What do you feel has been the best DVD release of the year? This thread relates only to DVDs that came out in 2007. You might have purchased The Rise And Fall Of ECW this year, but it was released several years ago. Therefore it is not eligable.

For me it's between two choices. The Ladder match or the Rey Mysterio one. Both are excellent, as usuall. WWE DVDs are brilliant. But the Mysterio one has the edge. You can't beat the first and second disc of his set. There are some classics. The likes of Dean Malenko and Ultimo Dragon will never get a best of DVD set so this is the closest they will ever get. It's only let down by the third disc. Which is still good. But it shows how much Mysterio has slowed down, and their is to much Chavo Guerrer in my opinion.

The problem I have with the Ladder match is that none of the matches on the third disc are great. And after 15 or so Ladder matches you get a bit sick of them.

With both the Mysterio and Ladder match DVD's, the first two disc are solid. You get into the third discs however, and you simply see how bad and slow the product has become.

The Ladder DVD has some true gems on it, worth watching, especially the WCW ladder match with 3 Count, but a ladder match is a ladder match, and 9 hours of the same thing tends to be overkill.

I went with Mysterio. The first two discs are superb. By the third disc however, it's Guerrero this and Guerrero that. They put Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio vs. the Bashams, but no Edge/Mysterio vs. Angle/Benoit, that could have been match of the year. The Guerrero ****ing is getting tiring and just stupid at this point.

Very disapointed with the HBK dvd. The matches were terrible in my opinion, and the completely biased views on it are just sickening. I was expecting something to be proud of with that DVD, but the smark in me doesn't by the horseshit the WWE is trying to feed me.

The HBK disc isn't out here yet. But they released From The Vaut 5 years ago. That had all of HBK absolute classics on it. I'll get the DVD. But considering it's mostly documentary I'm sure I wont be impressed. I couldn't give a shit about wrestlers personal lives. And Imagine it's heavy on religion. But the matches I'm sure will be fine.

The matches really aren't that good. You get blessed with the entire 1995 Royal Rumble, you should feel great for that one. It becomes religious heavy towards the end, but it's a documentary on him, so I don't mind.

It's stupid statements like, Bret asked to leave to go to WCW, we had no control over what Bret was doing. Bret refused to do business. Vince McMahon's best match was against Shawn Michaels (bullshit), Jericho hadn't had a good match in the WWE until Wrestlemania XIX (uber Bullshit). It became an HBK ass kissing fest. Just imagine Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior, but all positive.

Damn I hate positive. I'm all for the negative energy.

As for worst DVD their is only one choice. The New And Improved D-X. Thye release a DVD on them. But they don't on Sting, Harley Race, Randy Savage, The Von Erichs etc. It's bullshit. That DVD was 9 hours long. I watched it in one. There was only on NEW D-X promo that was intresting and that was the McMahon piss take. The rest were crap, same with there matches.

I haven't seen any of those DVDs yet, but will be getting a few soon, hopefully before the poll closes. I'll reserve judgement until then, but I'm pretty hyped for Christian Cage's DVD. Don't care what anyone says.

As a big DX fan, I bought this looking to be extremely impressed. All I can say is I didn't even get to the end of watching it. I got so bored that I had to switch off and do something else. It's not even that what they do is boring, it's the fact it was pretty much everything I've seen before.
As you say, there are so many better ideas for a DVD than this one, which we've seen before. I think this is a perfect example of the WWE just wanting to make money as it's sole purpose now. Most wrestling fans, especially younger kids, would have bought this. But how many would have bought one on Sting or Randy Savage? No where near as many, even though both these guys deserve their own DVD.

Can I change my vote? The fact that other HBK DVDs have recently been released does hurt what probably should have been on it; at least which matches should have been. As far as being biased goes, all of the DVDs are. They are from that perspective. I still get goose bumps everytime I watch Jeff Hardy vs. Taker in a Ladder match with JR screaming "Climb your ass off kid. Make yourself famous." And when I finally gave Edge vs. Cena in a TLC a chance, I was impressed; much better than what I thought it would be.

my personal favorite of this year was probably the spectacular legacy of the AWA (I believe it was this year) it was very good and very informative about Verne Gagne and the history of the promotion and his wrestling school. Verne Gagne was a very old time promoter and thats what screwed him over. what brought him down was that assfuck WWWF reject Hulk Hogan who Verne found talent in and gave him his first big break just to be screwed over by him.

overall a quality purchase good history lesson and a few good matches on it

I have to admite althoughI am not a huge Cena fan his DVD was nicely put together and I would have included it on this list. The ladder match DVD unfortuantaly I have not got round to buying yet, so I am going with the Instant Classic Christian cage, the interview with him, and the footage of him and Edge is great stuff.
