This picture just says it all doesn't it? In case you couldn't tell, it's CM Punk meeting Stone Cold Steve Austin (I know what you're thinking, could've cracked a smile Punk)... But I'm sure it was a great moment for Punk, being a fan of wrestling and meeting Stone Cold, especially during the Attitude Era.

But anyway moving on in this thread, (thought I'd skip the segment where there's a guy in the background who looks suspiciously like Matt Striker) I thought I'd move on to the subject of WWE's generations.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

To be more specific I wanna know what you guys would consider a good face of the WWE, what qualities, what skills? So please answer me these questions:

1) What does every face of the WWE have to have to BE the face?
2) What qualities would you like to see in the next face of the company?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I thought the guy in the back was Davey Boy.

1) What does every face of the WWE have to have to BE the face?
Charisma no doubt. He has to be able to connect with the fans. He has to be able to put on matches that entertain people because they're invested in the character. They don't have to be "5 star" matches but he needs to be able to pull the crowd in.

2) What qualities would you like to see in the next face of the company?

I'd like to see someone who draws me into what they do or say. I grew up being a Shawn Michaels fan because he had a way of making me feel what he said and did was real. I wanted to be him. I'd like to see that in the next face of the company. Make me envious of what you do every week. Make me wish I was you.

It is Davey Boy.

1) What does every face of the WWE have to have to BE the face?

Drawing ability, fan support, marketable image, ability to speak, ability to adapt, pride in being the top guy of the top wrestling promotion on the planet. If there not making money, why make them the face? If they don't have the people either staunchly against them or behind them, why make them the face? If you can't put their image on a poster of a pay-per-view, why make them the face? If they can't speak in public situations, why make they the face? And if their not happy being the top guy and are proud to wear the WWE logo on their backs, why make them the face?

What you going to do? Make an ugly looking behemoth who nobody wants to see, nobody cares for, who can't make money, speak or show pride in the company the image of what the company is supposed to be? No, you're not.

2) What qualities would you like to see in the next face of the company?

Read above.

Judging by that, wrestling success is all in the chin. I've never known anyone as young as Punk appears to be in that picture with that kind of jawline. And it almost matches Austin.

The wrestling "it" factor = chin

1) I would assume that you make your most over guy the face of the company. Sure it helps if the guy is a company man, but from all I've read and heard, Hogan was a total dick backstage. You also want your face to be a credible champ (kayfabe-wise, of course).

2) Contemporary comics, films and novels have one thing in common - flawed characters. I don't know why the WWE thinks that superhero-characters are the way to go these days. This isn't a so much quality of the wrestler, but of the creative team. If the audience can't relate to a character, he loses some of his appeal - "Let's go Cena, Cena sucks..."

In todays WWE to be the face of the company you need to be the perfect good guy. No controversy at all. You know, basicly the person you wouldn't expect to be a wrestler.

I would like to see a more edgey, aggresive face of the company. I mean it is wrestling and they are meant to make it look violent.

You have to have charisma period to the top face of the wwe. And be able to put on ok matches.

I would want a guy that can lead the looker room and help the guys in the back to put on good matches and put on great matches themselves.
