WZCW Discussion Thread

Thinking about doing one of those diary things on WZCW.com where West complains about real world topics and problems and politics, and other things that annoy him (me).

So, I was looking at the ban list (as ya do). Going by the banned moves Wunderbar couldn't return. Wasn't planning on bringing him back, but it seems like half of his non-finisher moves fall on to one list or another.

I had a hard time creating my character because of this. I mean, i understand moves that are taken by people on the active roster, but other people who dont participate anymore's moves should be free game

Wunderbar may have to be considered an exception but creating a moveset should be simple. I struggle to understand the issues we have now with it. The list should have made it easier.

I crave uniqueness in a character when I write a match. Wunderbar offered it, very few characters do though and we are forced to put some variety into it.

It's far from rule, but to me, boring moveset can mean boring character.

They're banned for a reason Meeks. Using established finishers as regular moves weakens the move and some are common as muck and having a roster made of clones is bad (mmkay).

Don't get me wrong Numbers, if I needed to I wouldn't have a problem with retooling his moveset, though I'd petition to keep the German Suplex, given his nationality. For me the hardest part about creating a moveset is selecting moves that make sence for the character.

I also think that part of the problem is that now you've got a list of things you can tell people to change, while other moves (like Stark's powerbomb variant and Wunderbar's European Uppercut and aforementioned German) and gimmicks slipped by.

It's why I'm so grateful to Falkon for actually taking the time to do it. It's needed to be done for months but it was a massive task and he did great at it.

And yes, clones are bad.

I couldn't create Anoki or Dragon with the new banned move list. Nor, interestingly enough, could a person create;

Abyss, AJ Styles, Alex Shelly, Austin Aeries, Bobby Roode, Bully Ray, Chris Sabin, Chris Daniels, D'Angelo Dinero, Devon, Doug Williams, Eric Young, Gunner, Hernandez, James Storm, Kazarian, Kid Kash, Kurt Angle, Matt Morgan, Rob Terry, RVD, Robbie E, Samoa Joe, Shannon Moore, Sting or Zema Ion.

So basically every active male in TNA not named Crimson or Mr Anderson (you know, the interesting characters) would be disqualified from entering the fed. Just a little something to think about.

Mr. Anderson is interesting? Since when? Last time I checked he was a poor man's CM Punk.

What's interesting is I had Kurtesy's Snapmare Driver (Prescription Sedated) in my move list at one point before he used it as a finisher. Now he uses the straight jacket strangle for a submission, which I had already, and now I will likely switch it out with something else after KC.

So in other words, Falkon quit stealing my moves. Bastard.

Almost forgot, my original finisher the Ouija Flame was an Argentine DDT, far too similar to the F5 so I removed that and went with the Bicycle Kick which was part of my standard moveset.

I have a character in mind for when I come back. I fully intend to ignore parts of the ban list. Bad practice, I know. But fuck it, a logically consistent moveset means more to me than meeting any "thou shall not imitate moves" quota. Sorry in advance.
