WZCW Discussion Thread

I've considered the thought of random RP'ing to set up bigger RP's here and there, but I never have the time.

I was going to do that, but I guess it's just better to do it in posts for matches.

Not only will at least some people read it, but it'll count for a match.

It works if you're just starting out, have character development and get peoples thoughts, soon it gets to a point where saving any and all ideas for a match is better.

Has anybody ever like, RP'd with each other? Like just make up scenarios on the Random board or something and others join in if they wish?

Biggest issue with that is that it tends to lean towards quantity rather than quality. When I left WZCW for a little while I went and joined a different fed but I noticed that while I was putting out high quality 2000 word RPs, they were putting in 200 word RPs that were response and call in nature. They were garbage most of the time. Using the random RP thread for testing concepts for your RPs is fine, but using up a ton of material that could be put into RPs with actual consequence is not ideal and often times leave you unfocused on what your actual feud or storyline you have going on.

You can also burn yourself out real quick if you're busy posting multiple RP's in the random thread.

As it is right now you don't have a real storyline going, which is normal as you want to sort of get your feet wet first before getting tossed into a feud. What I would recommend is look into creating a personal story for your character, build up that back story and history for him so you can fall back on it later on if you have a hard time coming up with an RP. Character development RP's are often excellent reads and can also lead to use of that history to build feuds and stories later on.

So using the Random RP thread is fine for the right reasons, but ultimately don't go overboard on it. Focus on what you can do for your character, even if it's just writing shit on a Word Document that you can bring up later to review.

Gotcha, I figured more than likely that actually PRing with people (on a message board) would most likely ultimately boil down to quality falling in way for favor of quantity. Any RPing I used to do was completely chatroom/AIM based so it was easier to keep quality while maintaining quantity because of the real time nature.

I've been doing the Random RPs to help flesh out Jon, two so far with a third saved up that I've shown to a couple people, to try to link it with my match RPs because I don't know if I've hit the right... rhythm yet, if that makes sense. Like, how much am I supposed to reveal in a match RP, can it be done through like... thinking to oneself or does it need to be expressed verbally by the character. I have a plan for Jon, just not too sure if it's coming out properly. Essentially I think my writing style is pretty decent, just not entirely sure if I should keep the same space or bump it up, and definitely didn't want to be filling up the Random thread, especially if no one really looks at it.

Been there done that. However that helped build my writing foundation as I got to work with some excellent writers.

One thing to take into consideration that sometimes the more blunt statements don't have as much impact as merely writing those statements into description. Setting a scene with the right tone and atmosphere makes it so much more effective. Description is a very powerful tool that you can use at your disposal. The best writers in WZCW history have always had outstanding description in their writing. With writing RPs you need it to convey the emotions of the characters in your story. It puts a lot more emphasis on the dialogue you've put down and helps your audience visualize the scene in their head. A strong scene through description makes that all the better.

Also if you want a chance to look at some really good RPs that I have had against two of the best RPs I've ever faced, check these two threads out:

The first link is to my match with Showtime at Kingdom Come III. I still feel it's my best RP I've ever done. Showtime absolutely killed it with his as well. The second is when I faced off with Gordito and the current world champ Barbosa. Barbosa's RP was an absolutely stellar RP and would probably have beaten 98% of any other RPs. My RP was dialogue heavy but the minimal description I did use was highly effective in setting the scene.

Completely unrelated note:

Today I had the head of the kitchen staff at work tell me a story about him being Gangrel, not for like Halloween or anything, but actually being Gangrel. I played along but when he left I was like :suspic: :disappointed: :whatthe:

Yeah definitely, same for me as well.

Could I throw my saved one your way?

Boards are up. Match blurbs will be added when I get around to it(I'm lazy) and match graphics if KJ can find the time. He is a busy man, leave him alone.

We have one last WZCW App exclusive later today, teasing the returning superstar in KFAD. Let the speculation begins bitches.

Not RP'ing in the KFAD qualifier doesn't count as a no-show, right?

". All active roster members not booked in a match on the Apocalypse pay-per-view will be eligible to enter their name into the race. "

I hope this isn't what I think it is.
