WWE Studios Making "Bermuda" Found-Footage Horror Film

Well seeing as Punk bitched in the Summer about not being part of a WWE film, it could point to him but that would possibly mean he takes time off, So I don't know.

This might actually be good. Those found-footage movies rake in a lot of money at the box office. If it does feature any WWE Superstars, I'd figure they'd be in supporting roles, which would be the best way to go.

I'd be a little interested to read that, do you remember where you found that article? I could've sworn I remember reading about Punk rejecting a movie offer?

I gave WWE Studios a chance, but those movies really (and I mean in REALLY) suck. They do a fine job of discrediting the entire American film industry. Its really surprising that they haven't gone the way of XFL yet. Remember when they made that stupid movie with Kane? Next thing you know the guys running around Raw with some hook contraption in his hand. Grade A crap...

You know who I could easily see in this flick? A couple of divas. Its Bermuda for crying out loud, you practically have to have the bikini clad divas getting mysteriously slaughtered, that's how horror movies work nowadays.

Then Kelly Kelly can show up to Raw with Kane's hook thingy.

This could be pretty interesting.

If it's 'found footage' then there's the opportunity for a WWE superstar to play the investigator. There's also potential for perhaps a Diva to be one of the characters in the footage too. Hell, you could even have a 3rd Superstar be the killer. The risk with overloading a film with WWE faces is that it could restrict rather than enhance the film's appeal.

I'm definitely intrigued by this news though, but until more details come out about casting and the storyline I wont get too excited.

In a found Footage movie... you can put believable looking guys in something like that, Like Daniel Bryan, Cody Rhodes, Edge or Drew McIntyre, those guys you can place in a role somewhere in the movie and it could be believable. I can't wait to see what they do. Please no Cena, Triple H or Orton or Punk.

I dont know...Im kind of over the found footage movies. The only one that REALLY worked has been the Paranormal Activity series and, IMO, Cloverfield.

There has to be a really good story that is involved. I recently watched Apollo 18, and what a disaster that was. Good idea, wrong execution.

I think a horror film COULD work, but what is the story about. WWE has had bad luck and picking crappy stories. "The Marine" was an action cliche movie, "12 rounds" was basically "Die Hard 3", and "Marine 2" was just like the first one. The only one that was somewhat good was "See No Evil"...I haven't seen the other 2.

I personally dont want to see a big name WWE star in this though. They need to get away from putting their top stars in leading roles. Someone like...say Justin Gabriel in a supporting role would work, or even someone more established like Cody Rhodes. Lets say WWE did "Cloverfield". Someone like Cody would've worked well as one of the friends in the movie.

Just PLEASE dont make a WWE star the killer/villian. Get some established young stars from Hollywood in this and I think you can make it work. Just get a GOOD story.

Maybe surprise us by killing off said WWE star in the movie, like "Scream" shocked everyone by advertising Drew Barrymore on all the promotional stuff and then killing off her in the first 10 minutes.

I am sorry but after watching WWE's Inside Out with Triple H, I have no more faith left with "WWE Movies". Yes this is a completely different genre, but man alive was Inside Out absolutely crap.

A horror? Daniel Bryan looks like the type of nerdy murder victim in a typical horror. Plus, all WWE needs is Kelly Kelly or Eve to flash a bit of skin and they've sold out.

I love the WWE, horror movies, and the found footage format, but I just don't think this will work.

When the found footage films really work it allows the audience to get emotionally invested in the people on the screen. It's not johnny depp up there playing a scared guy in black and white, it's a scared guy in black and white. Typically they don't use over the top theatrics because the small and subtle things are more believable and build to add suspense. This all helps the audience to lower their guard and be more open to a scare.

If you know it's Daniel Bryan or HHH running around with the camcorder it's going to be so much harder to invest in the idea that it's an event and not a movie. That starts to unravel a lot of the things that make the genre successful.

Compare Blair Witch 2 to paranormal activity 1 or blair witch 1. The exorcism of emily rose vs the last exorcism.

I dont know how i feel about these "found footage" movies now days. I love the horror genre possibly more so than any genre aside from maybe comedy but sometimes they go too far in their attempts to scare people.

Take The Fourth Kind for example... It was one of those apparently "Based on actual events" movies only it was released in a time where anyone who wanted to know could just Google it and find out that all the "Based on True Events" selling point was just that and no one could find any proof of the actual events even happening.

If they do it like Blair Witch or even Quarantine where as it uses the footage but doesn't try too hard convincing people it is real it could go over well. If it goes the same path as The Fourth Kind trying to convince people that stuff in the movie is actually based on real stuff it will be another $5 dvd in the bin at Walmart in a few months after release.

I can't actually suspend my disbelief in the "found-film" genre if I actually recognize the characters in the movie. That's why I was into the Blair Witch Project so much when it first came out. I was young, and in that, "you never really know," stage of my life.

But I'm not going to sit here and watch CM Punk on a boat somewhere, and have the film tell me, "this footage was found out in the water out near the Bermuda Triangle".

^THIS. All "found footage" movies are supposed to be about "found footage" which almost always is discovered after everyone has either died or disappeared. That's why these films always use rarely known or first time actors. If it's going to be ANYONE who appears regularly on tv in front of millions of people every week it will ruin the genre. If you are going to use a WWE star, then just make a straight up horror film because it's going to be impossible to suspend disbelief and entertain the constant notion that this might have "really happened".

People have made the point of unknown actors being involved in this genre of movie to sell the reality of it. also i doubt any wwe superstar wants to be on a found footage movie because the actors tend to stay unknown after the movie. I mean has anybody out of Cloverfield, Paranormal Activity or Blair Witch ever been in another movie? That type of film is almost a morgue for actors.

Personally this film could be a good fit if WWE films really wants to move further away from the wwe part of it's name. I mean it's better than the chaperone already and it hasn't even been made!

Also was the film with Orton having a cameo any good? i imagined it might have been good as it has Ed Harris in it...

Definitely not gonna see this one. I just don't get into seeing these guys trying to act. SCSA and The Rock are the only ones who are good triple h and cena ted dibiase are not so good.

They need to stop taking established stars and putting them in crap movies.

Personally since Kharma is supposed to be out until the summer I would throw her in a bikini and have her be the star. BOX OFFICE GOLD. Count that shit

The Miz is an actor. I could see him being the douchebag boyfriend of main hot girl, that ends up getting killed or something.

If it's a horror movie, then they might throw Kane in there or how about The Undertaker?

If it's found footage, it needs to be a unknown cast. It sells the story better than to have WWE superstars actually starring in the movie.

The problem is you just can't get hype like The Blair Witch Project anymore. These days with google, wiki, and all that stuff everybody's gonna find out it's fake after a week. Especially when you're using people who appear on a nationally broadcast show like Monday Night RAW.
