I like the Spinner Belt myself as it fits the current generation. But if I had to choose, I'd like to see a new one. Going back to the old style belts would be kind of pointless and would only be there for the sake of nostalgia, even if I like the designs and have fond memories of them. I would want a new belt for a new era/generation instead of having the wrestlers remind you of champions of the past, they should be creating their own identities with the title. I just hope it doesn't look as awful as the new Tag Belts.

I picked Attiude Era belt for 1 reason, and 1 reason only.


Look at the ECW world champion, now look at the Diva's championship... now look at the Tag Team championships of the world.... Now look into my eyes, and tell me you trust WWE to create a brand new World Championship we can be proud of.

I agree with the WWE Tag Team Championship, but not the other two. The Divas Championship I'm basically neutral on, I don't love it but I like that it looks more feminine. I personally LOVED the platinum design of the ECW Championship, that's one of my favorite belt designs in wrestling history, probably my third after the WWE version of the United States Championship and the Big Gold Belt.

I'm actually kind of torn on this one, but in the end I voted for a completely new design. As much of an old-school fan as I am and as much as I would love to see the winged eagle belt back, I think that bringing back an old design would only tarnish the amount of work they've done in building up Cody Rhodes with him bringing back the old IC title design. I don't think that the WWE title status needs to be re-established as much as the mid card title belts do. Sure over the last several months there has been less of an emphasis on the WWE title [and that's a different thread entirely] but I feel they're already rectifying that. In the end I think it would be a better idea to just simply create a new, less campy looking belt. Bring about an entirely new feel to the title and it should restore the prestige.

The Undisputed WWE Championship design had a nice solid look about, though it didn't come across with any sort of real flash. The Attitude Era design has a nice old school feel about it. I doubt we'll see the Winged design because Hulk Hogan uses a title belt of that design in commercials promoting his video game.

Who owns the copyright to that design? It seems to me that it would still be the property of the WWE, and that Hogan probably has to pay royalties to use the winged eagle likeness. If it is still the intellectual property of the WWE, then they will use that belt if they want to, regardless of what Hulk Hogan is doing. I do think they should use the Attitude era belt though, just for aesthetic reasons.

if they are going to bring back an older version for a title please do it for the world heavyweight title as the current wcw title is outdated as well. Perhaps bring back the winged eagle for that championship since it read world champion. I think the wwe needs to bring a new title for a new era and since punk is champion what better time than now to do it.

i dont think going back to any of the old titles would be smart. as goofy as the spinner belt looks, it's bright, it's dynamic, it stands out. the older versions look dull in comparison.
so they should make a new, bright and dynamic but still classical and respectable, one.

oh yeah, i will add that i think (IF) they change the design of the title, CM Punk should be the one to introduce it. He's the guy that is trying to change the WWE and make it interesting and he would get more cheers from the crowd if he was the guy that changes the design of the WWE title, plus he said he was going to do that months ago, so it makes sense as well.

Personally, I say bring back the Winged Eagle belt or just make a brand new one that doesn't look like it came out of a cracker jack box.

The winged eagle belt had so many great champions attached to it from Hogan, Macho Man, Warrior, The Undertaker, Bret Hart, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels and the design itself looked awesome. If you are bringing back the classic IC title might as well bring back the top title from when the belt actually meant something. After Austin was done being champion the title slowly but surely lost prestige, for me Austin was the last great WWE champion.

I thought the attitude era belt was ok but honestly to me it looked like a shittier version of the winged eagle belt. I thought the eagle belt looked best, had plenty of prestige with it and would go hand in hand with the classic IC belt which they already brought back.

If they made a new IC belt I would say just make a new WWE title but after looking at the design of the last few belts they made (1 with a butterfly and another one that looks like a penny) just go back to one that worked, unless they can actually make a sweet looking new one but lately their track record isn't working for them.

I am from the old school days of wrestling when WWF Superstars was the '' A '' show & WWF Wrestling Challenge was the '' B'' show and on Monday Nights it was WWF Prime Time Wrestling so that being said, If WWE wants to bring back a title belt I have two of them that I was thinking about Hogans WWF belt from 1984- early 1988 ( The one from Wrestle Mania III if any one has the DVD you know what one I am referring to ) and the other title belt and I have read a lot of comments about it & the belt I am talking about is the Winged Eagle a lot of old school fans loved that belt it was one of the nicest and detailed wrestling belts ever made.

You mean the Undisputed title design that was used in 2002-05 when there was another world title on Raw?

Even if they brought back the design when Punk beat Cena at Summerslam, there was still the World Heavyweight Title on Smackdown....

I heard about the possible WWE Championship new design today, honestly I would rather see a new belt, the spinner I never liked.It was like the smokin skull belt for Austin, it should only been for Cena only.Now Cody recently using the classic IC Title tells me, that the WWE want to bring that respect to the WWE Championship.You know CM Punk will be getting in the ear of management to at least get a new title design.Could you imagine Punk with the classic Winged Eagle title coming out, that would establish change he wanted.

I think it is about damn time..Introduced a new title and change things up a bit

I would choose a modern day version of the winged eagle title. Have WWE symbol on it instead of WWF. That kind of stuff. I am not a fan of Championship titles that are basically made for one particular person, like Cena's spinner belt, Austin's smoking skull, and the Rock's Blue Bull title, I think. It needs to be classy and can going on a varitity of wrestlers without looking out of place, like the spinner belt looks on everyone besides Cena. If the WWE are in a PG phase, then the winged eagle, updated, seems like the right choice. That was the title wore by Hogan, Warrior, Macho Man, Bret Hart, HBK and others back when the WWE was a PG product. So if were in another PG phase then I think this form of the WWEC. is the one that fits best with the era we are in. It also has so much history that who ever wears it will look more like a real star in the business.IMO.

Undisputed title would be my second choice. That one was also really well designed.IMO.

I voted for the Undisputed Championship,

while I loved the Winged-Eagle and Attitude era belts, I think the Undisputed belt would fit with the WWE better, here's why

1. Winged Eagle: the WWE already brought the retro IC belt back, I do not want the same storyline to just get copied.

2. Attitude Era: Rock is "back", Austin might do one more match, Jericho could be 1.2.12, Undertaker will do Mania, Kane is on his way back, Christian will be returning, HHH is around, Henry is WHC, etc...

my fear is, if this belt returns, with all the guys from the era still around, they'll get pushed at the expense of Sheamus, Del Rio, Punk, Ziggler, etc...and that doesn't help anyone. These guys need to start going over the "regular" talent, because, by Mania 30, most of those guys will be retired, or once a year attractions, the guys in the trenches going at it every night will be the the current young midcarders/"recent" champions (Del Rio, Sheamus, Ziggler)

This risk makes the attitude belt a bad idea.


3. New Design.

I just don't trust the WWE to make something appealing after staying with the spinner for so long.


4. Undisputed belt

By process of elimination, this is the belt that's left.

From 02 (HHH) to 05 (Cena) this belt was held by

Brock Lesnar (MMA)
Biker Taker (character overhaul)
Hulk Hogan, Kurt Angle (TNA)
Big Show, HHH, Rock (part timers who [hopefully] will stay out of the world title picture except to lose big title matches like HBK from 03 on)
Eddie Guerrero (deceased)


In short, this title doesn't have much history with the current roster outside of Big Show and HHH. And at this stage, Big Show isn't touching a world title unless he gets one last nostalgia run to put over the next big man. Rock might get one last reign if his ego demands it, but honestly, the only way that happens is if his next movie is a WWE Film and part of his filming contract is he works Raw every Monday and PPV's on needed Sundays.

HHH...he might get the title one last time just (hopefully) for the sake of putting someone over big time. If HHH were to win the title from Punk at....whatever the May PPV is in a triple threat match with Cena (and have Cena take the fall)...and hold it til SummerSlam beating Cena in June and July...they could return the King of the Ring in 2012, have the 2012 King (possibly Ziggler) get major buildup and have Ziggler beat HHH at SummerSlam 2012, instantly making Ziggler credible as a champion.


Long story short: this belt could be used to become the "face" of the "reality era"

For everyone lobbying for new design instead of a variation of the previous titles, consider what the new tag team titles look like. Do you really want the WWE title to look like that? Imgine some round, big stupid Roman head looking thing?

It was between Winged Eagle style or Brand NEW for me.

And I went with Brand NEW! Cody Rhodes brought back an old style belt and I LOVE that...but this does not mean that all the belts have to be switched back to the old Skool (Leave the Heavyweight NWA style belt ALONE!).
WWE should be moving forward, Attitude era is well and truly dead and an attempt to get WWE back to the good old days is just simply not going to work....bringing back more than the one old belt is not going to assist this in any way.
Nostalgia is a lovely thing...but having something new can be just as awe inspiring.....but please....please do not create a belt that has a style relating specifically to a superstar on the current roster(see WWE Spinner, Rated R Spinner, MIZAwesome Spinner, SCSA Flaming Skull). A Straight Edge/Spanish Aristocrat/Viper/#HEEL Belt will do nothing more than piss people off.
And for christ sake....if the new belt has any text on it... let it be CHAMPION and not CHAMP..... Never has the WWE title had less prestige.

I liked teh Undisputed belt the best. It was a good looking belt and it isnt absurd like the current belt.

As someone else said I dont want a whole new belt because well im sure itll be worse than the tag and current wwe title. I believe those are both the newest belts besides the also awful divas belt. So I think new is a bad idea and I dont think you can go to far back. The original Undisputed belt was great until Cena won it. But who knows Punk has the belt and if anyone he should be the one to change it. So I dont think his personality would allow something ridiculous come out of a different belt because it would make him look bad

i have to say the undisputed championship because right now,without a doubt the wwe championship right now,looks like a freaking toy.to me, in my opinion, there is no prestige to the championship.the undisputed championship had prestige to it.plus since cm punk said that the wwe championship looks like a rapper's accesory, i think he should be the one to change the championship or bring back the undisputed championship

It looks modern enough for the current era, yet it looks prestigious enough that I can imagine the great champions from the past also wearing it. Also with the name plates for all of the past title holders on the side plates makes you remember how much history the Title has.

I would rather they make a new belt instead of bring back an old one. The Winged Eagle belt looked awesome and I would not mind seeing it return. I am in the minority when it comes to the Undisputed Championship's design. That belt was hideous and I hated how it looked. I think that a new design would be better, or to simply keep the belt they have now because like it or not it generates high merchandise sales. Plus it looks far better than people give it credit for. The spinner part has been gone for over 4 years now.
