WWE Survivor Series General Discussion & Aftermath

I'd really love to see one of the injured guys return and join either team before the PPV.
Ideally, had Ambrose been a part of the Authority storyline, then a Reigns return would have made sense, but since it is Cena, I could see perhaps, BNB returning to join the Authority with a view to eventually feuding with Ziggler.

I expect Orton's eventual Face turn to end up being the Main story coming out of the PPV.
Whilst if built correctly, Ryback's Feed Me More overness will surely help cushion the blow of a largely lack lustre Main Event scene at the current time... though I can't pick between Sheamus and Ryback to be Rusev's next opponent whilst the other probably joins Team Cena.

For his sake, I hope Ryback isn't part of either scenario. What derailed him the first time was putting him in a must-lose scenario (vs Punk, followed by countless terrible booking decisions), and I feel he's back in that spot in either match. I don't think he's the right guy to beat Rusev, nor do I feel he should be part of a generic USA vs Russia storyline. Meanwhile, being in a Survivor Series match up suggests he would end up as inevitable fodder to someone on the heel team. Perhaps he could be disqualified out of the match. Either way, Ryback is no longer over for his "invulnerability". That ship has sailed, but that's no reason to repeat the same mistakes.

I really want to see Rusev win the US title and instead of the same old, same old of having him gain momentum only to be fed to Cena, have him take on Sheamus at SSeries, win the US title and hold it 'til Mania and face Ryback for it then.

Obviously Cena v Brock is not going to happen at Survivor Series and the likely candidate for that match will be The Rumble. We also know that the main event of Survivor Series will be Team Cena vs Team Authority. Here's my best guess as to what the teams will look like:

Team Authority:

Seth Rollins: Pretty obvious
Kane: Same as Rollins
Bray Wyatt/Luke Harper/Eric Rowan: Perfect way to round out the team. Also connects to Ambrose who I will be having on Team Cena.

Team Cena:

John Cena: Obvious
Dolph Ziggler: Obvious
Dean Ambrose: Has ties to Rollins and now Bray. Seems like a good candidate.
Randy Orton: With his turn on The Authority he would fit on this team.
Ryback: Good way to capitalize on his return and the cheers he is getting. Can set up a nice program with him and Harper and Rowan down the road.

Survivor Series Card Prediction:

Survivor Series Match Main Event:
Team Cena (John Cena/Dean Ambrose/Randy Orton/Dolph Ziggler/Ryback)
vs
Team Authority (Seth Rollins/Kane/Bray Wyatt/Luke Harper/Eric Rowan)

US Title Match: Sheamus (c) vs Rusev

Divas Title Match: AJ (c) vs Nikki Bella (w/Brie)

Tag Team Survivor Series Match:
Team Dust: Goldust&Stardust/Miz&Mizdow
vs
Team Usos: The Usos/Los Matadores

Survivor Series Match:
Team Big Show: Big Show/Adam Rose/Jack Swagger/Zack Ryder
vs
Team Henry: Mark Henry/Bo Dallas/Cesaro/Heath Slater

I thought Reigns might be a suprise member of team Cena but i'm unsure. I feel like the final situation will be Orton & Rollins vs Cena & Reigns if he returns (Ambrose'll either be taken out by Bray or DQ'd trying to get his hands on Rollins). Orton is going to get eliminated with Rollins somehow causing it and at that point he turns on Rollins.

Any chance Noble or Mercury are officially in the match? If they are I'd guess/like to see (assuming reigns is fit)

The Authority
Rollins
Kane
Orton
Noble
Mercury

Team Cena
Cena
Ambrose
Ziggler(Has no rival on the other side though)
???
Reigns

team cena vs authority is main event at survivor series. roman and bryan is not ready for return. Ziggler is confirmed. Ambrose is deal with wyatt. Sheamus is ready to fight with rusev. Big show vs henry is ready to fued.
Usos and ryback is my choice for team cena. Rollins, kane, randy, barrette or cesaro, may be the miz bcoz of their short fued with usos.
So my card is
sheamus vs rusev
dust vs los matedores
show vs henry
wyatt vs ambrose
aj vs paige
team nikki and who ever is heel vs team brie and who ever is face
cena, ziggler, usos, ryback vs rollins, randy, kane, wade or cesaro, miz.

Not too excited about this PPV. With no title on the line yet again and Cena being the focus, it seems it's set up to disappoint. If Reigns comes back, it would help but not much.

GADZOOKS! You get what you pay for, and in this case you get a PPV that didn't cost a damn thing to people who chose not to get the network. When Cena comes back from getting hit with a meteor and Bray's inverted crab walk spooks his opponent for the fiftieth time, they will have no right to complain.

Survivor Series is a premier event! You lucky gypsies get to watch it for free, which is awesome! I'm sure it won't turn out like the XFL, which tanked just after Vince had the brilliant notion of offering free advertising.

I can hear Eric Bischoff running down the results pre-show in my head. " Rusev wins again, saw that a mile away. The Runnels keep the belts. Nikki is still on total divas, so no belt for her. Dolph hams up another win. Cena is Cena, therefore he wins because chain gang and Wiz Khalifa." he would say.

I'm pessimistic mainly because Vince horribly devalued the product by trying to bump up his subscriber count. Wake me up when Daniel Bryan comes back.

Main event: team cena- cena ziggler chris Jericho sheamus rey mysterio(go on wrestlinginc's website) or ryback
Team authority- hhh Rollins Kane ascension

Dean Ambrose vs bray wyatt

Divas title: aj lee vs nikki Bella

Tag team title elimination match: usos vs dust brothers

Mark Henry vs big show

Us title: sheamus vs rusev

Paige vs Alisha fox

Elimination match: jack swagger Darren young Los matadors
Vs cesaro the miz mizdow luke harper Eric rowan

I'm surprised Brock isn't defending his title at Survivor Series since it's the weakest big four pay per view in recent years.

However, I'm glad they got a Survivor Series match as the main event of Survivor Series. I'm hoping there's atleast 3 Survivor Series matches on the PPV card

Survivor Series Card Prediction:

Most people would agree that the build to this year's Survivor Series has been the best in recent memory. However WWE's roster is missing most of its main eventers; Daniel Bryan & Roman Reigns are injured, Randy Orton's filming a move and the current reigning defending WWE Heavyweight Champion of the World Brrrock Lesnarrr (sorry I had to!) is MIA. While I expect Orton to return and round off Team Cena, this doesn't solve the problem of having mid carders in the main event. I have no problem with this, in fact I think it's a good decision given the current landscape. The problem is that Survivor Series is more than one match.

With both the Intercontinental and United States Champions already in the main event, we can pretty much guarantee that those championships won't be defended. Currently the only other matches scheduled are Bray Wyatt vs. Dean Ambrose and Nikki Bella vs. AJ Lee for the Divas Championship. I would imagine a match for the Tag Titles to take place but that still only makes 4 matches.

What about the rest of the card? Realistically, what other matches can WWE put on that the fans will actually want to see. With the limited roster, will we have to watch a 20 minute Team Rose vs. Team Bunny match or a Team of Divas vs. Another Team of Divas? While the main event matches may have had a good build, a dead crowd that has had to sit through three hours of mediocre matches will destroy the atmosphere, devaluing the main event. How do you think they are going to get around this problem?

I hate to say it but I don't think they will. The PPV's are usually only one or two good matches anyway, with the odd surprise match that turned out better than you thought. Thing is, they're giving away Survivor Series for free, so you get what you pay for. Besides, if you have the network, or in Canada's case, the netpak, it doesn't really matter whether or not we watch the PPV because we've already most likely paid for the month (or got it for free, whichever one). It's pretty much common knowledge that you're wasting your money if you order it on PPV, and they already have the money of the people that bought the tickets for the show. That's really the sad part. They feel as if they don't really have to try anymore, considering most people in their right mind would just either skip it, stream it off the internet, or buy the network.

Geez i just realized that both the mid card title holders are involved in the mian event. Although with the way things have gone, that could change.

Because of this we'll probably get at least one more Diva's match, I'm thinking Paige against whoever, and maybe a NXT match of sorts. Unless we get a surprise return from an injured wrestler, or Lesnar shows up, looks gloomy for this PPV.

Reigns won't return till December at the earliest, Bryan is a huge question mark, so the only one with a possibility is Bad News Barrett. Wouldn't mind seeing him back.

I have to say that the line up for this years Survivor Series is looking pretty poor at the moment. sure there are a lot of injuries at the moment, But WWE have decided to put most of the top draws all in one match which seems a little silly to me, But as long as WWE promote the rest of card well then I am sure we will get a half decent PPV.

MY PRIDICTIONS.

TEAM CENA VS TEAM AUTHORITY

Cena / Ziggler / big show / Sheamus / Jericho VS Rollins /Kane / Rusev / Henry / Harper.

Dean Ambrose VS Bray Wyatt

HHH VS Ryback

DIVAS TITLE MATCH

AJ Lee VS Nikki Bella /w Brie Bella

TAG TEAM TITLE ELIMINATION MATCH

Goldust and Stardust VS los Matadores VS Miz and Mizdow VS Big E and Kofi /w Woods

DIVAS SURVIVOR SERIES MATCH

Paige / Natalia / Cameron / Emma VS Alicia Fox / Naomi / Eva Marie / Rosa

TEAM ROSE VS TEAM BUNNY

Adam Rose / Eric Rowan / Heath Slater / Titus VS Bunny / The Uso's / R truth

Triple H vs Ryback needs to happen after the staredown that ended Smackdown last night. This card is lacking a lot, which is to be expected when almost all of your main eventers are in the elimination match. Here's how I'd book it.

1. Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt

2. Ryback vs. Triple H (if Triple H wins, Ryback must join Team Authority)

3. Traditional Elimination Match: John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, Big Show, Sheamus, and Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins, Kane, Mark Henry, Rusev, and Ryback

With this taking place in St. Louis, they'd be making a huge mistake if they didn't throw Orton into this match to get him completely over as a face again.

4. Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Championship Elimination Match: Dust Brothers (c) vs. The Usos vs. The Miz & Damien Mizdow vs. Los Matadores

I believe this is the best time for The Ascension to debut. Have them take out every tag team on the roster at one time.

5. Cesaro vs. Tyson Kidd

This could be for the IC Title, but I doubt it. I would have a rematch of the triple threat IC Title elimination match from Smackdown (which was amazing btw) and have Cesaro or Kidd win and defend against the other at the ppv. Ziggler can get his rematch against the winner and win it back, but I want to see more than just the tag team and divas titles defended.

6. Divas Championship: AJ Lee (c) vs. Nikki Bella

7. Divas Elimination Match: Naomi, Brie Bella, Natalya, Emma, and Alicia Fox vs. Paige, Cameron, Layla, Summer Rae, and Eva Marie

8. R-Truth vs. Luke Harper

Pre-Show Match: Adam Rose vs. The Bunny

Maybe they can put Kingston, Woods and Big E in a match, but I don't know if they're ready to debut them just yet. They just started running those "new day" vignettes a week or 2 ago. If they were to have a match, I'd make their opponents Slater, Titus, and Fandango.

So this amazing free ppv were gunna get what? Is it 3 matched that have been confirmed?

The build to this survivor series has been terrible. Far too much focus going on the main event, and when they could of used this platform to push more talent they went and pretty much stuck all their top stars in the one match. Ambrose and wyatt the only exception. But that is one match.

They could have really given the lower card a push and built some decent rivalries(story lines) to give other guys a push. Give ziggler an ic title match. Sheamus a us title match.

But I suppose long term planning or more than two decent stories just doesn't happen these days it's seems. It also show how thin the talent pool is these days. We are a week away and only 3 matches confirmed.

Poor show......again.

I agree, sort of. Yes it always sucks when they wait until the final week to confirm most of the card and it would be nice if there were more title matches, but for the most part the booking was fine. Rollins is headlining his 2nd straight PPV and Rusev will be in his first main event, Bray and Ambrose are the main singles match of the night, all 4 men under the age of 30, so obviously they're still pushing their long term younger talent. Show/Henry and Sheamus/Rusev are midcard feuds that got put in there so we're not short on those, and someone posted a great idea about Ziggler working double duty that night to soften him up so we might still have a IC match yet.

Team Authority vs Team Cena

Dean Ambrose vs Bray Wyatt

Nikki vs AJ Divas Title

Triple threat tag team title match (Los Matadores vs Usos vs Dusts)

Some stacked IC title match where Ziggler barely retains

Another traditional SS match between the mid-cards: Team Miz vs Team Jericho
Miz, Mizdow, Cesaro, Kidd vs Jericho, Swagger, Kofi and possibly a returning Rey or Woods, Big E and Kofi's stable finally debuts(toss in another face of your choice)

Divas SS match for the final spot, team Natalya vs team Paige would do just fine for what it is

If Sunday's card is anything like this it'll easily a major upgrade over last year's SS. Granted the promotion could've been better but overall it's better to try to attract as many people as possible with your main stars so when they do come to see the rest of the show the mid-carders has a chance to impress them. Also the "you get what you pay for" saying is going through my mind and it wouldn't surprise me if WWE was less motivated to put in the extra work for a freebie, even if it had possible long term benefits.

Most PPV's are free anyway, considering a lot of people would rather just stream them off one site or another (as long as you have a decent anti-virus program).

I think a major problem for WWE is not giving away PPV's for free. It is the quality of their shows. Not only that; the lack of talent depth is not good. Cena has dominated WWE for 10 years. CM Punk has burn out and has left, Undertaker is due to retire soon surely, HBK, Ric Flair - long retired. Randy Orton off tv to film another movie no wrestling fans will buy. Paul heyman is off tv, Lesnar is rarely on TV, The Rock is in hollywood 99% of the time, ADR has quit, big show is past his best a decade ago. Kurt Angle won't come back full time and cannot work out a deal. HHH is in the authority and only wrestles sporadically. Daniel Bryan is injured. Roman Reigns is too, the other two members of the Shield were fueding with each other. Now one is feuding with Bray wyatt. Whoever wins will damage the other one and won't get over any more than they are already cos they are not yet true established stars (and good god almighty they could be). Dolph Ziggler has been start and stopped with his pushes so many times; its hard to care. Even more so with Ryback.

The WWE has failed to make any new stars, They are paying the price for that now.

They have been doing this for months. Only Summerslam had a good, long build but that was to be expected.

The main selling point of this PPV is the main-event. Ambrose/Wyatt is another big attraction but the tag takes a huge part of the roster. They are still trying to finalise the teams so they can't announce anything for the rest of the show. Maybe Ryback gets a match but that can't be confirmed until later.

They have done a good job of building toward the main-event. There is a nice mix of talent and an actual prize on the line. They can flesh out the rest of the card with the tag-titles; Cesaro and maybe Ryback too. That will be enough for a great PPV.

Sorry, I don't think they've done a good job building for this PPV at all.

The main event booking feels very rushed, very last minute. I know that's part of the point, but engage me a little more on Eric Rowan's purpose in the match. Are we just supposed to cheer for him now because he came out and stared at Luke Harper for a bit? Sell me a little more why Luke Harper has gone from being "set free" by Bray Wyatt, to suddenly becoming a team player for the Authority? What are his motives? The IC title? Respect? Main event status? Just a quick promo can plug a few holes, but we'll stare at a grumpy cat instead. Tell me why I'm supposed to care about seeing Kane and Mark Henry in another main event as heel jobbers? Tell me why it's ok for Cena to just stand there backstage watching Ziggler, Big Show and Sheamus get beaten up, but his team rush to his aid during the contract signing?

I'm still struggling to get into the Wyatt/Ambrose feud, and I was one of the people defending it hard on here after the Wyatt interference during the HIAC match. It's being treated like a mid-card feud, so that's all I can look at it as right now. Expected bigger and better things, but maybe it'll take a more prominent role on TV after Survivor Series. Doesn't mean I'm fully invested in it right now.

The Divas championship match has had a more thorough build-up than these two matches.

So this weekend we have one of the big four PPV's of the year. The others being, Summerslam, Mania, and Royal Rumble. And this year it's free on the WWE Network for new subscriptions, shilling done now.

After RAW last night Team Cena was finally revealed to go against Team Authority. We also found out that there would be an eight man Tag Team match, AJ Lee we know is fighting Nikki Bella, and we also have the snoozefest called the Ambrose/Wyatt feud. Oh and yes I forgot, the new and improved Fandango on the preshow against well they never told us, so it's a mystery wrestler.

Does anyone other than myself think that there should be more matches on this card? Most PPV's have anywhere between 7-8 matches to keep us entertained for 3 hours, and if this is all they have it ain't gonna happen this time around.

Now the main event 5-5 match should take awhile, so should the tag team clusterfuck, but even if they took an hour each you still have an hour to fill. I'm kidding they won't take an hour each, but you see the point.

Also there doesn't seem to be a partner for Cesaro, Orton, Paige and Sheamus. Four big names that should be involved. KB said it on the RAW Live Discussion thread last night that 18 of the big names where involved in two matches.

So where does this leave the rest of the card, not that there is much left really. Also with the WWE title out of the picture for the time being, you would have thought that the WWE would have taken this time to elevate the IC and US titles. But no they put those wrestlers into multi-man matches, why, cause they could I guess.

I just see this not playing out very well, and the only thing that will save it is some let's see well placed surprises. If Reigns, Bryan, Sting or someone else decides to show up, or Orton slithers in to cost the Authority the win, then I'm all for it. But the way the deck has been stacked so far, makes me think of a house of cards, where one gust of wind will bring the whole thing down. That's not good for business considering they need to get more people on board with the network, in order for it to stay afloat. I'm really worried that they might have sunk themselves with this PPV, and unless they can pull a monkey out of their asses, it's going to be a long night.

Unless I've missed one somewhere, there are only 5 matches announced for the Survivor Series card. Unless WWE is gonna make some matches to add at the show, which will most likely result in some pretty underwhelming matches to say the least, then I'm thinking a couple of these matches will be really long.

If the card stays as it currently is:

Team Cena vs. Team Authority: 40-45 minutes

Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt: 20-22 minutes

WWE Tag Team Championship fatal fourway: 15-18 minutes

WWE Divas Championship with AJ Lee vs. Nikki Bella: 10-12 minutes

Divas traditional Survivor Series match: 15-18 minutes
