It's been happening to everyone: I've only been experiencing people posting replies that later go missing then re-appear some time after though, nothing about PM's and my own posts.

He hasn't posted since early August so take that for what it is worth. Then again I think someone once said to not post to win, but post to develop your character. I do see the disheartened feeling in spending hard work on a roleplay only to have the person no-show though.

Just because your opponent is potentially going to no-show doesn't mean you should create a lesser RP or lower the quality of your RP's. Always be prepared and make the best RP you can each week as sometimes you might get hit with an opportunity out of the blue.

I RP'd for a Dark Match battle royale at Apocalypse: turns out I impressed creative enough to involve me in an angle, created a stable and challenged for the World Championship.
