Not to be that guy to Pancake (sorry man), but I still don't necessarily get the extension because your opponent asked for one, especially when DC couldn't get one because he asked really close to Monday for what seems a pretty valid reason.

But then again, I'm also that guy when it comes to extensions anyway

That rule has been in place for a while, and in a way it does make sense: If one person has an extra 24 hours, it can be construed as unfair for his opponent to have less time. Extensions have gotten out of hand, but I can't speak too badly about it because I've been known to take advantage of my match having extensions before.

I get why it's a thing. The thread's open anyway, the judging can't start anyway and if only one person had the extension it technically gives them an advantage over their opponent.

Were it a response sort of thing where we respond to other RP's, I'd agree.

But it really isn't. I don't necessarily see an advantage, I see it more as a choice not to take the extension if you don't ask for it. I guess it gives more prep time to the person you're facing, but I just don't see the advantage. Furthermore, for this round, what if Runn or Howard were in the battle royale to get into the tournament? Would we offer every match an extension?

Again, not that big a thing, just what I think. And again, I'm not a proponent to extensions to begin with.

I guess the only real response I can give to this is that extensions haven't bothered me one way or the other. Only time when extensions have ever bothered me is when they are granted and the person still no-shows. Other than that I can't ever find myself visably upset with someone needing an extra day to write.

I actually have the perfect idea for what I can do with Showtime, which y'all may get a taste of if DC beats Krypto.

I think I'm getting Krypto next round though, so I'm not sure you'll get to see it

I'm hoping Tastic knocks you out so I can face him. Hope there's no hard feelings.

I love the ability to use your opponent's extension even if you didn't ask for it. I think I've only ever asked for an extension once, and I didn't even need it, but that doesn't mean there are times I've wanted an extension but didn't have a valid reason to get one.

Basically if your opponent is going to inconvenience the fed, why shouldn't you be allowed to get a little extra time from that?

Zeus, are you free tonight for a pm session?

Maaaybe. I can't say maybe enough. Shoot me a PM, but I also have date night tonight. But I'll try

None taken at all. I did like Tastic's RP, and I'd have no issue with him advancing at all.

I guess that's true, and can see that. I guess I just don't see the advantage.

Extensions never really bother me, either, but abusing them do. And trust me, I know this isn't the case here, I know there isn't an abuse of extensions of this round. But man that round with like seven extensions requested in two days annoyed me a little

That is pretty much all there is to it. As Remix said, the thread remains open if an extension is requested, so it's not going to kill anyone giving the opponent the extension by default.

The deadline/extension thing is always going to be a difficult one to manage. Even when I was HoC we were trying to make the rules stricter on extensions and deadlines. It starts off fine for awhile as it kind of jolts everyone, but I said if you needed an extension it better be a good reason and to let us know. I'm assuming no one lied about personal reasons for needing an extension but I did get a number of serious issues messaged to me for needing it.

The only way to really make the deadline/extension thing stick and work is you put the hard deadline on Tuesday or Wednesday, no questions asked, no extensions, notta. If you have something come up and you can't make deadline, message creative your reason and take the loss. If you have a valid reason, then it doesn't count as a strike against you. If you just didn't bother writing, then you get a strike.

I just hate extensions because they delay voting.

Plus every round there's at least a decent sized amount of people that make the "better get started on my RP" comments the day of the deadline.

Then again, the strike rule has never been enforced.

Pretty sure FWR is nearing the double digits in no-shows.

I'm sure we've had a couple of deadwood expulsions (Milenko, basically all of the mentor program)

I could be wrong, but I think FWR is the only one to ever be allowed back in after being a victim of deadwood rules. I even wrote him a fancy Armando Paradyse unmasking send-off and everything.

What is deadwood rules, exactly? I'm under the impression that strikes expire after KC.

Deadwood rules basically means that if any Rper no-shows, he is kicked out of the fed for good. To correct myself, I was wrong about him losing deadwood rules, but not far off. He won the match via a no-show by Bull, and then no-showed the next 1 or 2 matches.

I got bored and decided to go back and count all his no-shows up. Sorry, FWR, I don't mean to bust your balls so much, but my goodness.

  1. AF 26: Isabel Stone vs. The Angel
  2. *AF24: Carnival of Carnage vs. The Angel & Amber Warren - I believe JAM wrote two Rps for him and FWR.
  3. AF18: The Angel vs. James Carter vs Thrash vs Dustin Hunter
  4. AF16: Isabel Stone vs. The Angel
  5. AF15: Titus vs The Angel
  6. Jack Skinner vs. Armando Paradyse
  7. AF 10: Phoenix vs. Armando Paradyse
  8. AF 5: Joe West vs. Darren Bull vs. Triple X vs. Armando Paradyse (Over the top rope)
  9. AF4 - Jack Skinner vs. Armando Paraydse (Lethal Lottery Qualifier)
