WWE needs captions... pronto!

Sitting watching RAW this evening and early on we see ADR approach Big Show and Kane and not speak a word of English as he rants off about something pertaining to his car or some burrito. Annoyed at the fact that I didn't understand a word of ADR's 30 second rant, King was nice enough to inform me in his limited Spanish that most of what he said, couldn't be said. (Wouldn't swear words and threats of an unspeakable nature spoken in other language still cross the PG 13 line?)

Back 10 or so years ago there weren't nearly as many foreign wrestlers from different countries who spoke different languages. It was more of token thing. An easy way to have someone be a heel with the dominant American audience. Now we have wrestlers in the ring who speak Spanish (ADR, Mysterio, Melina, Chavo, Sin Cara) French (Maryse) Punjabi? (Jinder Mahal, Great Khali) Russian (Kozlov) Broken English (Santino lol) and we could have possible other languages such as Japanese spoken by other wrestlers.

My problem is I've seen ADR have two long spanish rants, one this Raw and a conversation with Rey the week before, and on SD Jinder yelling at Khali in Punjabi or whatever language it was. It is no longer just a few words to get a cheap boo out of the audience, they talk out there. And some WWE fans do speak those languages so they get to know what they are saying. I feel like I'm missing out on something when these guys speak and to me the lack of not understanding what they are saying is making them have less heat than them just being the typical 'foreigner' heel. I want to know what they are saying and I think WWE should put captions on TV and on the titantron so fans can know what they are saying. What does everyone else think? Thoughts?

If WWE intended on having you know what was being said the wrestlers would speak English. You're not missing out on anything. It's not like they're building an angle just for people who speak Punjabi. I'm sure you could make a pretty safe assumption of what they're saying. I have no idea what Del Rio said tonight. It was random trash talk. Does it really matter what specifically was said?

all you're probably missing (since I'm also one that doesn't speak spanish) is ADR tearing into Big Show saying its not his fault (when in the car scene) or basically doing a typical heel promo against show when they were talking backstage beforehand...

If the writers want you to hear something, they'll spell it out in english... If it's just filler they'll speak in whatever language they want.....

If not, you could also hadd Hornswoggle and his Leprechaunese to your list...

I agree. I didnt understand one fucking thing del rio said. Im watching the tv and im like..... "Uhhhhh okay?". Like seriously WTF? It makes me hate him even more...but not in the good way.

Alberto is a giant constant fucking failure. He'll never win the wwe championship. All he does is smile, drive a car, extend his hands out, speaks random spanish, cant wrestle and does a armbar. What a waste of a push. Send him back to FCW or whatever. God the guy is a complete failure.

Hes like the son of JBL and Eddie, except he fails at both gimmicks combined.

I think the WWE is just trying to reach people in different countries. Its a smart move on their part because more fans across the globe equals more $. And like The Brain pointed out if the WWE wanted u to know what was being said they would speak english. Plus it adds a touch of foreign flavor to the WWE,making it obvious that they have superstars from all around the world. ADR called Kane and Big show "Freaks,filthy dogs, and that in his country they would be nobodys (referring to wrestling)." During Accident told Ricado to, "Back the car up." During inteview ADR was screaming, "It wasn't my fault.."

Actually the WWE has captioning but you have to turn it on, on your tv. what Del Rio and Rodriguez said is not translating in English even w/ the captioning on. Cause all it says is [Speaking In Spanish] but I get your point they should have captions goin w/ what they say. The only thing sucky is that if u want captions you can't watch it on the HDMI input.
So going to your thing about they need captions pronto they've been there for 15 years at least you just need to enable your tv for them.

Yeah they should caption anything not said in english so we can understand it

Would be even better if they captioned it incorrectly on purpose to make it sound like they are saying the opposite thing or something ridiculous so its even funnier cause then the actual spanish speakers would be rolling on the floor laughing when its absolutley not what they are saying written on the screen lol

It's a heel tactic to alienate the fans and audience. Del Rio is a foreign heel. It's evidently working (maybe working too well on that MrPops guy) seeing as a thread has been created complaining about it. It makes a change from the usual, "I can't stand you, but listen to my several minute monologue as to why in a way you can clearly understand," and also acts as a way to unsettle whoever is being spoken to.

Hmmmm, I'm guessing the OP was already aware of TV subtitling services, but back to the point that was being made, personally I think that having translated subtitles on what is supposed to be a live show would really bugger that whole suspension of belief thing.
