Getting Noticed By Management
Foreword:
My Book This fed is based on the WWE and set in the year 2012. The story will begin after SummerSlam 2012 thus placing it about 3 years from now. In those 3 years there have, of course, been several significant changes to the WWE landscape. I will extensively outline the backstory so that you, the readers, have a clear picture of what has been going on in the WWE in that time period. Also, i will post the 2012 roster and give an explanation as to what has happened to the careers of all of the wrestlers it includes. I will also provide some infromation about the wrestlers who have retired from the WWE. I will attempt to create rather realistic backstories for the wrestlers and accurately estimate what the WWE landscape will be 3 years from now. Of course, some liberties will have to be taken in order to set up entertaining storylines, but i will keep it as realistic as possible for the most part. If you have any questions about the backstory, or wish to know what has happened to a particular wrestler in my version of the future then please leave a comment and i will be sure to respond. Unlike most Book This threads i will not be writing all the shows for every week, instead i will write all of the monthly pay per view events and give in-depth descriptions of the storyline for each match before writing the outcome of the match. I chose this method in order to save time and effort and make the show easier to follow. I'd like to thank you ahead of time for reading and trust you will find it enjoyable.
Backstory:
The brandsplit has been ended in the WWE, and there is now one, solid roster. The PG era has also come to an end and WWE programming now has a TV-14 rating. Many old wrestlers have retired and new stars have risen into prominence. The World Titles were unified at the final "Night of Champions" pay-per-view in an epic tournament (which took place in June 2012). In the finals of the tournament were top heel Chris Jericho, who was looking to win the Undiputed Championship for the second time in his career and the top young star in the WWE, John Morrison. Morrison shocked the world, defeating Chris Jericho in order to win the tournament and capture the Undisputed World Championship. However, this match marked only the beginning of the rivalry between Jericho and John Morrison, a rivalry which has evolved since Night of Champions and resulted in some truly fantastic matches. The IC title was also unified with the US title and the two women's title were unified as well.
Randy Orton's faction Legacy has imploded. Rhodes and DiBiase turned on Orton and were pushed heavily as babyfaces. Both of them went on to have very breif runs as WWE Champion on RAW, back when the brandsplit was still in effect. However, they never really connected with the audience as many of the fans opted to cheer for the badass heel Orton rather than Rhodes or DiBiase.
Vince McMahon has officially stepped down and passed on the company to his children Shane and Stephanie McMahon. Stephanie McMahon's husband Triple H has suffered a career ending injury, he retired as a 15 time World Champion and is considered to be on of the greatest of all time. Triple H is still a part of the program however, and now acts as the General Manager of the WWE.
Active Roster:
Main Eventers
Randy Orton- after the implosion of Legacy, Orton went on to become even more of a psycotic heel. He no longer relies on cheating and its much more aggressive. He is a rogue badass, who operates alone and is feared by nearly everyone. Although booked as a heel, he recieves a huge babyface reaction.
John Cena- eventually, as Cena's main fanbase matured, Cena himself needed to mature and evolve as a performer. Losing all respect for wrestling fans, Cena finally turned heel. He now works for himself rather than for the fans or the company and is one of the best heels of all time.
Edge- a veteran main eventer who is approaching legendary status. With his Rated R Superstar gimmick he remains a top face in the company. He and Christian occassionally reunite as a tag- team similar to the DX reunions.
CM Punk- has taken his straightedge gimmick to the next level and is one of the top heels in the WWE.
Chris Jericho- after his tag team run with the Big Show came to an end Jericho went on the feud with the Big Show and then eventually feuded with the returning Edge. He still remains a top heel in the company and is still a great wrestler although he soon wishes to leave the WWE for good.
John Morrison- the number one babyface in the company. His mic skills, catchphrases, looks and high flying style have made him phenomenally popular.
Jack Swagger- has improved on the mic and in the ring. Had a great fued with "the American Hero" John Cena before Cena turned heel. This feud really pushed Swagger and got over his "All American American" gimmick. Further putting over his gimmick was his extremely lengthy run as the United States champion.
Upper Midcarders
Kofi Kingston- eventually, his over enthusiastic Jamaican babyface gimmick grew stale. Therefore, he radicallly changed his character and turned heel. Gone is the lame, fake Jamaican accent, gone is the jumping around, smiling and high fiving the fans. Similar to how Rocky Maivia became the Rock.
Evan Bourne- continues to steal the show. Is over as a face based on wrestling talents alone. Is one of the workhorses of the midcard.
MVP- turned heel, similar to the manner in which Kofi Kingston did. Adopted much of his original heel character, which is how he got over in the first place. Has abandoned his over-enthusiasm and desire to please the fans. Occasionally teams with Kofi.
Christian- in mid-2010 turned heel and feuded with his "brother" Edge over the World Title. Later turned back into a babyface, made amends with Edge and went on to reunite with his "brother" as a tag-team.
The Miz- an arrogant heel who has also stepped up to the main event level. He won the MITB Ladder match at WrestleMania 26 and cashed in to win the world title. Thus, he is now a former world champion.
Bryan Danielson- a rising star. The absolute best midcard prospect, a true world champion in the making. Viewed as the next great technical wrestler (similar to Hart, Benoit and Angle). Has the best entrance in the WWE- with "the final countdown" as his entrance theme. His entrance and in-ring prowess have made him a very popular babyface.
Midcarders
Ted DiBiase- after breaking away from Orton and Legacy he turned face and became fairly popular but not popular enough to remain in the main event. He is now floundering in the midcard and occasionally teams with his brother Brett.
Cody Rhodes- after breaking away from Legacy had a short face run before turning back to heel. He now leads a midcard stable known as the "new Legacy" with fellow second generation stars Joe Hennig and Ricky Steamboat Jr.
Brett DiBiase- a face midcarder who sometimes teams with his brother Ted.
Primo- the WWE decided that having one Puerto Rican is enough and believed Primo to be better than Carlito. Carlito was fired and Primo is still a midcard face.
Shelton Benjamin- turned face and is now managed by Goldust (Gold Standard +Goldust= win). Shelton and Goldust have a relationship similar to Booker T and Goldust.
Dolf Ziggler- a rather generic midcard heel who has talent, but never really stepped up. Former IC champion.
Shad Daddy- after the two members of Cryme Tyme went their seperate ways Shad was given a solid midcard face push based on his size, mic skills and decent wrestling ability.
Zack Ryder- basically a comedic heel. Featured in cheesy segments doing his annoying cathphrases. Never EVER wins a match clean. You know it.
Santino- still a face, and still serving the role of comic relief. Although he desperately needs a heel turn.
Yoshi Tatsu- still a midcard face. Was given a highly racist asian stereotype gimmick similar to Taijiri.
Nigel McGuiness- was given a goofy British gimmick with William Regal as his heel manager. Earning a reputation for being a very good and very aggressive wrestler.
Full Time Tag Teams
Hart Dynasty- somehow remained a team for a long time and have benefitted because of it. Top heels in the WWE, and the best tag team going.
Briscoe Brothers- the pattern of signing ROH talents was continued and the Briscoes were brought in. They immediately got over as faces and tore up the tag division. Known for their extreme style and hardcore matches.
Ricky Steamboat Jr. and Joe Hennig- members of the midcard heel stable known as "the New Legacy", which is led by Cody Rhodes.
Rey Mysterio and Mistico- the mexican high flying superstar Mistico was brought in by the WWE, and as a part of this luchadore tag team with Mysterio, Mistico has become very very popular. Mysterio is a veteran but still is a better worker than most of the roster. Mistico is seen as the next Rey Mysterio and is loved on the internet.
Part Time Tag-Teams:
Edge and Christian- babyface.
Kofi and MVP- heel.
Ted and Brett Dibiase- babyface.
Divas:
Mickie James- brought back her crazy lesbian gimmick and turned heel again.
Melina- veteran face in the women's division.
Beth Phenoix- turned face and won the first ever "Queen of the Ring" tournament. Now uses the "Queen of the Ring" as a gimmick.
Natalya- part of the heel group the Hart Dynasty. Acts as a wrestler as well as a manager.
Kelly Kelly- very popular face, now a former women's champion and playboy cover girl.
Maryse- still the arrogant French Canadian heel.
Angelina Love- shortly after leaving TNA she was signed by the WWE and pushed heavily in the women's divison as a face.
Commentary
Todd Grisham- play by play commentator.
Matt Striker- color commentator.
Josh Matthews- Backstage interviewer.
Retired Wrestlers:
Undertaker- retired with a WrestleMania record of 20-0. Now a Hall of Famer.
Shawn Michaels. retired at WrestleMania 26 when he lost a career threatening match against Triple H. Now a hall of famer.
Jeff Hardy- currently serving time for drug related charges. Most likely will not learn his lesson, end up dying and become yet another wrestling tragedy.
Matt Hardy- helping to train young wrestlers in the WWE developmental system.
Kane- put the mask on and went for one last monster run before retiring with some dignity.
Big Show- suffered an injury further reducing his mobility and forcing him to retire.
Batista- had his career "ended permanatly" in storyline by Randy Orton. In truth, he simply was getting older, was losing his determination and was physically broken down.
