Wrestling Games - Your personal history/opinions

Championship Contender
I have been playing wrestling games since I got WWF Superstars 2 on the gameboy many years ago. Over the years I have enjoyed each game and only really despised one, that game being WCW Backstage Assault. Anyway I would be interested in knowing how other wrestling fans view games of days gone by and games of recent years, your personal histories and facts and just random questions...

-What was the first wrestling game you ever played (did you play the game before watching wrestling on TV or play the game because of what you saw on TV)?

-What has been your favourite and worst wrestling game to date and why?

-Have you tended to play as any paticular wrestler more than others over the years and is this because they happen to be your favourite wrestler in real life or because you like/have got used to their in game movelist?

Now a few random question...

-Do you watch the entrances each time you have a match or turn them off after time?

-If you could include 5 things in the next WWE game that have not been included in games of the past what would they be?

-Does the way you like your pro wrestling in real life reflect how you play the games (as in if you are a fan of hardcore do you turn DQ off during singles matches, play more gimmick matches, cheat and got outside the ring whenever you can..if you like technical wrestling do you tend to stay in the ring during gameplay and wear wrestlers down with move after move etc..)

-What 5 wrestlers (Tag Teams count as one wrestler) would you like in a game that have never been included or not been in a WWE game for any years?

That will do for now...If you would like to add any questions in your posts for others to answer, go ahead.

-What was the first wrestling game you ever played (did you play the game before watching wrestling on TV or play the game because of what you saw on TV)?
The first Wrestling game I ever played as I mentioned in my original post was WWF Superstars 2 on the old Gameboy. It had a roster of 6 which was made up of Hulk Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage, The Undertaker, Jake The Snake, Sid Vicious and The Mountie. I got it after seeing Summerslam 1992 and even though it had limited matches and moves I played it non stop. It did include a Cage match which I had only ever seen one of in real life (Hulk Hogan Vs Andre The Giant).

-What has been your favourite and worst wrestling game to date and why?
My favourite is tough because it is out of a few. I have yet to check out the Fire Pro series (can never find them anywhere), I have heard good things but my personal favourite is Wrestlemania 2000. No Mercy is the better improved version but for me Wrestlemania 2000 beats it on personal reasoning. I think because when No Mercy came out I got WWF Smackdown at the same time so I played both but Wrestlmania 2000..I just played it and played it all the time. My worst game is a lot easier to decide because hands down it is WCW Backstage Assault..the only wrestling game I have ever taken back to the shop.

-Have you tended to play as any paticular wrestler more than others over the years and is this because they happen to be your favourite wrestler in real life or because you like/have got used to their in game movelist?
If he is in the game (if it's WWE he always has been in any game I have played) I will be The Undertaker. I guess it is because he is my favourite wrestler in real life but I also really like his movelist in the games. Stone Cold is sombody else I play as a lot because I love giving people the Stone Cold Stunner. Other wrestlers I like playing as If they are included in the game are Goldust, Cactus Jack and the Legion of Doom.

-Do you watch the entrances each time you have a match or turn them off after time?
I personally watch all entrances at first at least once but then mostly skip them or turn them off. I used to watch them pretty much all the time when I was younger or if I am creating my own PPV's in games.

-If you could include 5 things in the next WWE game that have not been included in games of the past what would they be?
. I have always wanted them to add a bag of pins somehow so I can really recreate the hardcore legend Mick Foley/Cactus Jack's sadistic side in the ring. It would be cool to be able to pull a bag out from under the rind and have an animation showing the wrestler throwing the pins over the ring...meaning you get more damage if you land on them.
. This one is cheating because it has been included but not for a while in WWE games...I loved the fact that you could edit the existing rosters attire in Wrestlemania 2000. It meant that if the wrestler changed in real life or joined a stable you could do this instantly in the game.
. I would love them to include a Dumpster Match. We have had Buried Alive and Casket matches and this would pretty much be the same concept except I want Tag Team Dumpster matches.
Can not think of anything else right now.

This question is stupid but it is the reason I made this thread. I was playing Here Comes The Pain earlier and after playing through a few matches in season mode I started thinking that in any other video game I want to explore as much of the screen as possible but during one on one wrestling games I tend to stick to the rules andhave no urge to go outside unless I really can't get the pin and need the help of a Chair. I do prefer playing Hardcore style matches if I am choosing the match but if it's set up by the game and it's not Hardcore..I will stick to the rules. Even though in real life I am more into Hardcore wrestling style fights.

-What 5 wrestlers (Tag Teams count as one wrestler) would you like in a game that have never been included or not been in a WWE game for many years?
. Papa Shango hasnot been included for some time
. New Age Outlaws (in a modern WWE game)
I will add the rest later.

-What was the first wrestling game you ever played (did you play the game before watching wrestling on TV or play the game because of what you saw on TV)?
My first game was WWF In Your House. I originally wanted to get the WWF Raw game after seeing my brother play it with his friends one day, but my mom would never let me play it because it wasn't "right for kids my age". Instead, she waited until the next WWF game, In Your House, to come out because she heard that it was an okay game for kids. And boy did I love playing in the Dungeon in that game?

-What has been your favourite and worst wrestling game to date and why?
My favorite game, would have to be WCW vs. NWO Revenge. Many people will probably say Here Comes the Pain or No Mercy, but those games were a load of shit... even when I played them. In fact, Here Comes the Pain is by far the worst game I've ever played. The only good thing was a decent sized roster, which you can't really count as a good thing because the rankings were so discombobulated that you couldn't be anyone else but Brock Lesnar or Goldberg.

-Have you tended to play as any paticular wrestler more than others over the years and is this because they happen to be your favourite wrestler in real life or because you like/have got used to their in game movelist?
I've been using Edge in wrestling games since WrestleMania 2000. Really, it started as a bet between my brother and I to see who could use a tag team wrestler as a solo wrestler the best. He picked Jeff Hardy and I picked Edge. Of course, with him using those stupid game shark cheat codes and shit like that, he won the bet... but I still found Edge to be an easy use, and every game after that, he just kept being the guy I would use most. In fact, he's Undisputed Champion in my current 2011 Universe Mode :icon_mrgreen:

First Wrestling Game Experience - I'm not too sure of the date but the first game I would of played would of been Smackdown around a mates house.

Fav game - Smackdown - Here Comes The Pain - Probably would have to be this one, certainly my most played of all time I would say. :worship:

Less fav Wrestling game memoraries - TNA Impact, wasted opportunity there :banghead:

Entrance use - Depends I would normally watch mine but skip the others inless it was an entrance I like on the game ie HHH or Taker or when it was a big match like a title main event where I would be defending :p On the older games with the not so good graphics or on front on the titanron video I would tend to skip them.

Most used wrestler - My top three would probably be Shawn Micheals, Randy Orton and Christian around all the games. Shawn Micheals especially on Know Your Role and Here Comes The Pain.

Wrestlers I would like to see on a game soon -
Ken Shamrock
Scott Hall
Owen Hart
Goldberg

What was the first wrestling game you ever played (did you play the game before watching wrestling on TV or play the game because of what you saw on TV)?
My first wrestling game was WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role, I would have gotten the previous year's for christmas but my folks didn't let me get the Playstation because I had a N64 and they said that I didn't need two game consoles. I played this game long after watching wrestling, I probably wouldn't have gotten it had I not been a wrestling fan.

What has been your favourite and worst wrestling game to date and why?
Least favorite goes to TNA Impact!, that game was all kinds of shitty. I almost bought it but fortunatly my friend told me not to get it because it wasn't great, played it at a friend's house right after that and was relieved that I didn't buy it because it was pretty horrible.
Favorite game without a doubt is Smackdown vs Raw 2010, since I got it the week it came out I have played it more than any other game that I own. I've done everything there is to do, I've made CAW's of wrestlers that are absolutely perfect including their movesets and entrances and I can honestly say I never get tired of it.

Have you tended to play as any paticular wrestler more than others over the years and is this because they happen to be your favourite wrestler in real life or because you like/have got used to their in game movelist?
Gosh that one changes so much for me, I used to play as two people pretty much all the time, Randy Orton and Chris Jericho. But I mix things up alot more these days, recently I've played with alot of recent CAWs like Wade Barrett and AJ Styles. I find that the guys I enjoy playing as the most are the ones that you see throw a punch or do a running move and you instantly think, "man that looks just like how he'd do it in real life". My favorite non CAW to play with to this day though is Chris Jericho just because he can pretty much do everything in SD vs Raw, and on top of that he's fast and he's my favorite wrestler of all time.

Do you watch the entrances each time you have a match or turn them off after time?
It really just depends on the mood I'm in and who I'm playing with, sometimes if I'm really getting into the game I'll watch the entrances to get a feel of realism from it, most of the time I just want to get to playing. I tend to watch entrances more when they're ones I've made for my CAWs because then I can marvel at my handy work. Also if I'm playing with a friend I'll usually watch them until they ask if we can skip it, I love it when they want to watch it though because it feels like they're really into it as well and that makes me happy.

If you could include 5 things in the next WWE game that have not been included in games of the past what would they be?
1) The ability to full on leave the arena, when I'm getting counted out for fun I always back up the ramp looking at the ring so it's realistic, but I always wanted to be able to go back stage from the ramp so it could be realistic.
2) Have Divas face Superstars, I know it's stupid but who hasn't played a wrestling game and thought while looking at the roster, "Lets do Kelly Kelly, against.....Taker!".
3) Have the ability to play a 6 Pack Challenge match, I know you can do other 6 man matches that are basically the same thing but I want the option just for the hell of it.
4) Being able to win a match by making your opponent bleed too much, ever since Edge beat the fuck out of Matt Hardy and opened such a big cut on him they had to stop, I've wanted to be able to do it in a video game.
5)To be able to throw someone from the top of the cell in a Hell In A Cell match and have them fall onto the announce table just like Foley-Taker.

Does the way you like your pro wrestling in real life reflect how you play the games (as in if you are a fan of hardcore do you turn DQ off during singles matches, play more gimmick matches, cheat and got outside the ring whenever you can..if you like technical wrestling do you tend to stay in the ring during gameplay and wear wrestlers down with move after move etc..)
I suppose it does, I play these games so much that I like to mix things up alot. Sometimes I'll set DQ off so that I can just beat the fuck out of my opponent, other times I'll try to be sneaky and hit em while the ref isnt looking with DQ on, it totally depends on my mood and if I want to really try to win a match with a bunch of rules or just go in and raise some hell.

What 5 wrestlers (Tag Teams count as one wrestler) would you like in a game that have never been included or not been in a WWE game for many years?
I would have to say Chris Benoit, Randy Savage, Rick Rude, Jake The Snake Roberts, Sting, and last but not least I have to throw in one more, Beer Money.

What was the first wrestling game you ever played (did you play the game before watching wrestling on TV or play the game because of what you saw on TV)?

WWF Raw, for Super Nintendo, was the first wrestling game I have ever played. I got it after I watched WWE, I was probably 5 or 6 at the time, I cant remember what year it came out.

What has been your favourite and worst wrestling game to date and why?
My favorite would be Smackdown vs Raw 2007 or pretty much any game with GM Mode in it. That is by far my favorite game type in any wrestling game, so much fun. Now for the worst I would have to choose any WCW game. I cant stand those games and buying one was a complete waste of money.

Have you tended to play as any paticular wrestler more than others over the years and is this because they happen to be your favourite wrestler in real life or because you like/have got used to their in game movelist?

I did when i was little, in the RAW game i always chose HBK, now I basically use everyone, and have no specific wrestler that i use. I did however choose HBK in Raw because he was my favorite wrestler at that time though.

Do you watch the entrances each time you have a match or turn them off after time?
Yeah I tend to watch them, at least for the most part. It really depends on my mood.

If you could include 5 things in the next WWE game that have not been included in games of the past what would they be?

1. More weapons to choose from
2. An actual realistic GM mode, like if you have two good wrestlers in a match, like HBK vs Benoit, the match should be four stars instead of the 1.5 stars it was getting haha.
3. Actually have them at least attempt to pronounce your name, instead of just having the nicknames like "the champ" "the demon" and so on and so on
4. I basically dont have any more due to the fact that anything i really wanted in a wwe game, it will be in this years WWE 12', I had to really think hard for the above three lol

Does the way you like your pro wrestling in real life reflect how you play the games (as in if you are a fan of hardcore do you turn DQ off during singles matches, play more gimmick matches, cheat and got outside the ring whenever you can..if you like technical wrestling do you tend to stay in the ring during gameplay and wear wrestlers down with move after move etc..)

it really depends on how i am feeling at the moment. Sometimes I go straight for the ring bell or chair, other times i like to just do some moves and get the match done and over with. Plus it also had to deal with who i am facing and what difficulty i have it set on as well.

What 5 wrestlers (Tag Teams count as one wrestler) would you like in a game that have never been included or not been in a WWE game for many years?
1. Xpac - I always have liked his wrestling style and the way his moveset was. Maybe have him come back as Xpac and have an alternate attire as 1-2-3 kid that would be cool
2. Scott Hall - Always liked him as razor ramon, so having him back in the game would be pretty sweet.
3. Too Cool - I liked them because they always entertained me, and to have them back in it would be awesome.
4. The Dudley Boys - one of the best and one of my favorite tag teams and to have them back in a WWE game would be fantastic and could really help the tag team division.
5. The Usos - They have been in the WWE for a little while but should have deffinitly made the cut for WWE 12' but they arent going to be in it, they should have made the cut for last years game too but for some reason they dont want them in the game.. I mean alica fox is in the game but they cant put the Usos? doesnt make sense.

What was the first wrestling game you ever played (did you play the game before watching wrestling on TV or play the game because of what you saw on TV)?

The first one I ever played was WWF Warzone on the original PlayStation, it was ok but I remember finding the controls very complicated. I created a CAW called Fatboy and I couldn't believe when Shane McMahon on commentary actually called him Fatboy!

The first one I bought was WWF Smackdown! for the PlayStation. I loved it, and although the CAW function was very limited, I played it for hours and hours. I usually play the Smackdown games up until the night before the new one is released. I can remember playing as The Rock and turning off pinfalls so I could win by KO after a Peoples Elbow.

What has been your favourite and worst wrestling game to date and why?

I definitely think Shut Your Mouth and Here Comes The Pain are my favourites. I played it every night after high school, and had loads of notebooks filled with matches, storylines, promos and PPVs that I wrote down. I was obsessed with the games. I must have spent stupid amount of hours, like 3 hours a day on this game. It had the best roster of any SD game up until maybe this years one.

The worst is WCW Backstage Assault. When you could already fight backstage as a feaute on WWF games, did WCW make an entire game based on backstage matches, with a terrible CAW function, crap graphics...it was a horrible game.

Have you tended to play as any paticular wrestler more than others over the years and is this because they happen to be your favourite wrestler in real life or because you like/have got used to their in game movelist?

I most often play as "The Natural" Nathan Reso, my own CAW. I have created him in every single SmackDown game, and he always has the Implant DDT as a finisher. However, I also used Kurt Angle alot, Triple H and alot of my cruiserweight CAWs like Kid Kash, Rey Mysterio and Juventud Guerrera. Also in the more recent WWE games that had the ECW arena I used alot of the ex-ECW wrestlers like Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero and many ECW CAWs like Raven, Dreamer and Corino.

Do you watch the entrances each time you have a match or turn them off after time?

It depends. I like watching them if I am playing a storyline out in my head, as I often commentate on the matches as I am playing (I do this on football games too, always have). It makes me enjoy the game more and feel that its more realistic. Plus, if I have uploaded music to the X-Box harddrive for the CAW to use, its pretty cool seeing them come out with it. I love my CAW of Kurt Angle for SDvsRaw 2011 come out to his TNA theme, Sabu come out to his classic ECW music, Raven use his WCW "Nevermore" theme and Scott Hall/Kevin Nash come out in the nWo black and white colours to their Wolfpac theme.

If you could include 5 things in the next WWE game that have not been included in games of the past what would they be?
1.) The Time Limit Hardcore title matches, I loved them. It was always easier to get pinned in those matches and the title changed hands so much. It was awesome.

2. Title Histories. I like seeing who had the belt in the past, its kinda like a history of my Smackdown gaming for that year. It wouldnt take up much memory so it should be added.

3. More weapons under the ring. I want to be able to get pretty much anything out at any time.
4. Being able to fight backstage in normal matches. This was on some of the earlier smackdown games where you can go room-to room, so on the next-gen consoles it should be on too.

5. Being able to throw people off the stage. It was a classic Attitude Era thing feature of WWE programming, and I want to be able to do it in the game. Launching someone off the stage with a chokeslam or german suplex would be sweet.

Not really. I use a variety of matches, both with and without DQ. It depends on the storylines I am playing out in my head as I play the game. However, I love the original ECW so I do have alot of Extreme rule matches.

What 5 wrestlers (Tag Teams count as one wrestler) would you like in a game that have never been included or not been in a WWE game for many years?

1. ECW era Raven
2. Ken Shamrock
3. Scott Steiner
4. Goldberg
5. AJ Styles

First Wrestling Game:

"Pro Wrestling" for the 8-bit NES. It was very difficult because the play control was pretty sluggish. I liked wrestling as Star Man, a masked luchador from Mexico whose outfit was almost completely pink. I would hate the game now, but I loved it back in the day.

Favorite Wrestling Game:

"Shut Your Mouth." I liked being able to roam around the arena and there was a really solid roster. I also like the GM modes in the Raw vs. Smackdown games.

Wrestling Game I Hate:

"Raw Is War" for the Nintendo 64. The play control and hit detection were piss-poor.

Most Used Wrestler:

Bret Hart, because he's my favorite wrestler. I also play a lot as my created superstars. My favorite created character's name is "Lascivious" Louie Lewis.

Entrances:

I usually watch them. I ALWAYS watch Melina's entrance, the greatest diva entrance of all time. I just imagine...... uhh, never mind.

Five Things I'd Like To See In A Wrestling Game:

1.) Old-school PPV ring aprons.

2.) The ability to have 8 wrestlers at ringside instead of six.

3.) A Strap Match or 4 Corners Match.

4.) The ability to fight anywhere in the arena.

5.) The ability to collapse the ring and continue fighting.

Favorite kinds of matches:

Hell in a Cell. I still get a rush from tombstoning someone through the top of the Cell, down into the ring.

Wrestlers I'd like to see included or included more:

- Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake

- Razor Ramone

- Haku

- Tatanka

- Earthquake

Great thread!

-What was the first wrestling game you ever played (did you play the game before watching wrestling on TV or play the game because of what you saw on TV)?

The first Wrestling game I ever played was pro wrestling on the NES. I was watching wrestling before I played it but I still have fond memories of playing it. A winner is you indeed!

-What has been your favourite and worst wrestling game to date and why?

Worst - Easily WCW backstage assault. This game sums up WCW in the year 2000, pure garbage and an absolute abomination, the 20 minutes I played this game is 20 minutes I will never get back.

Best - Fire Pro Wrestling Returns. This game is one that most can give or take but I have never had as much fun playing a wrestling game than this one. In my opinion this game captures an actual wrestling match better than any game I've ever played. The vast array of moves and customization available, the pacing, watching your characters slowly get tired and fatigue and who doesn't like the ability to stab your opponent with a fork or play in a barbwire C4 death match. It takes a while to get used to but when you do it becomes unbelievably addicting and the amount of wrestlers and content in every game is always impressive.

-Have you tended to play as any paticular wrestler more than others over the years and is this because they happen to be your favourite wrestler in real life or because you like/have got used to their in game movelist?

I always liked to play as Stan Hansen or Vader in the Fire Pro Wrestling series. Those are 2 of my favorite wrestlers and I always have to play as them not only because I'm a fan but because they are awesome to play as in the Fire Pro Wrestling games.

If I'm playing Smackdown vs. Raw I will almost always use legends more than anyone else. I usually rotate between as many legends as I can because those were the wrestlers I remember most fondly.

-Do you watch the entrances each time you have a match or turn them off after time?

It depends on my mood but general rule of thumb I will turn them off after watching them once. Usually I'm impatient and just want to play the game.

-If you could include 5 things in the next WWE game that have not been included in games of the past what would they be?

1) War games
2) Ability to have 2 or 3 rings in an arena for 1 match (like War games or World War 3)
3) Create a promotion
4) More in depth fighting in the crowd as in being able to fight all over the crowd and the arena without no load times, just a smooth transition between all areas. Basically load the whole environment at once (like GTA or something) and have the ability to go anywhere.
5) Better collision detecting with weapons and environment. So the ability to throw an opponent through a window pane or wall without it looking cheesy as shit.

-Does the way you like your pro wrestling in real life reflect how you play the games (as in if y cou are a fan of hardcore do you turn DQ off during singles matches, play more gimmick matches, heat and got outside the ring whenever you can..if you like technical wrestling do you tend to stay in the ring during gameplay and wear wrestlers down with move after move etc..)

Not at all if anything its the opposite for me. For example in real life a like a traditional match with great story telling. In video games I like carnage and doing every little thing you can in a match whether its using the table, running people over with forklifts, throwing wrestlers off high objects or whatever. I like to explore in games and find every little thing that can be done.

-What 5 wrestlers (Tag Teams count as one wrestler) would you like in a game that have never been included or not been in a WWE game for any years?

1) Demolition (yes they're in WWE 12 but its the first time since Wrestlefest from what I remember I can play as these guys)
2) The Ultimate Warrior (I would love to see him in an actual Smackdown vs Raw game not Legends or Wrestlemania (which sucked) or WWE All stars)
3) Macho Man (See ultimate warrior and I heard he's in WWE 12 as well. Damn that has most of my favorites already.)
4) Yokozuna (see the last 2)
5) King Kong Bundy (this guy was a destroyer and it would be loads of fun to flatten some newer guys like Ryder or R-Truth).

You were in high school and writing your own fantasy storylines? LOL

What was the first wrestling game you ever played (did you play the game before watching wrestling on TV or play the game because of what you saw on TV)?

Tie: Wrestlemania and Pro Wrestling for the NES. I think I actually bought these two games on the same day. I bought the games because I watched it on TV.

What has been your favourite and worst wrestling game to date and why?

Favorite: WWF No Mercy for the N64. This is quite simply the greatest wrestling video game of all time. Between the extensive CAW system, the movesets, ease of controls and the multiple storylines unique to each belt, this game had it all!

Worst: Wrestlemania XIX for the Gamecube. The gameplay was actually pretty good...but the deal breaker is Revenge mode...the storyline is that you get fired by Vince and have to ruin Wrestlemania by destroying WWE property, assaulting wrestlers, etc. It was-refucking-diculous.

Have you tended to play as any paticular wrestler more than others over the years and is this because they happen to be your favourite wrestler in real life or because you like/have got used to their in game movelist?

Uh...yes? I hesitate, because its not a wrestler that has been normally part of the roster set. I tend to recreate the same CAWs in each wrestling game I own, and try to duplicate their moveset as best as the game allows. Any wrestling game I own will have a Randy Savage CAW, guaranteed, and usually a Hulk Hogan and Ricky Steamboat, for the games that don't include them. If you mean non-CAWs, I love playing as Shawn Michaels, both because of the character, and because Sweet Chin Music is usually ridiculously easy to set up.

Do you watch the entrances each time you have a match or turn them off after time?

I watch them once, then turn them off. After a while, you just get sick of watching them, especially when you are going to be playing the game for hours at a time. You don't need to see HBK's entrance 20 times in 2 hours.

If you could include 5 things in the next WWE game that have not been included in games of the past what would they be?

1. Bring back create-a-belt mode (yes, its been done, but they removed it)
2. Allow customization of built in wrestlers. Not to change them entirely, but to be able to adjust their wardrobe in case they change in real life, change hairstyles, etc. I don't care if I can't change their face or body type, but wrestlers get haircuts and change their ring gear, dammit!
3. Import custom music. IE, if you have a flash drive with a ton of MP3/WMAs on it, you should be able to select one of those tunes as custom entrance music, as long as the flash drive is plugged in.
4. Better customization in CAW. While I blasted Wrestlemania XIX's revenge mode and listed as the worst wrestling game I ever played, it did have one supremely awesome feature. It allowed you to design your own shapes, images for your CAW. Want to create a Batman CAW? Want to get that Ultimate Warrior logo just right? You could draw the actual bat symbol or Warrior shape in a mini-paint program, rather than try to fudge it by combining different shapes in creative ways. Or maybe that was Wrestlemania X8. Either way, it's the feature that's important, not the game.
5. More realistic Rumbles. The WWE doesn't only allow 6 wrestlers in the ring at a time. I understand that there are certain game limitations involved, in terms of CPU power and artificial AI. But c'mon. 6?

Does the way you like your pro wrestling in real life reflect how you play the games (as in if you are a fan of hardcore do you turn DQ off during singles matches, play more gimmick matches, cheat and got outside the ring whenever you can..if you like technical wrestling do you tend to stay in the ring during gameplay and wear wrestlers down with move after move etc..)

Yes, actually. I prefer good, solid mat wrestling over brawling. When I am in video game mode, I am a total submissions wrestler. I almost never go for the pin, I love to make my opponent tap out...and I tend to like real life wrestlers that have deep movesets and strong submissions.

What 5 wrestlers (Tag Teams count as one wrestler) would you like in a game that have never been included or not been in a WWE game for any years?

Let me preface this by saying that some of the wrestlers listed may have been included at various times, but not with any kind of regularity. I don't own every game, and do not know exactly who is in what game. They would all qualify as "80s Legends", and would be part of a territorial legacy, given the vast wrestling library the WWE owns (ie, they won't all be WWF/E stars).

1. The Road Warriors/Legion of Doom. Would love to see Animal and Hawk officially, so they can destroy video game tag team divisions as easily as they did it in real life.
2. The Von Erichs. I have a bit of a soft spot for WCCW.
3. If I am going to list the Von Erichs, I am also obligated to list the Fabulous Freebirds as well. Can't have one without the other.
4. Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff. As a team, so I don't have to use two spaces up.
5. Rowdy Roddy Piper. He has been in WWE games before...but he needs to be a permanent legend, appearing in every WWE game that uses legends as hidden characters.

What was the first wrestling game you ever played (did you play the game before watching wrestling on TV or play the game because of what you saw on TV)?

I remember this one distinctively. WWF War Zone on the PS1. I remember playing with my brother and cousin in Cage Matches and I always used Stone Cold Steve Austin to whip HBK's ass lol. I was a BIG wrestling fan before this game and I think to date it was the first game I ever played. I mainly bought it to play as Stone Cold. The first match I did was Stone Cold vs Goldust just to screw around.

-What has been your favourite and worst wrestling game to date and why?

Favorite game is SmackDown Just Bring It without even thinking twice. The roster was stacked, the gameplay was much more fun and fast paced, and the commentary had me dying. Every time Tazz would say "Angry Stomp" I had to pause the game cause I'd lose it. I remember playing this every morning during the summer. What made it better IMO, is they 8 Man Tag Team Matches. You don't see that anymore.

I can't think of a Worst game, but one that I don't like playing that much is SVR 2006 for ONE reason. You could not have a simple tag team match. The CPU would always leave the ring and half the match would take place outside. I remember one match I had. I had Rock and Foley against Orton, Batista and Flair. The minute the bell rang, Orton left the ring and stood there. He'd walk around the outside and waited until I came out and then Batista and Flair jumped me. A good 10 minutes were spent outside until we finally went back in the ring. Then Orton tags Flair in and he'd leave the ring. It's like we never spent any time in the ring. I had to do Tornado Tags cause it was really getting to me. The soundtrack is the only thing that keeps me coming back.

-Have you tended to play as any paticular wrestler more than others over the years and is this because they happen to be your favourite wrestler in real life or because you like/have got used to their in game movelist?

I used to. Back in the day I used always use Stone Cold, Kurt Angle, The Rock, Triple H, and Undertaker or Kane just to manhandle people. Now, I just use whoever. These days, I'll cycle through using Y2J, Punk, Orton, Cena, Undertaker, Mysterio, Morrison, whoever.

-Do you watch the entrances each time you have a match or turn them off after time?

For new games, I'd watch the entrances one time to see how they look in person rather than Youtube or whatever.

Unless they're a CAW, then I don't really watch superstar entrances unless I REALLY like the theme music. I always use to love hearing Kurt's Theme, so I'd let it play. Same goes with Triple H and Stone Cold.

I like watching CAW entrances cause it's pretty cool seeing what you made come out and look so boss.

But if it's a Pay-Per-View, I might play the entrances to entertain myself.

-If you could include 5 things in the next WWE game that have not been included in games of the past what would they be?

1) Someone brought it up, but The Hardcore Time Limit matches. That used to be so much fun. Even though I'd lose most of the time. Just beating people up for 15 minutes with shopping carts and running them over with Motorcycles, or dropping crates on their heads, or whatever. It just made it a lot of fun. I used to love kicking back and watching the CPU go at it. OMG, I have never laughed so hard in my life at the things I would see.

2) 8 Man Tag Team Matches. Just Bring It had and ever since then, they just dropped it. 8 Men in one ring would bring so much chaos and mayhem. I loved it. Especially those 8 Man Survival Matches.

3) The Royal Rumble needs to be fixed. I like what they've done this past game, where you have to button mash different buttons to eliminate someone. I HATED the ring out bars. The CPU loved to NOT mind its own business. As soon as I was thrown over the top rope, the CPU would wait there for someone to start eliminating me, then he'd come over and join in and Bam, I'm gone. That whole thing just needs to be fixed. I like how in No Mercy 2000, you could eliminate by pinfall only. You could fight outside the ring and not give a damn cause Elimination was by pinfall.

4) GM Mode. GM Mode hasn't been GM Mode since SVR 2008. I'm talking about GM Mode, not WWE Universe. Choosing a brand, picking your own superstars, and battling it out for ratings. And if they ever legit bring back GM Mode, PLEASE fix that too. I would have a Fatal 4 Way Cage match as my Main Event and I'd lose the week to a show that had Mickie James vs Great Khali as the Main Event. But that's a gripe for another day I suppose.

5) More CAW Customization. More movesets, more attributes, and overall more stuff

Oh I'm a fan of the Hardcore style action. I would play Hell in a Cell and Hardcore Time Limit, Tables Matches, Money in the Bank, Elimination Chamber, etc.. all day, but I'd also mix it up and love playing 6 Man Tag Team Matches. I'll still go one on one with some matches, but I hate losing, so I'd find myself really on the offensive and with other matches, I can just have fun no matter what happens.

-What 5 wrestlers (Tag Teams count as one wrestler) would you like in a game that have never been included or not been in a WWE game for many years?

1) Money Inc.

2) Macho Man

3) The Steiners

4) Lex Luger/Jake The Snake Roberts (Couldn't choose)

5) Mr. Perfect

What was the first wrestling game you ever played (did you play the game before watching wrestling on TV or play the game because of what you saw on TV)?

I think the first game I ever played was the WWF Superstars game in arcades. I really don't remember clearly, but i think i was playing wwf games in the arcade before they were out on home systems. Those of you who don't know or remember arcades... i hate you!

-What has been your favourite and worst wrestling game to date and why?

Two favorites, Wrestlefest and the original WCW game. I had some wars on that WCW game trying to beat it (never did unfortunately) but it was a great game with an awesome roster. Wrestlefest is one I wish i could have played at home at some point, I loved that game and spent many many quarters on it. Lot of good memories with that one.

The worst was that WWF Arcade game (the one where guys are doing fire balls and shit).

-Have you tended to play as any paticular wrestler more than others over the years and is this because they happen to be your favourite wrestler in real life or because you like/have got used to their in game movelist?

I used to always play with Hogan originally and then Bret as they were my favorites, and Sting.. though I stopped using Bret in Smackdown when they gave him that stupid spin kick, it drives me insane bc i like to keep some sense of realism when playing the games.

-Do you watch the entrances each time you have a match or turn them off after time?

I watch them at least the first time, then i start skipping them unless I really want to hear a theme song.

-If you could include 5 things in the next WWE game that have not been included in games of the past what would they be?

I would incorporate the concepts the WWE owns but doesn't put on tv... besides nitro I'd want Halloween Havoc and Starrcade etc. Every WCW ppv should have an arena.

I'd also like more match types like War Games and Punjabi Prison and the Triple Cage from WCW etc. Maybe even a four corners match

Can't think of others just yet, but there are other things I'd add that haven't been done yet.

I try to keep the matches as realistic as possible. While I like seeing crazy shit in real life, unless it's something that can be done in real life by that person I don't like seeing it in the game.

-What 5 wrestlers (Tag Teams count as one wrestler) would you like in a game that have never been included or not been in a WWE game for many years?

Macho Man again

Powers of Pain

Haku

Nasty Boyz

New Age Outlawz again

I think it was WCW World Tour, and I was definitely a fan of what I saw on TV before playing the game. That's probably what got me to play the game.

What has been your favourite and worst wrestling game to date and why?
I still maintain that WWF No Mercy is the best wrestling game ever made, even today. The system of offense and defense/counters that AKI came up with was perfected by that point, and creation tools were pretty good, especially for the time. As far as worst, I remember playing Raw for Xbox a little after it came out. Not fun.

Have you tended to play as any paticular wrestler more than others over the years and is this because they happen to be your favourite wrestler in real life or because you like/have got used to their in game movelist?
I never really played as one guy in particular, but I always favored high-flyers because of their cool-ass moves.

Do you watch the entrances each time you have a match or turn them off after time?
I usually watch them once or twice, but after that they're just annoying.

No, I typically just play around with crazy match types in the games, while I prefer regular singles matches in real life.

Lotta love for the AKI/THQ games on the N64, rarely played as the characters in the game, I used to make 7'11" giants that did cartwheels and mad planchas.
