RP per person round has done so well here because it is putting your own quality in place, like doing something for an arts fair and being judged when the product is put forth. It shows a good amount of respect and time that each RPer gives to their match and not necessarily going 'What will my opponent say?' just to counter, but rather knowing you can go into a match and play top trumps to the best of your abilities on the first go. If you're not successful, there's always next week.

Is the deadline tomorrow 11.59pm CST like usual?

Being in the UK, I've got myself all confused if the deadline is tonight or tomorrow?

Are moves such as the RKO or the Stone Cold Stunner still banned? I recall someone saying no back when I first applied but with the ban list not being up to date, I figured I'd ask in here now that several people have left.

If possible.... I would like to replace Starship Pain with an RKO for Theron's finisher. It would retain the Critical Hit name (unless I'm asked to change it, then I'd come up with another name). If I can't, no big deal. Just thought I'd ask. :)

I totally agree. Your 1.7 billion word RPs were almost always some of the easier ones to read because you made them flow so well. Part of the reason I keep mine so short is because I don't trust myself to keep a coherent story once I get too far over 1,000 words. Hell, some people can't do that over 500 words.

I totally agree. Not to insult those other feds, but I feel like it takes much less talent and character ability to do the insult-and-response style than it does for our style.

Yeah, I was actually going to bring up that Theron's finishers/signature moves were the only things I disliked about him. Two diving moves as finishers, and another as a signature is kind of ridiculous, and the other signature requires a foreign object, so a quick move like a Stunner or RKO would do wonders for Theron.

How do we feel about the Sharpshooter?

I remember at one point at least six people had the sharpshooter as one of their moves, only one might have it as a finisher, but I can't remember. Enziguri was the most popular though.
