Well if it is the NEXT US champion, without some fatal four way or something, Santino would only lose to a heel. SO that knocks off half of the contenders right there.

That Leaves:
Sandow
Rhodes
McIntyre
Cesaro
Bryan

Rhodes & Bryan are WAY past the US title and any "fan" of theirs should consider it an insult if such a thing happened.

McIntyre is good & I really like him. That being said, he will be fired within the next year or so.

That leaves Cesaro & Sandow. Both young & new to the main roster. I think Sandow has a MUCH more solid gimmick & character. Not to mention is an all around better performer IMO.

Why did no one mention Tensai?! Yeah okay I get it, everyone thinks he is awful. But he is a mean, big, ugly heel, EVERYONE IS SUPPOSED TO HATE HIM! I think feud-wise and expierience, this would make the most sense to WWE.

But since WWE doesn't like to always make sense. SANDOW! He & Santino could have good matches and a pretty decent feud.

DAMIEN SANDOW 4 UNITED STATES CHAMPION!!!!!!

Well, for starters it should be an AMERICAN!!! No point in defending a country that you're not even from. In fact on that front, I think that's how it should be, have the U.S Title for midcarders who are from America, and have the Intercontinental Title be defended by those who aren't.

Now don't say there isn't enough foreign talent in WWE to make it worthy:

Del Rio, Sin Cara, Barrett, Gabriel, McIntyre, Santino (I know he's actually from Canada, but his character is Italian), Sheamus, Antonio Cesaro, Jericho, Yoshi Tatsu. I'm sure there are others, but my mind is drawing a blank right now

I think Cesaro is gonna be the guy to take it from Santino. He'll build himself up as a good heel champ and he'll be the place holder for the belt until Ryback is ready.

I seen someone on here say Cesaro should make it the European title for a short while, I think that would be cool, also it would be a good way to turn Swagger face. These two could have a good feud for a while and it could really help both guys. With that said, I still think Cesaro would just be a place holder until Ryback gets it, unless Ryback goes straight to the world title.

Who i want and who i think to be the next US Champ are not one in the same :(

Damien Sandow i do believe will take the the championship run on next and try to bring its integrity back with his strong high brow approach...which we are seeing regularly on WWE TV each week

While my heart says Drew i don't see this happening any time soon :(

Sandow or Kidd are my choices. Sandow could easily be put into a feud with Santino. It is the perfect fit and could establish Sandow as not another Hunico or Tensai. It would be a really good angle IMO.

Tyson Kidd is a great wrestler period. I would love to see him with the belt. He could actually make it important again and bring back the prestige. I don't really see a feud between him and Santino though, because right now it looks lik he is a baby face. Overall, I think they would both be the best choices.

Also: Drew Mcyintre is someone else I'd like to see, but I dont see it happening. Antonio Cesaro is a pretty good choice, but he needs to be on TV more for that to happen.

Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that The Miz won the Intercontinental Title at Raw 1000, but I think the title that should've been defended was the United States Title. Do I think Miz should have won it? Well, yes. Infact I have a list.

The Miz: He's proven that he is a hard worker and a company guy. He's won every title other then the World Heavyweight Title, and he's Awesome! Glad he's IC champ but if he won the US Title instead, I wouldn't have been mad.

Antonia Cesaro: Although I'm not really a huge fan of him, I think the US title could be a good fit for him and considering that he just beat Santino, he looks to be next in line.

Cody Rhodes: I like the fact that The Miz is currently IC champion. But Cody Rhodes should never have lost the IC title in the first place. If he's not going to be put into a fued for the WHC, then he should definately go after the US title.

Damien Sandow: Again, he's got a good look for someone who could hold the title and he could also use it for his gimmick in the sense that the title used to represent a "less educated America" and that he is representing a new one.

Heath Slater: Either this program with the Legends is just a way to put over legends or its a way to get Heath Slater into a title picture of some sort. Have him win the title from Santino after saying he's done playing games with "has been".

Ryback: He would be awesome for the title but maybe not yet. Giving him the title now means that he would eventually have to lose it and if they're going with this undefeated streak, he needs to hold no titles for a while.

Sin Cara: He could hold the title and actually defend it on a semi-regular basis while putting on interesting matches.

Ted Dibiase: His new gimmick of being a country boy tail gate party guy would fit the US title perfectly. It's also a good way to get back into the upper mid card/main event.

Sandow would be great right now just for the fact that he could say how a refined man like him was able to take the belt off a goof like Santino when other wwe superstars, lesser men than him, couldn't get it done. the arrogance factor alone would be worth seeing him get a title run as long as it was a decent one. worse thing they could do is let him win it, have it for a month and then lose it back to Santino or someone like that.

I really do hate how Santino's the US Champion. Him becoming champion was part of the Teddy Long/John Laurinaitis storyline, and once that was over he should have dropped the title ASAP. He's good at what he's being paid to do,but really, him as a champion, especially one as prestigious as the US Championship,is a total joke.

I've not seen Antonio Cesaro yet (I rarely watch SmackDown),but I think Damien Sandow and Ryback should be the next guys to hold the US title. I think Sandow's stock is about to rise, and if he's going to be a big heel, what better way to get over than for him to beat down and bully the crowd favourite Santino and take the US title? Then to push Ryback to the next level after everyone gets bored of him squashing jobbers, why not put him in a program for the US title with Damien Sandow? I'm sure that would be more exciting than Sandow doing nothing and Ryback squashing jobbers and Santino fluking his way to another win.

ANYONE BUT SANTINO!!!!

I'd even take Hornswoggle as United States Champion. Giving Santino a title reign as a thank you for all he has done is one thing, but enough is enough. I don't care how much of a reaction he gets out of fans. The man is a JOKE! He cannot be taken seriously as a champion, thus he needs to lose the belt immediately. There are some good options within the poll, unfortunately most of them are any that I doubt will receive the title anytime soon.

I'll go over each of them one by one. Sandow sure has a lot of votes so far. He's still too new, but titles are surely in his future if he keeps up the good work. Ryback is also too new, as a character anyway. I can see him winning one of the midcard titles on the way toward the top via his undefeated streak angle. Brodus would be a comedy act as champion, but at least he can be taken more seriously than Santino, Brodus does have a serious side which we saw during his time as Alberto's underling and his recent short feud with Big Show. Sin Cara would be a good choice, he doesn't do promos but he's popular and has fun matches that excite the crowd, which a midcard champion needs to be able to do.

Tyson is another good option. The title would help him gain even more momentum and credibility if he's going to get a larger push. Gabriel could have been an option a year or so ago, that ship has sailed. He'd be better off reuniting with Slater to win the giant pennies again. As much as I like Drew, he's got no chance right now, he has GOT to regain his momentum before a title win would mean anything for him. Rhodes is above the US Championship, he just got out of the midcard title scene and needs to move on to bigger and better things. Bryan needs to stay in the world title scene forever at this point, so not him. Cesaro is still too new. Decent poll options, but like I said, most are unlikely to happen. I ended up picking Sin Cara in the poll because I enjoy his matches and think he'd do a fine job of exciting the crowd even more than he already does if he began to open shows with midcard title defenses. Sandow is arguably the second best option, he'll be ready for a title reign soon.

OMG!@!!! drew mcintyre fo sure, seriously why on earth isn't he being pushed? his scottish accent isn't as strong anymore and he is easily one of the best in ring workers around, and omg he has the look of a champion.

I think that damien sandow will have a great push if he will win the united states title from santino {because if he will still have the U.S. title for more months he will be boring than ever}.

I say Heath Slater. I'm not necessarily in favor of him taking it off of Santino...unless they start having Santino successfully defending the belt several weeks in a row to build up the credibility of Santino as champ and the belt itself.

I was really impressed with Slater throughout the whole Legends gimmick. First, I would look forward to what legend would return each week on Raw...but after awhile, and I do not think that I'm the only one who though this, I was more looking forward to see how Slater would interact with said legend(s). He's good on the mic, he has a good look for his character...very Honky-esque, and not just because of the country music gimmick.

Aside from a pretty noticeable case of gyno...Heath Slater is an entertaining and bright star for the future of the midcard of WWE.

I think it SHOULD be either Cody Rhodes or Daniel Bryan. Daniel Bryan gives the WWE the best chance for sustained feuds and storylines with this belt. DB is in the spotlight right now with the AJ storyline and so giving him the US title would bring our attention back to the US belt. When you bury it on a guy with feuds or storylines, it becomes just that, buried.

Cody gives WWE a great opportunity for some solid feuds with the younger guys. Cody, in my mind, is a "legitimate" midcarder since he's had the IC belt some relevant feuds.

I think they will end up giving it to Ryback though.

Please though, no Brodus Clay. Going from one comedy jobber to another would basically be the nail in the coffin for the US title.

I'm going with Tyson Kidd. But I also don’t mind Santino having it now. I think it’s no worse than when HTM had the int. belt. You have to realize people just don’t like his character all the time. But he can really wrestle; he wasn’t bad before this comedy gimmick thing happened.
Tyson Kidd though is a great wrestler. I think he is better than the others in the list and can go over better and he doesn’t have a true character or gimmick yet to get in the way. My next pick would be Dolph but I just don’t like his character or Vicki as his manager.

I think Jinder Mahal would make a great US Champ. He would have tons of heat, not to mention the fact that he has tremendous ability. Him beating Santino would be believable, as he could outwrestle Marella on any given night. I've always seen something in Jinder Mahal, and I think he's waited long enough for a push.

Like most people here, i vote for Damien Sandow, in my opinion he definitly has the potential to be the heel that the WWE needs, i'm not saying that it will be tomorrow, but give him time and he will be a top draw heel, and winning the US title can be a great start, he can have the belt for months and bring the prestige back to the title, another choice in my opinion can be Antonio Cesaro, i like the idea someone else said about turning the US title into the European Title while he holds it, then of course, Wade Barret is another great future Top Draw Heel, and he already held the IC title, he can go for the US title when he returns, there are so many choices and can be goog US champs, we'll see what happens, but like i said, my top choise right now is Damien Sandow.......

I voted for Antonio Cesaro, but I would be happy if it was anybody other than Santino. I don't care who. Sandow, Ryback, Ryder, Scotty 2 Hotty would all be much better choices than Santino.

oh..COME ON!. IF WWE WANTS THE US TITLE TO BE VALUABLE AGAIN, THE THEY SHOULD GIVE THAT TITLE TO THE BIG RED MONSTER KANE AND MAKE HIM DESTROY ANYONE THAT WANTS TO CHALLENGE HIM FOR THE TITLE.THEY CAN EVEN MAKE EVERY MATCH A NO DQ MATCH.

AND ALL IN ALL IF WWE DO THIS, THE US TITLE DEFENSE WILL BE BETTER THAN THE WHC BELT. KANE IN A NO DQ MATCH EVERY WEEK IS MUCH MORE BETTER THAN ANY SHEAMUS MATCH.

I would have three people who come close to becoming the new U.S. Champion. Justin Gabriel, Tyson Kidd, or Sin Cara. I pick these three because they are the most exciting high flyers WWE has at this given point. To be honest, i wouldn't mind some triple threat matches featuring these three for the U.S. title. That could bring some pretige to the U.S Title. PLEASE TAKE IT OFF OF SANTINO AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

There are plenty of great options to choose from, but the one thing they all need is to constantly defend the title and brag about it in some sort of heel fashion. Even for a less obvious choice like Brodus Clay, he can be pushed up the card similar to Umaga or — more so — Rikishi have.

Personally I'm a massive fan of Drew McIntyre. But unfortunately he has absolutely no steam for the past 1.5 years since he and Cody Rhodes jobbed their tag titles to the Nexus Cena and Otunga (and the latter losing the titles to two other stable members which is stupid). It is difficult to suddenly build him up for the US title, but hopefully WWE will invest some time on him, so he can regain his reputation as the sinister Chosen One, given that RAW is now running for 3 hours each week. In the long run, I definitely see Drew being a mid-card champion.

For the near future, I'm going for either Damien Sandow, Tyson Kidd, or Antonio Cesaro. As mentioned Cesaro has just picked up a clean victory against the current US champion Santino Marella and we can expect anything to happen in the near future i.e. a push for the championship. The downside though is his lack of credibility as he really didn't have a lot of good matches (well I mean in WWE, Castagnoli is one of the best big guys in wrestling currently). If they are pushing Cesaro for the US championship, I believe they should push him more as a heel and further build his character as a brutal former rugby player, something like that. He has the package, but it's the credibility factor that matters now.

I really like Damien Sandow's character (Thank you for your irrelevant opinion). His character can make good feuds, but I think he's more like a guy that is suitable as a small stable leader (like SES), and I've never seen leaders of these stables hunt for a mid-card champion. I think WWE should give him a few good feuds, give him a stable with another few feuds with mid-upper card people, then put him in the main event picture. He certainly has that potential and I'm looking forward to that.

Tyson Kidd is one of mah FAVE FIVE to be honest. I'm not a massive massive fan of extremely technical wrestlers, but Tyson is definitely one of the best in this, in the WWE. A very big problem with Tyson is his horrendous voice and mic skills. But other than that, I think that his looks and his skills in the ring definitely support him as a good wrestler and potential champion. I was really looking forward to WWE's plan for Tyson when he defeated A-Train (yes I hate the name Tensai) to qualify for the MITB, but then it seems that everything has stalled - he didn't even get a feud with Tensai, and I'm sure if that happened Tyson can cement himself a spot in the mid-card. Don't have him speak much, push him as a credible heel wrestler, possibly give him a good manager to do the talking stuff.

We'll see.

**Edit: I'll take my word back about the missing Tensai-Kidd feud, they just had a match on RAW where Kidd won by reversed decision.**

United States Champ should have been Jack Swagger (yes, I know he won it already) but it should have been him again when he went up against Santino for the title many weeks back on Raw.

The problem with Swagger's last reign and Santino's current reign is that the title has no meaning because there is no feuds for it and it is rarely defended.

Swagger should win the title over Santino and The All American American American can make the title important again. It can be his jump start back into relevance. He can come out and talk about being the greatest US champion in history which SHOULD prompt a face to come out and challenge him for it. It could be someone like Tyson Kidd. They could go on to have an actually FEUD and match at an upcoming PPV. It would be good because both guys can wrestle.

Swagger would retain (but in a hard fought battle) with Kidd... maybe some controversy would happen for Swagger to retain so that Kidd would then demand another shot but this time more Superstars would claim to want the title and we could have a Championship Scramble or at least a Fatal 4 Way or Triple Threat match for the title.

Remember a few years back when there WERE matches like that for the US title and guys like MVP, Shelton Benjamin and Kofi Kingston held them and defended them? That made the title seem important because there were feuds for the title and actual title defenses!

I think Swagger should hold the US title for a few months... defending it against Zack Ryder and Christian to get more credibility... but then Ryback could come in and challenge for it but in a match where Swagger actually puts up a fight! Ryback would then win for his first WWE title.

Ryback would then hold it for a few months then there should be an angle where he is stripped of the title by a person of power to create controversy which would keep his winning streak but allow him to go on to challenge for another title.

Drew McIntyre or Tyson Kidd, I think, should be the United States champion. Cody Rhodes is an upper mid carder, just shy of main eventer, same as Daniel Bryan. Neither should be pushed down to US title. Antonio Cesaro and Damien Sandow are way too new to be a champion right now. As others have said, McIntyre is awfully underused and underpushed. He's very talented, he can talk, and he deserves another push. As with many talents (like Jack Swagger) Drew was initially pushed to the moon and down the fans' throats. Given a proper push, McIntyre will be great. Tyson Kidd is the exact same. Underused, under pushed, and very talented. He beat Tensai a few weeks ago, which makes me think WWE's thinking of pushing him. Either way, given a proper push, both of these guys would make a great US champ.

I've mentioned this before, but I think Swagger would be perfect for a US title run right now.

The storyline between he and Santino could be really simple. Swagger can come out and cut a promo about how it's only fitting the the US title be around the waist of an All-American American, not some Italian reject.

After he wins the title he could have feuds with various foreigners trying to take the belt off of him.

My initial thought was either Damian Sandow or Tyson Kidd.

Sandow looks the real deal to me and I definitely see Championship Gold in his future, but he is still yet to work a match of any kind of length, which he would need to do in defences of the US title. WWE are pushing him hard, as the fact he was chosen to interat with DX at the start of RAW 1000 indcates. He just needs to show me that he can work a title-match length of match then its all good to go for me.

Tyson Kidd has alot of talent too, and looks set for a push of his own. I never expected this from Kidd, even though I know he is a very good wrestler. I always expected him to get released from WWE after the Hart Dynasty broke up, as WWE just seemed to have nothing for him, so i am very happy to see that Kidd is getting exposure now. I would love to see him as US Champion, I think he would do a great job with ti, vut it would be akward to win the title from Santino as they are both faces.
