WWE Signs Two Irish Wrestling Stars

The Dragon Saga

Whale in a Teardrop
WWE signed two workers who have been wrestling around Ireland for at least seven or eight years, don't know if either has ever worked in the States but I do know that WWE sent somebody to a training facility we have called SMASH Wrestling to observe talent and apparently they signed two.

One is called Omen, and wears a creepy mask. He also co-found a promotion over here called No Limit Wrestling - most Irish wrestling promotions work with each other. He's about six foot and well built, here's an image of him:

And the other is Rachelle St. Claire who is about AJ's size, don't know too much about her but when I saw her wrestle she does a pretty mean Frankensteiner.

Yay for Irish wrestling!

Are we sure Omen isn't Tyler Reks trying to sneak back into WWE?

As for Miss St. Claire, I'll reserve judgement until we get some pictures of her from the back as well.

Rachelle St. Claire is drop-dead fucking gorgeous. It's no wonder the WWE signed her.

Ha! I saw Omen just last weekend losing his "world" title to Dunkan Disorderly. His moving on to such bigger things makes sense of him losing the belt in a place like Coleraine.

Did most of his best work interacting with the crowd, although you could tell that there was a potentially decent in-ring worker in there. As for his gimmick, it is a good one but because he is comparatively small, it would probably work a lot better as a face but then he will no doubt lose it very quickly.

Cue immediate calls for an Irish stable with Sheamus, Finlay and Hornswoggle.

I've never actually heard him being built from Ireland. He cuts promos in a dark voice sans accent too so WWE may not even acknowledge his homeland. Be cool if they did though, unless Prince Devitt signs some time soon I wouldn't mind seeing an Irish gimmick that doesn't revolve around a desire to constantly fight.

Tyler Reks in an old school Kane mask. Awesome.

DAMN!!

On a slightly related note, is Irish wrestling similar to the American wrestling style?

Nah. The Irish style tends to involve more fights, alcohol, and the color green.

At a show I went to a couple years ago there was genuinely a match set-up over one wrestler spilling the others drink in a pub. Pre-match promo was hilarious.

In actuality it depends which promotion you go to. NWA Ireland was set-up by Prince Devitt (top Irish wrestler in NJPW) and is mostly mat wrestling. Irish Whip Wrestling has a bit of everything. Fight Factory is mostly brawls but has a couple good high fliers. Dublin Championship Wrestling is also a lot of different styles.

NWA Ireland stick to themselves and only hold like a couple events every six months, with some guys going off to England. IWW has had a lot of "big names" appear, Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles, Nigel McGuinness. Most of the other promotions hold joint shows. We have a lot of British talent appearing, Zack Sabre Jr, Rockstar Spud (before TNA), Blossom Twins, Noam Dar etc.

McIntyre, then The Drew Galloway and with Stu "Wade Barrett" Sanders as his ally, defeated Sheamus for that title after chasing him for like a year.

Think I have the actual title change on a DVD somewhere.

I remember Drew appearing on a lot of Irish shows with an IWW belt (I think it was International?!) and facing Prince Devitt outside IWW with it on the line. I was sitting front row when he pushed Devitt from the top rope and landed a bit away from me hard on the guard rail. He also faced Go Shiozaki while champion.

And Sheamus used to really play a "Celtic Warrior" back then, without a beard he looked quite odd though.
