WWE Talent In 2010: Overrated & Underrated

Overrated-Alberto Del Rio

I don't get it. I don't think he is that charasmatic. He is decent in the ring, but he personally bore me on the mix. I find him to be very meh.

Underrated-Zack Ryder

Woo. Woo. Woo. You Know It. This guy just oozes charisma, and I don't care what anybody says about it, has the ability to be a main event star someday. He understands how to work a crowd, he knows how to work a mic, has the in-ring skills, he stiks to his character/gimmick, and plays it so well. If WWE or Ryder himself doesn't screw it up, he has a bright future in this business.

UNDERRATED

Trent Barreta- I have said it before, and I will say it again; this kid should be a big deal some day. In the ring, he has speed, technical skills, and sells his ass off. He has a decent look, but could probably add 20 lbs. However, I have a strong feeling he may never get the opportunity to show what he can actually do.

Skip Sheffield- Yes, he was part of the biggest stable WWE has seen since Evolution. However, he wasn't really featured. He's agile, and he looks like a freakin' monster. He's like Batista, but more athletic and much younger at this point in his career. This is another guy who probably didn't get the change he deserved.

Alex Riley- This guy is the total package. His mic-skills are golden, and he has shown the ability to deliver charismatic promo's and such. He has good matches each time he's in the ring, no matter who he's jobbing to. I understand being the WWE Champion's sidekick isn't a bad gig, but what is Riley doing? I hope he gets involved in his own feud sooner as opposed to later. I think this guy has more potential than the Miz ever did.

OVERRATED

The Miz- I think every single thing about this guy is overrated. His mic skills, his character, his in-ring ability. Everything. I am still in shock about this guy being WWE champion. I think he's decent, meaning about average. I just do not see the appeal.

Sheamus- I must admit, I used to hate Sheamus. I used to think he was absolute garbage. But, he's grown on me a bit. Does that mean I don't think he's overrated? No. I haven't seen a wrestling performance from this guy to justify his place in the company. He has no character. He has an accent, and I'm sorry to say, that doesn't equal a character. I think this is the most boring main-eventer WWE has right now.

R-Truth- I am 99% sure he's injured right now, but he was on his way to a John Morrison-type push, IMO. And I cannot figure out why. I guess he must sell lots of t-shirts. When he speaks, I can understand about 1/4 of what he is saying. His mic skills are Matt Hardy-bad. Hell, he's worse than Matt Hardy. His rap songs annoy me, as does every other thing he does. He has no flow to his matches (a lot like Kofi). He's either being beaten down, or going 150 m.p.h. I just don't get what the WWE sees in this guy, I really don't.

Over rated....Daniel Bryan....Where is this Worlds greatest wrestler guy i hear so much about?? Since he came in WWE i havent been impressed the least with him..he does a couple jumps and drop kicks (standard) and then puts on the LaBell lock...

Under rated...Dolph Ziggler...With his mis work, awsome ring skills i can see him a future World Champion early in 2011

Overrated: Rey Mysterio. Yeah, this is the guy that got himself a world title reign because he wasn't happy about being unable to take time off to spend it with his family because he injured The Undertaker and needed to cover up for him.

Rey Mysterio is decent in the ring, we get that. But he's absolutely boring, and has been for a long time. But Id like to say that 2010 was really a bad year for Rey Mysterio, yet he continues to either pull strings, or have the fans cheering the hell out of him. Even when there's much better talent to cheer.

A honorable mention would have to go to Big Show. He's been dominating ever since he turned face. He managed to kick the ass of the entire Straight Edge Society and more or less bury both Jack Swagger and CM Punk on numerous occasions. Two talents that had a good amount of great things going on in WWE, yet Big Show managed to squash it. And he still does it, he still walks out there and squashes his opponents more or less. I don't even remember Big Show loosing at any point as a face in 2010, or being pinned in general for that sake.

Underrated: Dolph Ziggler is probably the best shot here. While he has been used pretty well in the past 6 months, or in general in 2010, he just hasn't quite had the kind of thing that allowed him to TRULY shine. The fact that he got to work and worked well with John Cena says a lot, sure, but they're still only feeding him Kofi Kingston and numerous tag team matches and such ever since he became champion. He hasn't had the time to truly shine on Smackdown because of the lack of mid-card faces for him to feud with. And while I really want to see him continue as champion, I just don't know how long he can continue to feud with the same people.

A honorable mention would be Chris Jericho. Chris Jericho has been absolutely golden this year, or the period of time he was featured. He got a world title reign, sure, but it wasn't something major. He got to win at Wrestlemania which is always great, but during the build-up he was more or less made to look like nothing next to Edge. And after that, he continued to look weak against numerous other people.

And sure I get it "But, but.. That's what Chris Jericho does? He's more or less enhancement talent to the main eventers and upper mid-carders" - Sure, but do we really have to watch him more or less job it out the entire year? We all know Chris can do wonders in WWE when he's allowed to. And he managed to work wonders this year, but not to the true extend of what he can perform like. He had a pretty good match with John Cena leading up to Summerslam, and I think he really needed to be able to work more matches with the big guys, rather than being defeated by Evan Bourne, who didn't end up being pushed whatsoever anyway, or John Morrison who didn't get pushed due to Jericho as much as due to Sheamus.

Nice post. Since this is a discussion board, I'll discuss a few things with you. Swagger doesnt seem to have anything going for him that would lead to be called overrated. He hasnt beaten anyone except Kaval (and barely beat him) in over 6 months. When people say he's underrated it doesnt mean we think he should be where the Miz is right now, just means that he shouldnt be booked to look as weak as he does. Why should Drew McIntyre at this point be much higher on the SD pecking order than Swagger?

I think I mentioned that Swagger was overrated by the fans. Just because he started using the ankle lock, smarks label him as the second coming of Kurt Angle. Well that is just total shit if you ask me. Sure Swagger has an amateur background but Kurt was a student of wrestling like few are. He had a great deal of knowledge about amateur, pro as well as greco roman wrestling. Swagger might be good at amateur stuff but he needs to go a long way as far as pro wrestling is concerned.

Also I guess Swagger is booked weakly because creative don't have anything for Swagger at the moment. Its not like Swagger did not get his chance. He was a World Champion a few months back. But he did not make the most of the opportunity presented to him and so he is stuck in the Smackdown midcard.

Overrated: John Morrison: For the simple fact that he's overrated by the IWC and he's supposed to be the next shawn michaels give me a break , he's a good athlete and a good worker but his character is absoulutely boring and starship pain is overrated

Underrated: Christian:Its An Injustice WHY this Guy Has Not Been A World Champion in WWE , He Has All The Talent In The World And Deserves A Huge Push , Needs A Fued With Edge

Overrated

Santino Marella: I don't see why so many people go nuts over Santino. I've seen a lot of praise about his mic skills. Sure, Santino can be witty and funny, but I don't think his mic skills are THAT good. Santino was growing me on for a little while, but he's managed to get on my nerves again. I can remember seeing a lot of threads in the past about how Santino should be pushed hard. Well, it's finally happened, but KozTino's title reign has been very underwhelming so far. They had a spark at first, but for me, all of the buzz surrounding these two has fizzled out pretty quickly.

Underrated

Dolph Ziggler: Ziggler has been having an outstanding reign as IC Champ. Ziggler can go in the ring, and he had a match of the year candidate with Daniel Bryan at Bragging Rights. Ziggler's mic skills are pretty solid, and pairing him with Vickie Guerrero has been a great move, because she can ALWAYS get a strong heel reaction from a live crowd.

Ezekiel Jackson: Big Zeeke has great physique, and he does have tons of intensity. Zeeke knows how to wrestle, and he can play the "scary big man" role pretty well, because let's face it, the guy does look intimidating. I hope Zeeke can get a nice push on Smackdown, because there was just no room for him on Raw.

Overrated: Santino Marella, I like his gimmick and well some of his segments are funny. But really I don't like his amtches and with him winning mostly on interruptions, I wonder how long his title reign could go.. His mic skills are okay, nothing spectaluar...

Underated: Evan Bourne and Yoshi Tatsu, I absolutely love these two guys, Yoshi could be great and he did some pretty great matches in ECW and even as far as winning a Battle Rolya but eventually didn't get credit for it.. They are both mostly used as Henry's tag team partner and will be victims to either Nexus or Raw Guys.. Yoshi has talent so does Bourne... They could really be a breakout star at the IC title or as a tag team
