WWE PPV Commercials on the Network

King Patrick Star

K. O. T. R. 2007 -€“ Team Undisputed
I've been watching every Pay Per View, in chronological order, and I'm currently on my favorite Pay Per View of all time, WrestleMania XIX. I noticed something quite strange. Right after the World Heavyweight Championship match between Triple H and Booker T., a WWEShop commercial runs. The odd thing I noticed is on the graphic, I see the WWE United States Spinner Championship Title Belt. I rewind and take a closer look, and I then see some WrestleMania 21 merchandise. How did that happen?? I think I'm about to watch both of my WrestleMania XIX DVDs (the original and the one that came with the WrestleMania Antholgy) just to see what was there.

Sounds a little Orwellian to me, and certainly not surprising. We live in an age where you can watch a rerun of How I Met Your Mother, and the televisions in the background have commercials of Jurrassic World superimposed on them. I'll bet that the Network has new "era specific" ads that are embedded in specific content, resulting in the occasional anomolie, such as WM 21 content advertised during WM 19.

I reiterate; Orwellian.

Some on other boards mentioned that the WWE must have used the Anthology DVD set version, which makes perfect sense. I haven’t checked out my WM XIX DVDs yet, but now I think the one from my Anthology set could have that same commercial. I’ll check it out sometime this week.

What it most likely means, is there was an ad there that they no longer have legal rights to show.

Like if it was a sponser who is no longer affiliated with WWE and will sue them over redistributing the old ad.

Just like watching ECW shows on the Network. What do you hear when RVD comes out? Sandman? Tommy Dreamer? New Jack? Etc

You don't hear the music that was actually on the show. Because WWE don't have legal rights to that music despite owning the video library that contains that show, so its edited with Cheap generic songs.

WWE probably had to edit out ads and just placed whatever they had In the spot. Whoever did it didn't put enough thought into what ads to place on what shows.

I think this is probably the answer. It's just a legal thing. Not that big of a deal.
