WZCW Discussion Thread

Match writing mix up led to me being the only available person to write the Flex/Kag match for anybody wondering. We try not to let that happen unless it's under extreme circumstances.

Maybe a little.

Just as a heads up, I'll be gifting a Top Trumps card to anyone willing to give Meltdown or Ascension some feedback this round. Thanks, fellas.

EDIT: Anyone taking me up on the offer will get a shiny Theron Daggershield card. Ooooh!

Go on! Be a hero like Theron... :D

Negative(s) – The Eurasian Champion wasn’t even mentioned! Meltdown and Ascension is two separate brands. Even though Titus wasn’t in the show, he should’ve had a segment. I am not talking about everyone on the Ascension show, but just Titus because of him being the Champion.

Completely disagree with this considering I fought for the exact opposite for like an entire month. Titus is established, we all know what he's about, so he doesn't need to be doing segments on both shows. He'll probably get something on the second show. If you start wanting every champion on the show just because they're a champion you'll end up with the same 5 guys doing segments like it was after Kingdom Come. It's been a massive improvement by creative with spreading out segments so you get different character viewpoints and it works best when you book guys on one show and have their segment on the same show. Mention him on commentary or book his opponent for Unscripted on Meltdown and have them talk about Titus and the title. No need to add Titus to the show.

Interesting to hear your thoughts. We've been definitely making a lot of effort to spread out the air time and you lead the way on that front.

As a matter of discussion though, how many people in here would support a Brans Split for WZCW? Not saying that we are considering it BTW, just wondering if people would enjoy seeing that and what the positives / negatives would be.

Would we get another world & set of tag titles or would they float between brands. The midcard belts are still brand exclusive right?

Not sure. If I were to say something now, I would say that the midcard belts were the only things that were exclusive. But really, it can be anything that you want it to be. It's just for discussion more than anything.

The roster isn't big enough to maintain a brand split but the Elite X (yes I'm still calling it that) and Eurasian titles should be brand exclusive.

How many people are on the roster? The only way it wouldn't get boring is enough people for a good feud rotation. Facing the same guys every round would be boring.

Not a fan of the idea considering it could lead to facing the same people multiple times. If we did a WWE style brand split it would stretch the roster too thin, there's no way we should be having two sets of tag belts and two world titles. I do like the idea of having the Eurasian title exclusive to Meltdown and the Elite title exclusive to Ascension, maybe having those champions almost always main eventing "their" show, while the World Champion then still main events the PPV's. Anyone who is not a midcard champion and not a #1 contender for said titles should still be able to have matches on any given show that round.

The brand split will always be a terrible idea for WZCW. There are other ideas, some which we have used already, to mitigate larger rosters. For example, we added a third show in Aftershock so we weren't always hosting tag team matches just to fit people on the show, as well as that NXT-style Veteran-Rookie system to give newer guys a chance to build themselves up, and older guys something to do.

I don't foresee us getting back to a three page roster any time soon, and whilst that may mean WZCW needs to make changes to gain some popularity, brand split shouldn't be an issue at all.

The championships were exclusively defended on Meltdown & Ascension at one point in history; however, the creative team sometimes found it difficult to book the champions on their respective shows, due to showcasing the champions on major shows or other matches causing an imbalance in star power.

Whilst we are on the subject, I believe there is a problem with the championships - that aren't the World or Tag Titles - and that is they don't have a true definition of who can challenge for the titles, and if they do, they aren't adhered properly. What is the difference between the Eurasian and Elite Openweight championships right now? One is held by Titus, and the other is held by Eve Taylor. That's really it, and considering how well Lee and I have been doing recently, how does anyone who isn't a potential World title contender able to defeat us? I understand how people are chosen as challengers, and I understand people can win a championship and get absolutely amazing with the belt, making it hard to challenge for it (a la Sam Smith), but like the brand split notion, there are other alternatives.

I think the Elite Openweight title needs to start adhering to its name, as originally intended in discussions. Make it a television championship, and have it defended on every set of shows, similar to the Mayhem title. Give people who aren't considered for a title shot a chance to win a title; give them something to work towards and hone their skills. Random matches and title contender matches every so often doesn't cut it. It also differentiates the European/Elite titles, and gives a proper tier system. You can also bring back the multi-man matches and throw everyone in an Elite Openweight title match, instead of forcing matches to happen. I know I say this very late in my run, and when I'm performing well, but I think this is the perfect solution.

There are other problems like the quality of feuds, and booking them without following the WWE-style of interference/attacks/interference/attacks on repeat, but this would be a good start to encourage people to join, and keep people around to have a fun experience.

A big negative is the size of the roster, it is a bit too small to be splitting it up resulting in the repetitive match ups for both shows.

I think we should bring something back like the Mayhem Championship for the lower card guys to go for.

There are a lot of guys on the lower end of the card who are in limbo with nothing to do and having a title held by someone around their skill level gives them something to shoot for.

As Falk said All the singles champions are consistently pumping out Main Event level RPs and Jeff & Prophet have amazing chemistry and won't be easy to beat either.

I can't speak for anyone else but if I'm being honest I'm nowhere near the level of any champion and while I plan on getting there something to shoot for now would help me and others tremendously.

TL;DR version: I think a lower tier title (think European) would help new guys a lot.

Edit:Falkon's idea works as well.

On to another point to those same newer guys. if you're tired of waiting for creative to find you a feud then do it yourself. PM someone you would like to feud with and bounce ideas of each other until you come up with something that works for the 2 of you and go to creative with it. They may tweak it as well but only for the better.

Trust me it works. I don't know which of us PMed the other first but me and FWR came up with an idea that will last until at least the Lethal Lottery.

We could always bring back the Elite X Gauntlet. Eve would probably have completed it by now and honestly I liked it. It provided constant opportunities for people not involved with the other titles or upper-card non-title feuds.

I'm personally never a fan of the gauntlet simply because of how much the Elite X feuds sucked back then. They'd either never have a chance because the champion was rushed to the next challenger or there would be months of no actual stories happening surrounding the belt.

I found it exciting, things were constantly changing. Plus those who had nothing else to do could fall back on a shot in the gauntlet and then you had the contendership matches to open PPV's.

I understand some people did but with the ever-small revolving door of characters in that position however there wasn't much to do for those people beside lose, maybe win a contender match, and then lose again. That's honestly just what happens when extremely talented RPers get their grasp on a midcard title. And then it takes another person on their level to get it off them and the path of destruction begins a new. Don't just hand out title shots because there's nothing else make people work for it.
