I think I told you what I thought of yours but my general consensus is that it lacked real substance. I like the style because it's different however in this instance I would have done a second RP to follow it up and actually address the match in hand.

I've slipped into being a ghost around here recently, but I still check the WZCW forums quite often, even if I'm not vocal. I wish I could get all of you together for a night of fun. Lee, Doc, Killjoy, and Numbers can rock out on Rock Band or something, we can get the rookies into some hazing stunts, and Ty and I will be attempting to drink the other under the table. Good times.

I think a semi-relevant lolcat or similar internet meme is about the deserved response to that. Obviously I'm not actually going to go looking for one, but can we just assume that I did and that it wasn't particularly funny?
Personally I disagree. That would, in my mind, violate cannon. I will use bright magenta text in one of my pieces before I deliberately violate cannon. It was an open contest with undeclared participants, set in an undisclosed location at an undisclosed time. My character had entered the federation on one occasion, which predated both the announcement of the match and the applications of my opponents. In other words any attempt to address the match would have hinged on the use of information that I should not really have. That's a big deal for me, I actually got mildly pissed about being referenced in Hustla's first piece for the same reasons. I certainly wasn't going to waste three quarters of my first submission explaining away a plot hole just so I could fit into a preconceived structural convention.
Obviously the majority verdict disagrees, but that's my thought process on the matter. My literary whims are probably always going to trump my competitive nature.

Anyway, I don't know if this was directed at me or not; I can't imagine you'd play the whole "staff members have earned their stripes" card if you were addressing Lee, so I'll assume that it was.
I find minor fault in the idea that bringing something up in public is somehow an indication of cowardice, and a major irony in the nature of your message given its content.
That being said; I'd like to clarify that I have no interest in bitching about the result (I believe my direct quote was "mildly tiresome"). Personally I think it was wrong, but I'm going to think that nine times out of ten when I lose. I don't willingly submit inferior writing, and given that I often deal with publishers for a living my ego is sufficiently tenderized that I'm not going to care much is somebody doesn't like my stuff.
If that kind of faith in my own writing is going to be a problem then tell me now so I can make for the hills. How you deal with the constant "belittling" that must be generated from the prediction threads is beyond me.
Oh, and congratulations Hustla. As a completely unrelated aside, how come people have to serve significant time in the fed before they're allowed access to pyrotechnics, but Hustla was allowed to stroll into a house show with a flipping elephant in tow?
