WrestleZone Fantasy Baseball League

5x5 might just be enough so we don't get too many to track.

Wins
Saves
IP
K's
Total ER (lower wins)
Runs
SB
HR
RBI
Hits

This is prefect

As for time between draft picks I think it really matters how many teams we end up with & how many rounds we have in the draft, min. 7 a half to two mins. works for me, making each pick much longer than that is just gonna take forever & drag on.

Man 5x5 is so fucking lame. Baseball is fucking built on statistics, especially in the modern era; I'm not saying you gotta go twenty, but we can do better then 10.

Also, 2.5 minutes if far too long, especially when people don't show up, or leave half way through and you have to wait 2.5 minutes for multiple people every round; it really slows down the draft to an almost unbearable pace. 1.5 is really more than enough time, especially since you get all that time in between picks to make up your mind.

You could add K's for Batter and BB's for pitchers, but I don't like averages being put in like ERA/BA/SLG. Don't know why, just doesn't tickle me pink.

I'm not a fucking statistician, I have zero interest in keeping track of a bunch of meaninglessness numbers. You want to add a bunch of stupid ridiculous scoring categories fine, I just take my team out & start my own 5x5 league, last years league felt more like work than fun, & half the people involved stop giving a shit 3 weeks in.

I support the 14 team league and moving the draft to a Sunday. All is good.

What do we think of Quality Starts as a scoring category? I have no strong leanings one way or another, but I thought I'd toss it out for discussion.

Don't like it. I don't know what a Quality Start is, and it seems like it'd be a hard one to track.

Since IP and ERA's on there I think it'd be somewhat redundant.

Sundays work for this guy as well.

IP isn't a stat we're using for scoring. I'm not a fan of it, because boosting it would be pretty easy: just pick up a bunch of starters regardless of how good they are.

That's why I picked 12. We're better than the standard, right? Besides, only throwing a couple extra stats in there allows the fantasy junkies to feed their love of stats without putting the casual players at a severe disadvantage.

I understand Harthan's concern. He seems to be really excited about doing the live draft and wants to make all his picks count. How does 2 minutes sound to everyone?

I like K's for batters, as it punishes people who would start multiple big strikeout guys like Adam Dunn or Ryan Howard.

Dude, it's fantasy baseball, that's the whole point. I'm not going to add any stats that are things that only statisticians and hardcore baseball care about, but adding two more simple stats would make everything a little more fun.

So just to be clear, how would everyone feel about replace triples with strikeouts? And should I leave the pitching stat as BBs, or change it to something else?

I like 2 minutes and strikeouts for batters. Did you mean walks for pitchers? I do like that as well, if you meant that instead of balls.

Strikeouts is interesting. I'm a little more in favor of SLG or OPS but Ks could be interesting. It would make a lot of players substantially more valuable. Much to Stormtrooper's ire, it would probably make Pedroia crazy valuable.

Walks is fine for me on pitching if we want to keep fancy stats to a minimum. Holds or quality starts could be used if we're interested in weighting more toward SP or RP.

But, I'd be fine with Ks for batters and walks for pitchers.

BBs is something that is of value to both starters and relievers. While starters have more of an opportunity opportunity to walk batters, there are plenty of relievers that are going to tack on walks in the bunches at the end of games. I can't tell you how many time Frankie Rodriguez filled the bases with walks when he was on the Mets.

6 IP + 3 ER or less.

Yes but that's only one category and if you have a bunch of innings eaters your probably not getting a lot of K's out of them or they'll allow a few more ER. I just don't want WHIP if we have walks already because 2 categories based on 1 stat seems a bit much.

2's fine.

Sounds good, but I'd take out WHIP if we already have BB's in one scoring way.

Perhaps instead of WHIP we can do walks and hits.

Hits allowed is an interesting statistic... but I'll consider it if everyone else is on board.

How does everyone feel about Balls and Hits replacing WHIP?

This x10000

I'm fine with more then 5x5 (in fact I prefer it over the typical 5x5). However, 20 like last year was bullshit. It was too many things, and a bunch of them (like shutouts) were too inconsequential to be given equal treatment as wins.

Use the typical 5x5, add Walks and holds for pitchers, and OPS and strikeouts for hitters.

We gots ourselves a full league gentlemen!

I figure I might as well publish the draft list now. This is totally randomized...

1. New York Costanzas
2. Backstreet Boys
3. 2 Jews 1 Penny
4. Stormtroopers
5. Huntington Liquors
6. Meat Ichiban
7. The Brain Busters
8. Best
9. Incrediable Balks
10. BlueJaysfor3rdineast
11. WhitneyHoustonAstros
12. Cleaned My Pujols
13. Megatron
14. Boston Red Skulls

Snaking order, of course.

Could we perhaps get a roll call of who is who in the league (since we're almost all using different names) and then generate a master list?

I'm Meat Ichiban.
