At Night of Champions, Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler will put his title on the line against Kofi Kingston. If Ziggler gets disqualified or counted out, the bleach-blond Superstar’s high-flying adversary will soar away the new champion!

Dolph Ziggler captured the Intercontinental Title from Kingston, thanks in part to a distraction from SmackDown’s Official Consultant Vickie Guerrero. Though a rematch was signed for SummerSlam, a brutal attack on both Superstars by The Nexus during the match prevented a clear winner from being declared.

In back-to-back rematches on SmackDown, Ziggler managed to hold on to his illustrious title by questionable means, thanks once again to his nefarious girlfriend Vickie. In their first showdown – just when it appeared Kingston was gaining a decisive advantage – Guerrero pushed the No. 1 contender off the top rope, drawing the disqualification. One week later – when both Superstars were attempting to beat the referee’s count back into the ring – Guerrero prevented Ziggler’s reentry. Since the title can only change hands by pinfall or submission, Ziggler’s title reign survived both of the strategic loses.

To prevent further controversy from occurring at Night of Champions, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long stipulated that if Ziggler gets counted out or disqualified, Kingston will reclaim the coveted title.

Will Teddy Long’s actions finally bring a definitive Intercontinental Champion back to SmackDown? Find out at Night of Champions, Sunday, Sept. 19, at 8/7 CT, only on pay-per-view.

This match was announced this week on SmackDown. It is the Intercontinental title match of NoC and will hopefully be the match we we never got to see at SummerSlam. Interesting stipulation too, which is that if Ziggler loses in any form (DQ and Count Out) he will lose the title. Keep all discussion of this match in this thread please and thank-you.

im hoping that ziggler wins this one because i think he deserves a long title run at least up until the royal rumble

i also want this match to be a strong 15 minute match so that these two can show off their talent not some crappy ass 5 minute waste of time :p

I somehow see this going one of two ways:

Scenario One: The match stays as advertised, and Dolph wins somehow, possibly even clean.

Kofi and Dolph have been having good matches for several weeks now, and I don't expect this one to be any different. The match stipulation basically forces this to have a clean ending, especially since they've already faced off so many times. Dolph needs a good, strong win. Kofi can main event once this Taker/Kane thing is over. Dolph doesn't look particularly credible when you look at the match records. A win over a massively popular face could cement him as a believable champion. Then he can feud with various faces, like Chris Masters, or Kaval. And speaking of Kaval...

Scenario Two: Kaval cashes in his title shot that he won on NXT, and enters himself in the match, and we may or may not get a new IC Champion.

Now, I don't really think this is likely to happen, but never say never. Kaval has his title shot, he's the new guy in town, and this would be a way for us to not see Kofi/Dolph again. Not that I would mind, since their previous encounters haven't had clean finishes, but it's just a thought.

No matter what happens, I expect a clean ending and a good match.

I hope Ziggler goes over clean here. He needs a clean IC title win to regain his credibility as IC champion. Wins by DQ never really makes you a good champion.

I see Ziggler winning due to interference by Vickie somehow without the referee seeing. I think this is the only way to book the match b/c I think Kofi needs to be elevated to the upper mid card and maybe enter a fued with Swagger. Dolph should have a few month long reign as IC champion and have a fued with Kaval over the title.

This has been a pretty good build for the Intercontinental Championship. You have Kofi Kingston, probably the most dominant mid-card champion in recent times taking on Dolph Ziggler, who has used his connections to get away with the victory in any way he can. Pretty much all the ways to maintain both stars credibility have been exhausted, dictating that Ziggler is backed into a corner here. The only way to win is from a clean victory, something that Kofi has managed to do on Ziggler in the past.

If we have Kofi Kingston winning the match, Dolph will get knocked down a peg and won't be challenging for any championships soon... unless me makes a tag team (which I highly doubt). It'll be a good win for the crowd and Kofi, as his character can mix it up with a lot of the stars. If Dolph finally beats Kingston, Ziggler will make himself dominant as he has beaten Kingston on many fronts and doesn't need to cheat for victories. Ziggler can go on to defend against people like Kaval and MVP whilst Kofi Kingston can slowly climb the ranks to reach the World Championship scene. Kofi has more of a chance than Ziggler has at getting to the top, so Ziggler winning would be the preferable idea... but I wouldn't mind it if Kingston won either, though there is nothing left for him there.

hopefully the winner of this match at the next pay per view meets Kaval one on one, even if Kofi wins, i could see a Kaval and Kingston feud being great especially if one of them turns heel, however, i see Dolph winning this and maybe a Dolph and Kaval feud could lead to what i REALLY want to see, Alex Riley hired by Vickie Guerrero behind Long's back on Smackdown.

How would this scenario work Dolp Ziggler fights a hard match and at the end of the match as Kofi Kingston is a bout to hit Trouble in Paradise Ziggler hits the ref drawing a DQ. Thhey have a batttle royal to get into the title mach as Kaval has already asked to challenge for that title, Then it would be the winner of the battle royal hopefully alberto del rio, and kaval/del rio at HOC

Like some others have said, I see Dolph coming out with the win here, maybe not clean, but I think he will win regardless. Even though I am a proud Kofi Kingston mark, I still think it would be best for Dolph to go over here. If Ziggler does happen to go over clean, I can only hope it doesn't result in a loss of steam for Kofi in the end. Best case scenario: Dolph wins, but Kofi comes off looking good enough so that he can start to break into the main-event after the whole Kane and 'Taker feud cools down/ends.

Well, what's this? Wrestlemania 25 all over again. I don't really like the whole no disqualification no count-out thing for Dolph Ziggler to retain. I think it will eventually hurt the match just a little bit, especially since there's obvious tension boiling over between the two. They've got a nice feud going on, and I don't see why WWE wouldn't want to perhaps bring it a bit to the extremes.

I've never been a big fan of "The champion can loose his belt if he is ..." and I don't see why they would make sense of using it in this, just because Dolph has resorted to these kind of retains before.

It will be a decent match though. They always find a way to deliver when needed, and they've performed good matches before. I'm hoping for Dolph Ziggler to retain, and then move on to feud with someone else for once.

These two have been having a spectacular feud so far. The matches up to this point have been very entertaining, and I expect this one to be no different. Much like everyone else, I think Dolph could use a clean win over Kofi to make him look more legit as the IC champ.
I would not be surprised to see Vickie removed from ring side at the start of the match, just to insure she dose not play a factor in the contest. I would like to see Dolph get the win here and move on to a feud with Kaval.
I would like to see Kofi move on from the IC title picture after this match. I think he should start stepping up into the lower main event scene.

I see Dolph picking up the "W" and Striker saying,"Dolph just burnt some Jamaican in the zig zag."

The feud between these two has been very solid. Whenever they get in that ring together, they seem to have a decent match and this should be no different, especially with the stipulation that the WWE added.

I don't see the need for Kofi to win here. He just plain doesn't need a win in this match. He held the IC title for long enough and now it's time for him to move up the card and onto another feud (possibly something with Punk or Swagger). As for Dolph, well he should win here. He's already beaten Kofi multiple times before and this should be no different. I see a clean win here for him before going on to feud with possibly Kaval or Christian for the belt.

My Prediction: Winner & STILL IC Champion: Dolph Ziggler

The obvious choice here would be dolph ziggler. He needs a solid run with the title. This will probably be the last match of the feud(been a long one too) due to the stipulation that has been added..dolph wins and moves on to christian (prefferably) or matt hardy or even kaval..and kofi should just stay in the mid card as he doesnt seem fit for the main event to me...more of a solid career mid carder if you ask me...but thats just my opinion...
as for this match, vickie will probably be ejected from ringside early in the match, and dolph will win in a cheap but clean sort of a way(with the ref knocked out of the turnbuckle exposed you know, that sort)
so the winner for me, Dolph Ziggler, and probably the last match of what has been a long, solid feud

These Two have had a pretty good feud so far. This guys have had some good matches against each other and I think they will have another good match at NOC. Kofi doesn't need the win here as he already had a pretty lengthy run with the belt. Ziggler gets the win here clean and ends the feud here with Kofi and hopefully goes on to feud with "Dashing Cody Rhodes" Alberto Del Rio or possibly Kaval.

I'm going to go with Dolph Ziggler retaining his Intercontinental Championship. I'm also hoping for this to be a great, clean match. Lets face it, WWE can put on some good matches when they want and I'm hoping this is one of them. I like it when two guys who are in a heated rivalry go at it, no gimmicks, no stories involved; just a straight up WRESTLING match.

I get hyped up for matches like this because I actually like the IC Championship and the matches it's been in. I don't however, want to see Ziggler lose the title so soon. I'm quite bored of seeing Kofi in the IC title run and I'm easily bored when he actually has the Championship itself. I just don't feel that he has much character. Yeah, he hypes up the fans before, during and after the match but his matches are quite boring.

A typical Kofi Kingston IC match when he's champion just consists of him coming out to the ring, looking incredibly happy all the time and jumping around the ring like a Kangaroo. He starts getting really into the match and gets his ass handed to him everytime, but still pulls out a victory then starts hyping up the crowd again. It's the same everytime.. so I think he's quite boring.

Anyway, I'm rooting for Ziggler in this match; I really hope this match is a good one.

This has been a really good fued which, as i've seen KB say, has had simple yet effective booking, Dolph retains by count out and DQ so in the PPV match he loses the title if he does that then to give Kofi some momentum he beats Dolph in a tag match, it is simple yet highly effective booking.

Anyway this should be a good match as always, these two have delivered some amazing matches over the past months and I expect this one to be no different. I see Dolph coming out victorious here, he only just won the title not too long ago and Kofi has already had a longish title reign this year.

This should be an exciting match to see on the SmackDown side of the PPV. Kofi is ready to jump to the main event at long last and Dolph hasn't held the title that long. Vickie will somehow play a part and help Dolph secure the win, even with the new stipulations added to it. A win over Kofi will legitimize Doplh and Kofi will move onto the main event. What I want to see is which finisher will Dolph use to beat Kofi!

I'm glad we get another opportunity to see this match. Nexus ruined at it Summerslam, so this time we actually get to see the match! It will most likely open the show if Show/Punk doesn't. I think that Ziggler will retain, he needs the victory more because his reign has been boring and I cannot take him seriously as a champion. Kofi has held the belt already and is ready to move on to feuds higher up on the card if you ask me. Ziggler retains and Kofi moves on to better things after a decent match.

DAGGER'S PREDICTION
Dolph Ziggler will retain the Intercontinental Championship.

Dolph Ziggler (c) vs Kofi Kingston
I think after the sudden change in Kofi Kingston's attitude that WWE actually have some bigger plans for him in the future. Kofi Kingston is more serious and has been more aggressive and I think this change will lead to a little mini-push for Kofi Kingston after he moves on from Dolph Ziggler. I believe he will be in a feud with someone like Jack Swagger or CM Punk (both former World Champions) and that will hopefully lead him to Main Eventing on the SmacKDown Brand.

Dolph Ziggler on the other hand I believe will continue his IC Championship reign and he will have a good lengthy run with the title. And I think since Dolph Ziggler has been winning his matches dirty that his title reign will be somewhat like Edge's was a few years ago with different stipulations and him winning most of his matches via DQ and etc.

All in all I believe tonight this match won't end clean. Dolph Ziggler will leave with the victory one way or another. Kofi Kingston will move on to bigger and better things and Dolph Ziggler will continue his reign as the IC Champion.

DAGGER'S PREDICTION
Dolph Ziggler will retain the Intercontinental Championship.

I was right on this one. The match was alright, and I'm glad we got to actually see it this time unlike at Summerslam. The only real problem I had with the match was Vickie because she's so annoying. (Unfortunately she's even more annoying if you attend an event in person).... It was a decent opening match and I liked it.
