"The wolf on the hill is not as hungry as the wolf climbing the hill." – Arnold Schwarzenegger in the documentary Pumping Iron

When new Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler steps into the ring to defend his title for the first time, he will be facing hungry ex-champion Kofi Kingston. Kingston will be out to regain the title Ziggler himself wrested from him recently on SmackDown. (PHOTOS)

But will Kingston’s hunger be enough?

Ever since Ziggler made his SmackDown debut in the spring of 2009, the young Superstar has been scratching and clawing for his chance to be in the limelight. Later that same year, Ziggler came very close against then-Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio in title matches at SummerSlam (PHOTOS) and Night of Champions (PHOTOS).

Now that Ziggler has finally achieved championship glory, he is surely not going down without a fight.

And Ziggler is not going into battle alone. In his corner, Ziggler has girlfriend and Official SmackDown Consultant Vickie Guerrero. In fact, it was Guerrero herself who played a pivotal role in Ziggler’s title win by causing a distraction in the match. Could she do the same at SummerSlam?

Both Kingston and Ziggler have proven they have the drive and in-ring abilities to shine. The question now is which hunger is more powerful? The hunger to get back on top, or to stay there?

Find out live at the 23rd annual SummerSlam Aug. 15 at 8/7 CT, only on pay-per-view.

So finally another match has been revealed. And a good one at that if you ask me, Dolph Ziggler goes one on one with Kofi Kingston at Summerslam for the coveted Intercontinental Championship.

Will we see Dolph Ziggler retain? Will we see Kofi Kingston regain the championship that was seemingly stolen from him? Will Vickie Guerrero be at ringside?

Well you tell me? This is the official thread for this match. Let's keep it all in here.

Dolph Ziggler to retain! He needs a good lengthy run with that title because he has proven over the entire year that he can put on an amazing match with anybody!! On Smackdown he had a very good match with Rey in my opinion and he is a guy I see holding a World title in the future!

I got dolph keepin the belt because he just won and he has not had a chance to show his talent as the champion he has had so many ic title shots over the past year with rey and kofi. So im hopeing wwe gives him a long title run so we can see how really good his in ring ability is and to see if he can cut a good heel promo.

Dolph is definitely retaining here he has only just got the belt after a year of trying there is no way he is losing here. I am glad to see that this match made it to the card 5 matches going into the event isn't good, 6 is atleast ok and we are all but guaranteed a good match here they have out on very good TV matches over the last month so imagine what they will be like on PPV.

I see Dolph retaining here, he has just won the IC title and I don't see him losing it, I think he will get the type of reign that Drew McIntyre got, a good run, and I hope we see him in good matches, he can sure wrestle this guy...

So yeh, I see Dolph retaining here..

I think Ziggler will retain the belt. I mean, the guy just won the belt and he's a pretty good in ring talent (He's come a pretty long way from the spirit squad;)). Plus, I think it's time for Kofi to get that main event push he deserves. The only reason he hasn't gotten it yet is because Randy Orton cries every time somebody messes up a move.

Well I hope Dolph keeps the title here. I think a good way to put alot of presteige into the belt is to have Dolph hold it for a good long time, and unlike The Miz, defend it very frequently, showing that he deserves to have it while he retains it every match. Hell have him go undefeated with the title for a few months, then it will become a big deal, and when someone does actually win it from him, it would be a big deal.

Yes..I agree with you here...He should have been the IC champion last Summer and instead hehas stayed calm and he has waited..I would like WWE to keep him the champion until WrestleMania..It could really build him up in a big way and could be his step closer to the main event scene as well... Kinda like back in the days, with someone especially a heel having long runs from SummerSlam to WrestleMania(I know Dolph won the title 2 weeks ago, but you know what I mean)...and when WrestleMania comes, he can lose it to a good face, in my head right now I would say Evan Bourne, move himto Smackdown in October and have him win the US title as WrestleMania...I know its very unlikely that WWE will give him that long run until WrestleMania seen as there are ppv's every month..but if I was on the creative team,I would go this way!!

Well of course he's gonna retain. They're gonna let him keep it so we can continue seeing the "please lie on your back for me" finisher. Not to mention this way we get to continue seeing the annoying Vickie Guerrero as she tries to aid a push to another star. Then eventually he will lose the belt and it will cause the split between him and the wildabeast which always goes 2 ways: she makes his life a living hell, which would turn Mr. Spirit Squad face. Or he chases her away and we get to hear her squealing. Either way, nothing new to see here.

On a few of the advertisements for Summerslam they announced a 6 Pack Challenge for the IC title then they announce this, weird. I have to say that Dolph will retain. He just won the title 2 weeks ago and it looks like WWE actually plans on building him up this time instead of dropping the ball on him like they did over the past year.

This should be a decent enough match. Both these guys are failry good in the ring and they've had some decent matches together in the past. It won't be complete shit, that's for sure. There won't be any drama though, given there's no way Ziggy is losing here since he just won the title.

Not sure why they just didn't keep the belt on Kofi until Summerslam, but whatever. Like I said, should be a fine little match, but nothing we'll be remembering in a few weeks time.

This is probably the best match on the card. I have to go for Dolph Ziggler not only because I am one of his biggest fans, but because he just won the IC title and should not lose it yet. Dolph Ziggler is a great wrestler and puts on great matches with anyone. I hope to see him have a lengthy title reign.

Yeah I think Dolph will retain as well. Should be a good match too and I'm happy they're putting an intercontinental championship match on one of their biggest pay per views.

I really think Dolph is a good person to hold that belt right now. He could have some really good mid card feuds and actually defend it, unlike Miz. Plus, I think it's time for Kofi to finally move on to the main event.

All in all I think we got a good match coming that will see Dolph getting his hand raised.

Ziggler needs to retain here, no ifs ands or buts about it. In fact he should be winning the championship here. Not sure why WWE insists on having the midcard titles change on free tv but I guess I shouldn't be complaining since that means I actually get to see the switch.

Ziggler has finally gotten his hands on single gold after a dozen failed attempts so don't expect him to let go so quickly. Then a quality midcard feud could do wonders for both these guys.

The Best's Best Possible Outcome:
Ziggler retains and continues to feud with Kingston over the IC title

Yeah I think Dolph wins and keeps on going... I believe this will be a long reign for him... He will have a run that has been longer than most in recent history. I think this is the push that most people have been expecting him to get for quite a while now!

im gonna have to disagree with everyone. i think kofi is gonna take back his i.c. tittle at summerslam. dolph winning is to predictable and wwe does not like that. i see vicki accidently causing dolph the match then dolph will break up with vickie then get his rematch at night of champions. dolph will get the belt back at noc then start his long tittle run

Dolph has to win this. There's no way WWE can take the title off of him so quickly. This should be a pretty solid match, and Vickie is sure to become involved at some point. Dolph should've won the IC title last year, because he was hot back then, so I'm really hoping WWE is going to let him have a nice little run with the title. I just wonder if WWE is going to keep "Kofi's dark side" going after this one is over. Kofi is showing lots of aggression, but I just hope all of this anger isn't leading to a heel turn.

This man deserves a good Title reign after just winning it 2 weeks ago. I can see this ending in a DQ after Kofi goes crazy on him again or Vickie interferes which would still lead to a possible beatdown. But I don't see ANYWAY that Dolph would lose The Title here. He needs a credible, long, and dominant one to solidify himself. The match should be good too.

Dolph Ziggler will retain via DQ or cheat and gain a pinfall. Ziggler has been working his tail off for a long time and has been chasing the Intercontinental Title for over a year. He feuded with John Morrison, Rey Mysterio, and Kofi Kingston in order to try and get the title. He has very impressive ring ability and he should enjoy the title run. Kofi on the other hand will move on to the main event scene, or stick around for a few months and try to win back the Intercontinental Title back from Ziggler.

I don't see Ziggler losing the title, so I am going for Ziggler retaining. But zman21 does have a point. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

No way Ziggler loses this, in fact, I'm surprised they didn't do the title change at the PPV. Should be a good match, probably nothing too different from the bunches of times we've seen them wrestle on SmackDown with Dolph winning, probably due to help from Vickie.

I expect Dolph to pick up the win here as well. I think this match will be pretty good, and first or second on the card.
The way Kofi has been having temper tantrums I could see him turning heel, it could help him take the step up to the next level.

How stupid was the end to this? They're Smackdown superstars! No reason what so ever in having Nexus interfere in this match. So fucking stupid. The match was going fine until the run in. I wanted Ziggler to retain but at least give them a decent match with a good finish. Nexus had no reason to interfere.

Decent match. Shame it had to end like that, But I guess it served a purpose in both keeping the belt on Dolph, as well as keeping both looking strong while Nexus looked strong as well.

However I think it would've been better had it ended with a clean ending, however I won't complain. I guess this will signal for a continuation of Dolph vs Kofi on Smackdown, in some kind of match at Night of Champions.
