I am always interested in what certain places teach in their Theology departments.

Frequently, I have come up against Divinity courses - essentially a university course you take to become a priest - masquerading as Theology courses with the students not actually studying religion and its development but instead getting a master class in indoctrination.

Not at all. More directed at the hiding of religious dogma behind the façade of learning.

I like learning about religions. My favourite course at university was called The Rise Of Christianity and was split into two sections on The Jewish Background and The Conversion of the Roman Empire. I would say that I learned more about the development of Christianity in those two courses than people doing Divinity do in a three year course.

I was a dock worker for 3 years. Now I can be qualified to be the boss of a bunch of dock workers if I wanted to. I should have just gotten a degree in Quality Assurance or Quality Control. Would have made lots of money without doing much of anything.
