I'm just thinking how Stephanie would think in order to sound better than Shane.
When intelligent life from another planet invades Earth, I'd like to think that we could settle it by putting John Cena in a 2 out of 3 falls match. I know he's on Smackdown and all, but I think a Universal Champion vs. Galactic Champion match would probably be better promoted on RAW.

If I were given the naming responsibility for the now split world titles my goal would have been to make each title seem on part with the other. To that effect I would have called the titles the Raw and Smackdown World Heavyweight Title and I would have each title maintain the same design as the current Title Ambrose has. The only difference between the title would be a red background for behind the WWE logo for the Raw title like on the Women's Title and one of the two removable plates would have the Raw logo while the other has the wrestler specific plate. Then the Smackdown title would have a blue background and the Smackdown logo on one of the plates.
This way each title looks and feels like the WWE World Heavyweight Title, while the differences in the belts distinguish them from one another while making each title seem as important as the other.
What we will end up with are titles with different looks and different names and the fact that Ambrose and Smackdown will be walking around with what was the WWE World Title will always trump the other title.

I think for their purposes it's better than WHC. Calling a title the WHC is a little awkward when you are also trying to advance another equivalent world title.
I really do not understand why people are complaining about this name. It's a name. They didn't call the Belty McBeltface Championship. It's totally fine.

You can still use the "for the fans" angle, but Universal makes it sound like a less important mid card belt. New belt with the WHC lineage ties would have been just fine. This is just a new name that can be repeated until we are numb either way I guess.

Only on the first page, but my first impression is (and i suspect many others) is that "Universal" trumps "WWE World Heavyweight". That's why i don't like it. Not calling for a recall of big gold, but it's rather unimaginative and indicative that Mr "not pro wrestling but sports entertainment fan universe bollocks" McMahon is still pulling the strings.
Why not simply "Fuck you SD, you drafted the WWE Champ, here is the New RAW Championship."

I'm disappointed that they have decided to create another belt. I would've wanted them to either allow the world champ to appear and be challenged on both brands, or simply elevate the IC title to main event Raw.

The name sucks. Universal means it's the overall, premier belt. Universe is bigger than World so it immediately makes it look like WWE have picked their top belt out of the top 'world' titles.
