WWE Extreme Rules 2012: Big Show (c) vs. Cody Rhodes (Wheel Spin) [Int. Championship]

Jack-Hammer

YOU WILL RESPECT MY AUTHORITAH!!!!
It was announced last Monday on Raw that Cody Rhodes will challenge Big Show at Extreme Rules for the Intercontinental Championship that he lost to Show at WrestleMania XXVIII. There's been no stipulation announced and I'm assuming that the stip will be announced this Friday on SmackDown!.

On the surface, I'm assuming that Show will retain the title. However, that depends on what the stipulation for the match might be. Personally, I'm hoping Cody regains the title and that they get back on track with him.

I think the Cody has far more to gain from holding the strap then Big Show does, my only irritation is that they took it off him in the first place. I mean what did show really gain? A WM win could have waited a year, a year of Cody rubbing that in the worlds face. It could have really helped him gain cred to best the giant and get a win at WM.

Anyway I doubt they will pass it back to cody too soon. So I reckon bigshow retains.

I can see Big Show retaining here, but with Cody coming out of the match still looking strong because then he can be elevated further up the card without having to win the belt again. While I don't particularly like Big Show as champion, Cody no longer needs the Intercontinental Championship. They should be building him up for a Money In the Bank win this summer. I don't expect anything spectacular out of this match but it might be alright. Big Show retains and moves on to his next challenger (who I am nearly fully convinced will win the belt) while Rhodes moves on to the first in a string of filler feuds to build him up before a potential MITB win in a few months.

DAGGER'S PREDICTION
Big Show will retain the Intercontinental Championship.

This is one of the matches that I'm least looking forward to on the card. I haven't been a fan of the storyline as a whole, in all actuality. Cody was great with the embarrassing Big Show moments, but ever since then, it's been lacking. I'm hoping this is the final match between the two, allowing them to move on to different things. Both men have a bunch of possible paths to head down -- especially Rhodes -- so the result of this match is obviously pivotal. I'm not expecting a great match, but it shouldn't be terrible, either.

I see Big Show retaining in this one. It's not that Rhodes can't go over, it's that he doesn't need to. Winning the title back would keep him marred down in the midcard, while losing the match -- maybe under some unusual circumstances -- would allow him to finally move on. I think Rhodes is more than ready for a small push up the card, so why not start now? He had a fine reign as Intercontinental Champion, and he's clearly been improving as a wrestler. Let Show hold onto the Intercontinental Championship for a while, before dropping it to a young up-and-comer, or someone who actually needs it (Sandow, Cesaro, any FCW guy who has the ability).

I'm not looking forward to this either now as far as who I think is going to win.I'm gonna go with Show here, there's no point in ending Cody's long title reign just so he can regain it back the next ppv and Rhodes has been losing all his matches lately after WM.

What a bad match it turned out to be. Both men wrestled pretty well, but the ending was horrible, it could have been a little more exciting as to when Cody won, a slip and a step down through a table, I felt was just a little exaggerated.
