I just like to point out that I want Ricky to be an actual heel that people hate, and I like to think it's working.

Fuck yeah - huge music festival line up just got announced: Green Day, Megadeth, A7X, Rob Zombie, Korn, Placebo, Biffy Clyro, Alice In Chains, Living Colour, FFDP and Stone Temple Pilots to name a few. I'm pumped.

A7X, Jane's Addiction, Alice in Chains, Volbeat and about 30 other bands are gonna be doing a 2 day festival at the Gorge in Eastern Washington. It's the Pac Northwest version of Ozzfest. It's called Pain in the Grass.

I'm fucking STOKED.

All this talk about rock...

Am I the only one here that does the whole house/EDM thing? I'm all about that shit.

I live in Seattle now, but I was born and raised in West Virginia.

(For the new guys in the fed, I just got out of the Army and moved up here)

So I grew up on Country, but old-school Outlaw country like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, etc. Hank Williams, Jr. Was my Dad's favorite. It wasn't until I got older (8-10) that I discovered Black Sabbath, Nirvana, Alice in Chains and so on.

Now I'm a fan of pretty much any type of music.

Except bluegrass.

Fuck bluegrass

80's hair metal is where it's at. Nightwish may be my favorite of all, but the vast majority of my music is 80's hair metal.

I'll listen to Trance or downtempo every so often, maaaaybe a little dubstep to give my sub some exercise. Mostly a hip hop and black/death/thrashy metal fan though.

Happy birthday Blade. Enjoy the bottle of fine whiskey you swiped from that KC afterparty that only the winners were invited to. Yeah, Saboteur saw you in the corner behind the bush, but he was too busy testing out his dance moves to say anything.

And happy birthday to Baby Alhazred. I'm glad that this one was made the old fashioned way and not in laboratory.

Being drunk is better than being a winner.

I may have a problem...

Also, feedback is up for those who asked for it. I may or may not get around to Cooper later. Luckily for y'all, I'm not celebrating my birthday till tomorrow.

Happy birthday for yesterday Miko

Happy birthday for today Blade

Congrats on the minion Skully

Any other things I need to talk about?

I don't know what can be worse. Red Skull sharing the same birthday as Blade or Blade surviving another year of being Irish.

Who cares, lets party!

I am speaking from personal preference alone, but I really don't like the format of RPs that have centered text. I believe it was Gelgarin, back in the day, that wrote up a brilliant post about there being scientific evidence for text needing to be aligned to the left in order to make it easier to read.

Found it:

Reading a book is different to reading on a computer screen? Why did nobody ever tell me this?

Legitimate question: Why don't you centralise all the rest of your posts as well? Surely the exact same logic would apply there.

Or alternately: rubbish. 95% of everything published for an on screen medium is formatted in exactly the same way. You might not like it, but almost every newspaper, information depository, repository for fiction or other website that is going to be publishing large blocks of text does so with a mono-colour font aligned down the left margin. You might legitimately prefer text centralised (although there is scientific reasoning behind why most people don't) and might find every other post anyone makes anywhere on this or any other forum to be a tedium to read, but you're in the definite minority. Books produced for Kindle, which are now beginning to outsell their paper based counterparts, are formatted exactly as they would be when produced for paper - with the text aligned with the left side of the page. Being on a screen does not make a HUGE HUGE difference.

There is actually some science behind aligning text with the margin of the page. When reading text the eye functions much like an old fashioned type writer. It starts focused on the beginning of a line and works its way across the page. When it gets to the end of the line it resets at the start of the next one. If text is aligned with the side of the page then the eye is resetting to the same point at the end of every line, whereas with centralised text the eye is constantly having to scan back and forth because no two lines start in the same place. This leads to a more straining reading experience. I don't know if you've ever tried centralising text on a typewriter, but it's a fucking nightmare. As a matter of fact (although I can't back this assertion up) I would imagine that the additional strain of centralised text would typically be exacerbated when reading off of a screen, since the eyes are generally not keen on that to begin with.

My principle is sound. How much anybody gives a shit is going to vary from person to person, but when people ask me for advice they are shockingly going to hear on the subject that I give a moderately large shit about.

So yeah; I do recognise that this stuff goes on a screen, I just don't recognise why that makes very much difference.
