I have an idea for a new gimmick I think i'd have fun writing for, but it'd require the end of Dustin Hunter first. At this point i'm not sure I wanna do that.
Honest Advice: Pick a direction for Hunter and stick to it at the exclusion of everything else. I know you won't have Brent Blaze and the CoC to run with but stick with the idea for a few rounds. You never know you might hit on something awesome.
You want him to become a crazed goddamn Carny? Then go for it all out, subtlety can wait until you're more confident with the character, get him talking in pig-latin and cheating to win right now and stick to your guns.
I promise, you'll find more success that way than with the directionless character Dustin Hunter has been so far.

That's why I have only considered writing for an entire new person to this point. I think the horror stuff could work for me and i'm giving it a shot.
When I say i'm considering writing a new gimmick altogether, this wouldn't happen until at least after Kingdom Come. I've worked hard to establish Dustin and I think i'm finally able to tap into him better.

Ever heard of King Cup?
You get a 54 card deck and unless you draw the Joker (get out of drinking for 1 turn), every time you draw a card, at least one person will be forced to drink and/or take a shot. If you draw the King, everyone fills up a quarter of the biggest drinking apparatus you can find. Upon the drawing of the 4th King, the game stops and the person who draws the King has to skull (quickly drink) the entire thing. Game restarts after a small bathroom break.
I've survived three full games before being on the verge of passing out.

You can modify the cards to rules which suit the amount of players you have. Generally, we use:
*Every drink/penalty is worth 2 Mississippi seconds or a shot
A, 2 & 3 = You drink, you and someone else drink, you and two others drink (respectively)
Queen = The Bitch - if you drew the most recent queen, you must follow one command from every player (not too graphic or awkward)
Jack = The Drinking Buddy - every time someone else has to drink (except the bitch), you must drink.
Then you can assign the other cards for rhyming games, one-word stories, the shot clock round (everyone shots) word association and a whole bunch of other mini-games. My favourite is restrictions where for the entire game, you must follow a set of rules and if you break them, you drink.
