WZCW Discussion Thread

I'll reread the shows now and start to write the show review :)

Much appreciated! I'm actually thinking of putting a thread somewhere, defining who the backstage interviewers really are, and how to use them, for two reasons. One, and mainly, so people aren't afraid to use someone who isn't Leon. Two, because I think it would clear up some of the segments on the shows.

Of course Stacey knows who Brittany is. But, she's a stuck up pretty blonde who talks shit to any other female, because she's an Alpha. So, she was disturbed Brittany was there during her interview with Logan. At least that's how I've always viewed her, and how she was when she was first introduced.

What happened to the face/heel listing of the roster? Did that get moved to the Creative Control? I know it was out of date by a cycle or two, but that thing was cool.

I liked this too. Mostly for matchmaking, but also for the new guys signing up who may want to fit in where there's less people. This is the reason I used a heel character, and not a face.

The thing I like with the roster listing is who is who (Ie Titus Avison, with surname, is Lee).

Agreed on this too.

You'd have to change it every time someone got a name change.

:disappointed:

Not a bad idea. Anything that makes people use Leon less frequently is a plus.

Way back when I first joined, it was a problem then also. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm assuming the underuse of Klamor and Stacey is due to people not knowing how to write them. I could probably include Everest as well, but he's more a special occasion thing, and if you're asking to use him, chances are you know about him anyway.

Banks, Bateman, and Becky are all pretty much off-limits, and Miss Hardwood is just a dotcom thing, so there's really no need to add them.

I use Leon and will continue to do so because he fits in with my heel character better.

Stacey would kick Tony in the nuts for pulling some of the shit on her he does to Leon.

That's kind of the point of branching out though. It adds a dynamic to your character that you can't get from just one interviewer. Leon fits well with every heel, so every heel is going to use him. But, what if they worked with Klamor, who may praise them, because he's basically molded off Heenan, who just happens to be his rep. And Stacey is vastly underutilized. So she kicks Mancini in the nuts. It shores him up as a heel. Or, maybe, because he's old school Italian, and he's around a woman, maybe he shows some respect, and doesn't play the jackass card around her?

There's a lot of ways every character can interact with each of the three interviewers, and I'd even say there may be room to add a fourth. But, not right now, when 2/3 don't get used enough anyway.

I'm trying to keep away from interviews with any of them for fear of writing them completely wrong. Plus I'm also trying to keep away from interview RPs right now since Prophet does them way better and both of us hashing out interview RPs is kind of too much of the same thing back to back.

I got an idea that not only would add another layer (hopefully) to Tony but I'll be using another interviewer as well.

So pumped for the next appearance of Norman Blip.

No interviewers needed just Norman Blip.

Or.... maybe, just maybe.... people could not do interview RP's so often? For me a good story that shows why your character should win is better than an interview 9 times out of 10. There's literally nothing worse than submitting something that every single other member of the fed could have submitted. This is why I dislike Leon interviews so much.

We can't be getting crazy over here.

I've been back like a month and I'm ready to start recycling ideas from 2010. The pancakes are coming back people!

Mine isn't a strict interview RP. I'm adding a short one after some character development with my hope being the interview will also add some character development.

You are in a special scenario, having a tag team partner though. And, I'm certainly not saying everyone needs to do an interview, but there's times where a round will come up, and 15 people do an interview, and 13 are Leon. My idea is based more in making sure the flexibility is there, than urging anyone to use it.

So is Vee A.D.Z. just "Vee" now?

I think that was a copy and paste error. Whoops...

Like I said to Milenko, every interview should be different. Doe's interactions with Klamor would vary greatly from Theron's. Same with any other characters.

I certainly don't use interviews a lot myself, but there's also ways to use backstage personnel, without it being an interview. With Trevor Steel, I took Leon to a metal show. FalKon wrote an RP where Eve and Stacey just sat down at a restaurant/bar. Don't picture them as just a cardboard cutout holding a microphone. Picture them as characters in their own right.

As for now, not much of us is using Leon for their RP. So I reckon bringing him up time to time won't hurt much. He can do interviews when it is much needed. I have written RPs for the last 6 or 7 rounds without having any backstage interviews with Leon, so if I use him for my next RP it wouldn't be a disadvantage to the slightly. Anyhow, that is just my perspective.

Try using Stacy instead of Leon if you feel the interview is needed then.

Right. I do consider them all as characters in their own right. Stacy comes off as the snobby stuck up heel female type. Klamor as a grouchy older heel male. Leon, however, does come off as the cardboard cutout you described. Sorry to keep burying him so much but he's boring. It might not bother me as much that 90% of interviews are him if something about him were more than just generic interview guy. As for interactions outside of interviews.... I still prefer seeing the wrestlers hanging around their own NPC's. I know not everyone has a whole Merry Band Of Misfits.... but several characters have significant others, friends, family, and all sorts of other NPC's that could be used in more interesting ways than the interviewers. I'd rather the interviewers only be on the shows personally.

It wouldn't be a disadvantage to you directly, but if everyone suddenly wrote a basic interview, using Leon, it would make a large group of RPs boring.

And, we read every RP. We would eventually see the trend of "Hey, Vee's only written 5 interviews, but they're all with Leon, and all say the same thing". Look at someone like Titus. Almost all of his RPs are interview-based, but you wouldn't know it without looking at them all back-to-back. There's different interactions, different stories, etc. And, it's seemed to have served him well.

I've always looked at Leon as the type of interviewer you can mold to fit any need. He's bland on the outside, and I think that's why he works perfectly with the "out there" characters. He's basically the straight man to the fantastical features of whoever he's paired with. With Doe, he's a scaredy cat. With someone like Mikey, he can be the friend that chills with you on the couch eating tacos.

These characters are all really only as good as you make them (you being generalized).
