This was a okay ppv and I only got excited when Christian hit the spear because I thought for a second that he would win but you have to keep in mind that Orton is the only main face so it's no way he can lose. Ziggler won the Us title but whose next to challenge Bourne and Kofi then who else? Im glad Zeke won the title and it seems he's getting more comfortable on the mic. Also yes for the moment Miz just totally got buried because he seriously just handed Alex Riley his 1st ever win in the wwe but hey just like R-truth it's not about the past.

Maybe the crowd was bored but I noticed during A-ry's and Zeke's entrance they barely got a pop and that shocking since A-ry's from DC but they popped for Zeke after he won the title.

I didn't think Kofi/Ziggler was as good as it could have been, and the way the commentators called the finish was really odd and made it confusing.

Miz and Riley was better than I thought it might be. It was billed as two guys wanting to beat the crap out of each other, and that's what it was. Riley going over was shocking, however. I'm worried that they'll push him to the moon too quickly. I also dislike that they've replaced the TKO with the Edge-cator. He finished a house show match last week with that, so it looks like it's what he's using as a finisher now. Bummer.

Punk and Rey stole the show, IMO. Great match, lots of suspense and some excellent spots. Punk going over is a welcome surprise, since Mysterio losing seems like such a rarity. Punk's promo was interesting and had a shoot feeling to it, even mocking the term "sports entertainment". I was caught a bit off-guard by it. Can't wait to see what he has up his sleeve in terms of his promise.

Barrett's promo was sorely needed. He hasn't done enough talking to get himself over since he moved to Smackdown, and has been held back by the failing Corre. As usual, he did an excellent job. The match was standard brawler vs. brawler fare, though I marked out when he got Zeke with Wasteland. Also, I adore the epic clothesline being countered into the Bossman Slam.

Show/ADR was decent for what it was, which we already knew wouldn't be much. Henry picking up Show and hitting the WSS was a mark-out moment.

Christian/Orton wasn't as good as their match at OTL, and Orton's inability to lose, even when injured, continues to piss me off. The finish likely results in another match, and I really hope to hell they let Christian go over, even if only to extend the feud another month.

Swagger/Bourne as a "special surprise bonus attraction" was pretty underwhelming. It was a decent match, but why hype it as such and place it where it was on the card? Going from a good WHC match to the Bellas bringing out some random jackass from a beer commercial into a hyped up bonus match that could have been a dark match for all anyone cared, then having to sit through the horrible "Obama" segment completely killed the crowd, who probably weren't even that excited for the main event as it was.

Cena/Truth was meh, and embarrassingly so, given that it was a WWE title main event finishing a PPV. Better than Hogan/Warrior at Halloween Havoc, but I can't remember ever being so completely indifferent about such a match.

This PPV was all over the place, and some of the booking was questionable, especially Riley in his first proper match where he's taken seriously going over the guy who held the WWE title just over a month ago. I would seriously like to know what the fuck they were thinking with the "Obama" crap. The backstage stuff was lame, and the pre-main event segment totally bored the hell out of everyone. Let's hope they never try that again.

Next month we get a gimmick PPV, and the emphasis will be placed firmly on the two MITB matches. It will be interesting to see who qualifies for them. We likely get Christian/Orton part four, hopefully with a different result, and the US Title rematch. I tend to believe Truth is done in the main event, and hopefully they can move Punk into that spot to give him something decent to do before he (allegedly) takes his leave. The next month could be interesting.

Also, can Lawler please shut the fuck up about Vickie being fat? She's in excellent shape these days. She's also not that hideous, either. Really.

Here is one thing about the PPV that was pretty distracting, Booker's commentary......."OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!" what are you PG Joey Styles? Also you can't tell what he is talking about half the time. Really takes away from the matches. He didn't know how to call a body scissors in the Punk match. They could stand to just have Cole and King call matches, they are about all I can handle.

so they build R-Truth and Christian into actually credible heels but Cena and Orton still gets the predictable win...how shocking. So what now Christian is the guy who wins the title after 14 years, loose it 2 days later , turns heel and gets beaten it the following 2 ppvs where he ties to win it back....good luck building on that. I know the foot was one the rope but come on, nobody is going to expect that Christian will end Orton`s reign, but hey surprise me. And oh Josh Cena overcame the odds again..and what a bad match that was. The PPV was as predictable as it gets...and not in an entertaining way. I don`t care if it is good for business or whatever, the whole Cena/Orton ruling the show again thing is absolutely boring..specially in a period they could actually try something different...like they did with Riley-Miz. And CM Punk still hasn`t sign new contract yet? WWE should look at him as priceless given the current roster. By far the best match of the night.
And don`t they have like one of the most exiciting wrestlers in the world in Sin Cara? Didn`t they sign a new Lucha libre star to work with him? Get them on the PPV as special surprise bonus attraction...can only help.

Well, for me it was a bit of an underwhelming PPV, but damn Punk and Rey stole the show. What a great match that was, and Vince really needs to ensure he gets Punk to sign on the dotted line. I liked the Riley, Miz match, just a little shocked at how it went down with Riley getting a clean win. Thought Miz would have got DQ'd myself, but oh well.

Riley to now hopefully feud with Dolph for the US Title maybe, or maybe he'll take the title off Dolph if Ziggler wins the MiTB. Who knows...

Ziggler, Kofi take 34 wasn't bad, happy Dolph got the win, but it definitely wasn't the best match the 2 have put on.

Big Show v Del Rio was ..... meh. Loved the WSS through the Table, that was cool, other than that, meh.

Truth was never going to beat Cena, so no surprise there, the match was incredibly lackluster though.

Christian and Orton was OK, we definitely haven't seen the end of this feud though unfortunately imo, Christian will probably get yet another chance coz of the foot under the rope.

Probably gets a 5.5/10 for me, mainly for Punk and Mysterio.

- The two world title matches set up the next PPV perfectly. Both of them should end up in the Money In The Bank matches, both should win, both should cash in on that very night. Possibly after seeing Christian cash in and win, Truth does the same and loses. It'd do wonders for his character. Truth is an entertaining mid card heel, not a headline heel. That'd be perfect for him.

- Ezekiel Jackson as IC champ doesn't make the slightest bit of difference. If he achieves what others haven't in the past couple of years, ie had a memorable reign, I'd be very surprised. I have no idea who he'll feud with now, hopefully Sheamus.

- Ziggler as US champ is exactly the same as him being IC champ, meaning it isn't even worth talking about. A feud with Bourne, not Ryder, should be on the horizon.

- Del Rio deserves better than Big Show.

- Can't think why they allowed Riley to go over The Miz. Surely The Miz wins with Riley gaining his revenge next month.

I didn't watch the PPV, but I wanna rate the matches, looking on what happened at the result.

Dolph Ziggler (w/ Vickie Guerrero) vs. Kofi Kingston
Kofi Kingston is announced first as his music sounds in the Washington D.C.'s Verizon Center and Kofi makes his way to the ring. Out next is Dolph Ziggler accompanied by Vickie Guerrero as his music blares in the arena's speakers. The match is formally announced as the bell rings and the match begins. Lots of back and forth between Kingston and Ziggler to begin the match. Kingston hits the SOS and a pin attempt to no avail as Ziggler kicks out before the three count. Once again Kingston gets the upper hand and goes for a high cross body kick for another near fall. Kingston again goes on the offense when Ziggler quickly counters with a sleeper hold. Kingston runs Ziggler into the turnbuckle to break the Ziggler's grip. Once again Ziggler re-applies the sleeper hold after Vickie scratches at Kingston's eyes. Ziggler pushes off the ropes in order to keep Kingston from reaching them as the bell rings. A bit of confusion momentarily as the referee awards the belt to Ziggler for the win by submission.
Rating: 3.5/5 - Sounds like a decent match, with a good result.

The Miz vs Alex Riley
As The Miz makes his way to the ring with his music blaring, he is shown carrying the briefcase with him. Alex Riley makes his way to the ring where both Riley and The Miz stare one another down as the match is formally announced, the bell rings and the match begins. The Miz gives Riley a boot to the face early on in the match. Riley starts trying to take the offensive and gets his first near fall on The Miz. The Miz and Riley make their way to the outside of the ring where Cole starts yelling at Riley. Riley is momentarily distracted and walks over to the announcers table where he pulls Michael Cole out of his seat and throws him to the ground. The Miz uses this time to regain his composure and take back the match. The Miz grabs the briefcase and attempts to hit Riley with it as both men are back inside the ring at this point. Riley hits The Miz with a double-armed jumping DDT for the three count.
Rating: 3/5 - Doesn't sound terrible, although like Jake said above, I'd thought Miz would win this one.

Alberto Del Rio vs Big Show
Alberto Del Rio enters in his normal sports car entrance sans the injured Ricardo Rodriguez. As Del Rio makes his way to the ramp, Big Show comes running out from backstage and attacks Del Rio from behind. Big Show throws Del Rio inside the ring and as Big Show makes his way into the ring behind him, Mark Henry shows up out of nowhere and attacks Show from behind. Henry quickly follows up by doing the World's Strongest Slam on the Big Show through the Spanish Broadcast Team's announcer table. Big Show is shown holding his knee on the ground as Del Rio is shown arguing with the referee. The referee turns his attention to Big Show and begins counting him out as he still lay ringside from his beating by Henry. Big Show makes his way staggering and stumbling to the ring and rolls in where the ref calls for the bell to officially start the match. Big Show limps around the ring while beating on Del Rio. Big Show grabs Del Rio for a chokeslam which Del Rio retaliates kicking Show's injured knee. Del Rio gets several kicks to the head of Big Show. Del Rio goes for the cover, Big Show kicks out powerfully. Del Rio then tries to apply the cross leg breaker on Big Show, but he makes his way to the rope to break the hold. The ref checks with Big Show to see if he can continue, Big Show says he's good to go, but as he tries to stand he falls back to the mat. He tries once again, to no avail as he falls once again. The ref calls for a match stoppage, declaring Del Rio the winner.
Rating: 3/5 - Got confused as to why Henry attacks Show. Maybe Del Rio paid him off? Anyways, glad this went to Del Rio, whatever way, he gets his pushes, then looses all momentum.

Wade Barrett vs Ezekiel Jackson
Both men make their way to the ring as their music sounds in the arena. The match is formally announced and the match begins. Lots of back and forth early on in the match. Barrett gets a Wasteland finisher on Ezekiel Jackson, Jackson is able to kickout. A "USA" chant break out in the audience. Jackson gets a few body slams on Barrett followed by a Torture Rack for the submission win.
Rating: 1.5/5 - Yawn. I didn't want Jackson to win, because it would've been better had Barrett kept it.

Rey Mysterio vs CM Punk
Both men make their way to the ring as their music and pyro goes off in the arena. The match is formally announced as the bell rings and the match begins. Punk takes the early lead in the match, head butting Mysterio in the stomach after wishing him a happy father's day. Mysterio tries to get a few moves in as Punk. Punk grabs Mysterio as he's trying to get to the top rope and side suplexed him from the top. Mysterio attempts a top rope splash, Punk is able to lift his knees for a good near fall. Punk then signals for a GTS. After much back and forth Punk once again goes for the GTS, but Mysterio flips him into the ropes. Mysterio tries to get a 619 on Punk who ducks and catches Mysterio on his shoulders. Punk gets the GTS this time for the pin and win.
Rating: 4/5 - Sounds like an all round decent match, with a great result as well.

Randy Orton vs Christian
Both men make their way to the ring for this World Title match. Tony Chimel handles the in-ring introductions as the bell rings and match begins. Orton superplexed Christian early on in the match. Christian gets back up and both men trade punches. Orton goes for the RKO but Christian is able to counter and attempts his own finisher to no avail. Orton gets Christian into an inverted body vice position and dropped down for a back breaker. Christian ges a Killswitch on Orton. Christian breaks out of a fulcrum kick in the corner and moments later Orton hits an RKO on Christian for the pin and win.
Rating: 3/5 - NOOOOOOOOOO! I want Christian to win so badly and he makes himself look so desperate for this, it kills me when he doesn't win.

Evan Bourne vs Jack Swagger
Swagger makes his way to the ring as his music sounds in the arena. Out next is Evan Bourne. After a short stare down in the ring, the match is formally announced, the bell rings and the match begins. Swagger takes the lead early on the match. Bourne is able to jump off the top rope and catch Swagger with a DDT on the way down. Bourne misses his finisher and avoids a suplex by Swagger. He then avoids an ankle lock and counters with a roll up for the pin.
Rating: 2/5 - Obvious filler, and very random.

R-Truth vs John Cena
R-Truth makes his way to the ring first as his music sounds in the arena. Out next is John Cena as the crowd begins to cheer and Cena walks down the ramp and into the ring. The match is formally announced, the bell rings and the match begins. Truth seems to be in control early in the match, much to the disliking of the crowd, though they don't seem too worried as Cena seemed ok. Cena starts making a comeback as Truth is playing to the crowd. Cena hits the Five Knuckle Shuffle and attempts an Attitude Adjustment that Truth is able to avoid and hit a jaw jacker. Cena retaliates with a STF but Truth reached the ropes in time to break the hold. Cena rolls out of the ring followed by R-Truth who is distracted by a fan in the crowd with a Cena hat on. Truth took the hat and put it on backwards and takes a sip of the fan's drink before handing it back to him. Cena is able to grab Truth and throw him back into the ring and hit him with the Attitude Adjustment once again, this time getting the pin and win.
Rating: 3/5 - Yeah, we knew it was gonna happen. I would've loved him to win it, would've been interesting to see tonight.

Well, there you go. Not the best PPV in my opinion, pretty terrible in many places.

Overall Rating: 2.5/5

I thought that it was a good show. The matches pretty much had all of the better outcomes. I only got two of my predictions wrong. Punk probably got his win as a way to convince him to stick around. Orton winning made sense and I only predicted against him winning as a result of not knowing how severe his condition was. As soon as he got cleared I changed my mind and thought he would win. It was good to see Bourne and Swagger make it onto the show because they have not done much lately. Why did Bourne win though? Swagger needs to get built up again.

Overall, one of the better shows of 2011 so far.

What were the thoughts on the hovering camera angle?? It seemed to only be used in dolph vs kofi noticeably...

I've seen it used in both roh and tna..

What are peoples thoughts on this camera angle??

I was wondering if anyone knew the names of two moves from the PPV and if anyone else has used them in the past or what not.

The first one was the back breaker/neck breaker thing orton did to christian

The second one was the back flip jaw breaker thing R-truth did to Cena

If anyone knows what I'm talking about I'd appreciate it

WWE Capitol Punishment 2011

Dolph Ziggler VS Kofi Kingston- US Championship

Dolph and Kofi delivered another fine match here. There was a lot good back and forth action here, and this match did feature some impressive counters. Although, the ending to this match was kind of weird. Vickie’s interference didn’t surprise me at all, because if she’s at ringside, then you know there’s a good chance she’s going to stick her nose where it doesn’t belong. Also, Dolph obviously used the ropes to gain leverage with the sleeper hold, but he wasn’t disqualified for this. Still, I thought this was a very entertaining match,. This was a great way to kick off the show, and I’m glad Dolph won the gold here. Ziggler’s Raw run hasn’t been that exciting, and I think he really needed this boost. Kofi should be fine, because he is always consistent, when it comes to delivering good or great matches. Match Rating: 8/10

The Miz VS Alex Riley

Miz dominated the bulk of this match, but Riley managed to strike back with some offense towards the end. I thought this was a pretty decent match, and I was surprised to see Riley walk away with the victory here. Cole wouldn’t stop kissing Miz’s ass on commentary as usual, but Riley decided to shut Cole’s big mouth, as he threw him over the announce table. I expected Miz to cheat, and he did try with the briefcase, but he was unsuccessful. This was the first match between these two, and I thought Miz would use some sort of sneaky trick to win this one. Riley gaining a win over Miz on a pay per view is a HUGE deal. This is the same guy who main evented Wrestlemania this year, and Miz is a former WWE Champion. There should be another match between these two, and I would like to see it. WWE obviously has big plans for Riley. I expect him to gain a spot in the Raw MITB Ladder match, and Riley’s huge push should continue. Match Rating: 6/10

Alberto Del Rio VS Big Show

I couldn’t get into this match. Show decided to hit Del Rio with a sneak attack before the match officially began, and then Mark Henry took his shot at some revenge for Show’s attack on the previous edition of Smackdown. Show tried to fight through the pain, but Del Rio targeted the “injured knee” throughout the entire match. Show had a few flashes of some offense, but it wasn’t enough in this one, and eventually, the pain of the injured knee was too much to overcome. I don’t think I would be too excited to see another Del Rio/Show match, because this encounter wasn’t something to remember. Match Rating: 3/10

Wade Barrett VS Ezekiel Jackson- Intercontinental Championship

Zeke winning the title here didn’t surprise me too much. WWE has given the big man a nice push, and you had to expect an IC title win pretty soon. The match here was decent enough. Zeke managed to wear Barrett down with his power moves (clotheslines, the series of body slams towards the end that setup the Torture Rack) and Barrett had his moments of control in this one. There was some hard hitting action here, and this match was pretty physical. Although, this match did have a sluggish pace, and there were times where it felt like the rhythm wasn’t there. Match Rating: 4/10

Rey Mysterio VS CM Punk

Punk and Mysterio are always capable of having a good or great match, and nothing changed here. There was some great back and forth action here, there were some creative counters in this match, and these two managed to maintain a nice and quick pace throughout this match. Punk and Mysterio have awesome chemistry, and they delivered another entertaining contest here. Mysterio should be fine after this match, because he is one of the more over faces in the WWE, so he won’t fade away into obscurity. Match Rating: 8/10

Randy Orton VS Christian- World Heavyweight Championship

Orton and Christian have delivered some fine matches this year, and I think their feud has been flying underneath the radar, especially when it comes to the wrestling. This match featured some nice back and forth action, and Orton was able to stagger his way through the concussion problems. Their first match on Smackdown was very impressive, and I don’t think this was as good as their match at Over The Limit, but this still was high quality stuff. Christian’s foot was underneath the ropes as Orton pinned him, so you just know this controversy is going to cause some trouble. I wouldn’t mind watching another match between Christian and Orton, because Christian’s heel turn has made this feud more interesting. Match Rating: 7/10

Jack Swagger VS Evan Bourne

Well, this was a bonus match, so I guess you couldn’t expect too much from this one. Swagger dominated the majority of the match, and Bourne finally started to show some life towards the end, as he used his quickness to outmaneuver Swagger. This match was quick, and Bourne managed to pull of the upset over the bigger man with a roll up. Match Rating: 4/10

President Obama

So the fake President Obama decides to give a speech. He wishes John Cena and R-Truth luck. The Obama look-a-like praises Teddy Long, and makes sure to take a shot at the real Obama as he does this. Booker T calls Obama in the ring. Booker praises Obama, and then he demonstrates the proper way to do a Spin-a-Roonie. Obama performs a Barack-a-Roonie.

Meh. I tried to laugh at this, but this segment didn‘t do it for me. I understand this pay per view is in Washington, and I know American pride is one of the themes, and Obama was shown in all of those mock press conferences, but this segment didn’t click with me. I wasn’t too crazy about the majority of the Obama mock press conferences, but all of them weren’t bad, and some of them were more entertaining than this segment.

John Cena VS R-Truth- WWE Championship

I was disappointed by this match. I wasn’t expecting anything great form this match, but I thought Truth VS Cena would be a solid main event. This match was boring, and this one did have a sluggish pace at times. One of the many Little Jimmies gave Cena an assist towards the end of this one, and I wasn’t too crazy about this. I know the Little Jimmies were the main targets of Truth’s heel promos, but did one of them really have to cost Truth the title? If this happened earlier in the match, then I would not have had a problem with the interference from the young fan. Seeing Truth receive a dose of his own medicine from one the fans he continues to taunt was a nice way of receiving payback, but this distraction allowed Cena to gain the upper hand, and this is something that drove men nuts, because I wish this match could’ve remained a one on one contest between Cena and Truth. Match Rating: 3/10

Overall Show Rating 6/10:
Capitol Punishment did feature some good wrestling matches, but overall, I wasn’t too crazy about this show. This pay per view just felt like another show, and this show didn’t have any epic moments. This was a forgettable pay per view, and I couldn’t get into the main event. Cena VS Truth had a great build, and Truth has done a fine job with his heel character, but the match here was very underwhelming.
