Now looking at the cards, both had its downsides, 2008 had Show/Khali which was just another monster match, and 2009 had more of the downsides I thinlk with the six-man tag team match for the WWE championship, something I haven't seen since King of the Ring 2000... and the Ms. WrestleMania match... However 2009 wins it for me!
Don't take it the wrong way, I mean I really enjoyed 2008 and thought it was a great ppv with Matt Hardy finally winning the US title, HBK/Batista, Taker/Edge and the fatal four way elimanation match, but IMO 2009 was better...Christian winning the ECW Championship, Jericho/Steamboat which was probably the best of the night with what I saw The Dragon do, The 'I Quit' match finally saw Jeff defeat Matt after his betrayal and the World Heavyweight title match was good aswell, I think what it was 2009 had much better and solid storylines and in this ppv, we saw feuds carry on and other pick up e.g. Big Show and Cena.. and the endings of each match was really good...

What would you say? 08 or 09??

Backlash 2009 was the best PPV of the year, Backlash 2008 was not.

There wasn't a bad match on last years show. Beth Phoenix vs. Santino only lasted for three seconds and the section before was worth watching purely for Jim Ross' reaction to the possibility of him kissing Santina.

Backlash 2009 was better and, for me, it's not even close. Backlash 2009 was a very good show whilst 2008 was average at best. The only thing that remotely stands out from Backlash 2008 is the main event and the end of the HBK-Batista match. In contrast, the only thing that didn't work for me at Backlash 2009 was CM Punk vs Kane. Like Jake said, even the Santina segment is worth a watch for JR's hilarious reaction. The rest of the matches were good and the Last Man Standing match was one of the best matches of the year. So, 2009 had the better Backlash.

Definitely Backlash '09 , i just enjoyed it much more than '08 , u had a great Last man Standing match and the six man tag for the wwe championship .

Backlash 2009 for me :)

I think Backlash 2008 was the greatest Backlash ever for rather biased reasons. EVERY outcome that I wanted to see going into that ppv ended up happening. Enery wrestler that I wanted to win, won. This was the first ppv in which I got literally EVERY outcome I wanted. And all matches were pretty good to me, except the divas match. Even Show/Khali exceded my expectations. A perfectally worked ppv IMO!

I didn't see Backlash 09, but from hearing results on Raw, it didn't sound like I missed anything special. It's just ridiculous when the WWE title gets put on the line in a 6-man tag. I guess that's why it has only been done twice(HHH lost the title in both instances) And I have heard that the match was terribly worked. I knew I was not ordering the ppv after this 6-man tag for the WWE title was announced. The outcome was too predictible- HHH gets punted in the and loses the belt to Orton-go figure! Plus BLash 09 featured Santino wrestling as "Miss Wrestlemania"; that's a point deduction right there.

Best ppv of the year I thought,Backlash 09' was better then Wrestlemania 25 if you take away Taker vs HBK.THa card was pretty stacked and it was the 1st ppv when all 3 world titles changed hands.and it didn't hurt that me and my lady had great seats I can see myself on the dvd.

I'm going with Backlash 09. Like many have said before there were hardly any bad matches on the card, it had some remembrable moments like Christian becoming ECW Champion, Jeff Hardy finally defeating his brother, and Big Show chokeslamming Cena through a spotlight. It can be considered to be the best PPV of 2009. While 2008 had Show/Khali, Kane/Chavo, the 12 diva's tag match, and 2009 main event was way better than 2008. I also consider 2009 as probably the best Backlash in history.
