Do really you need anything else?

Seriously, arguably the two best shows on TV right now.

I guess you could watch the latest episode of MLP, Talon.

I'm watching the different intro videos for SmackDown & RAW, & I gotta say, it's jaw-dropping when you look at WWE from 10 years ago to now. Just stunning really.

I mean, 10 years ago:

Now:

It just shows you how much TV potential has changed over the last 10 years. To be honest, the intros back then were pretty damn impressive. They just look shit next to HD. It's like comparing a gramophone record to an MP3 in some regards. Quality generally moves with time.

Agreed. I liked how WWE was back then, but I do think that WWE today is still pretty damn awesome. I'm not trying to really say that one era was better than the other, I was just marveling at how far WWE has progressed in the past 10 years.

I wouldn't say that it has progressed that much at all actually. They still offer the same things as they did 10 years ago, quality wrestling, booking and entertainment. They have, however, moved on with the times and their production values have improved drastically. I think it also speaks volumes for what the WWE were driving at then and now. The video from 10 years ago is very grungy and close. It feels as though it is gripping you. When you couple that with the Attitude Era, it just works. The same goes for the newer videos, that are more clean-cut and professional. That just seems appropriate too.

I agree with what you're saying but I think what Dave was trying to say was the wider point. TV Production in general has come on significantly in the last ten years, which in turn had come on massively from ten years before that. Look back at Babylon 5, seriously, don't look it up on wikipedia, look at a clip. Then try and guess the year... Go on I'll wait...

That show ran from 93-98 so it's less than twenty years old, the SFX involved look horrendously dated. Compare that to modern SFX work and the difference is remarkable. Ironically it's easier now than ever to get a sci-fi show that looks right from top to bottom, but nothing works (IMO it looks too clean, part of the appeal of the original Star Wars movies were that they looked grimy and dirty, Mos Eisley looked like a wretched hive of scum and villainy). Production Quality will continue to improve and in ten years time, guys like us who will dabble in video editing for fun will be able to do stuff like that. Actual TV will have moved on to something even more advanced.

Agreed.. WWE went from Katie Vick to Rise Above Hate... I can't think of any other program with change like that.

Should Katie Vick invoke a Godwin's law somewhere? In any argument about wrestling, the loser will mention Katie Vick.

As a side note I agree, as someone who had stopped watching wrestling around the time Foley got "retired" by HHH (Pre-invasion) and came back during the Nexus storyline (seriously I had to google who this Daniel Bryan was they were all chanting for - glad I did tbh he's easily one of the best guys WWE has right now in my opinion). The difference is huge, it's bloody monumental how different it is.

I thought that cop out was "____ sucks ____ can't wrestle."
