I thought this was one of the best main events WZCW has put together in a long time... not storyline or build up wise, or even match writing wise... but I just really really wanted to get to this match. I would have paid to order this PPV just for the Main Event... after reading all the matches, you can get a little drained... and getting to Showtime vs Barbosa was just like... like Bruce Buffer just yelled "IIIIITS' TIIIME!!!!!" and I was amped.
That being said, congrats to Barbosa. I think Barbs is in for a nice title run here.
I was a little surprised to see Kurtesy pick up the win, but not really I guess. I was, however, confused as to why Sandy Deserts smacked Steven Kurtesy while he had the sleeper on Zeus... that was weird to me, but maybe I missed something. ::shrugs::
I enjoyed my match against Titus... the part where Titus cut the top rope was a bit curious to me, but I think it was Titus' attempt at taking away a part of the ring that Vega is very adept at using, thus taking away one of his weapons of sorts. At least, that's the way I'm rationalizing it... because Titus cutting the ropes essentially lead to nothing except the usage of the bolt cutters as a weapon. Either way, I'm happy with the victory.
7!
That's
7 title defenses for Vega!
People have been saying that I surpassed Alex Bowen's title reign once I made it to 19 (I think) rounds as champ... or even the fact that I held the title a longer time (month wise) than he did... but for me to fully feel as if I had surpassed Bowen as the true king of the division, and greatest Mayhem Champion ever... I needed this 7th title defense. Vega & Bowen were tied at 6 a piece... but man did I want this 7th one. My next goal is to make it a full calendar year. I won this title on my mother's birthday... 11/19. I'm only a month and a half away...
I also think it's pretty cool that Vega is the only person to have successfully defended his title at Redemption.
Well, that went about as well as I could have hoped with my shite RP.
And you wanted a shot at me next cycle...
I still think you got robbed if it helps soften the blow.
I agree. As well as I think Pancake did leading up to this PPV, I honestly thought he had either the worst or 2nd worst RP of the final four. I was a little surprised when he beat Krypto, but shocked when he beat Beard. Honestly stunned... but I hope Pancake pulls some great stuff out for this next cycle. I'm still skeptical he can keep it going...
Stupid Vance Bateman screwed Saboteur.
I was so let down by that swerve. Fuckin JGlass pulled a Russo on all of us. Worked well, though. I like that Holmes & Celeste have another reason to work together, and I think they'll be great for the tag division.
The application thread is coming some time within the next day or two.
Also, there aren't enough people praising the brilliance of the EurAsian triple threat. Praise it.
How Chris KO wasn't the one pinned in this match is beyond me. I take one star off that match just because of that.
