I support the 14 team league and moving the draft to a Sunday. All is good.
What do we think of Quality Starts as a scoring category? I have no strong leanings one way or another, but I thought I'd toss it out for discussion.
Don't like it. I don't know what a Quality Start is, and it seems like it'd be a hard one to track.
Since IP and ERA's on there I think it'd be somewhat redundant.
Sundays work for this guy as well.
IP isn't a stat we're using for scoring. I'm not a fan of it, because boosting it would be pretty easy: just pick up a bunch of starters regardless of how good they are.
Man 5x5 is so fucking lame. Baseball is fucking built on statistics, especially in the modern era; I'm not saying you gotta go twenty, but we can do better then 10.
That's why I picked 12. We're better than the standard, right? Besides, only throwing a couple extra stats in there allows the fantasy junkies to feed their love of stats without putting the casual players at a severe disadvantage.
Also, 2.5 minutes if far too long, especially when people don't show up, or leave half way through and you have to wait 2.5 minutes for multiple people every round; it really slows down the draft to an almost unbearable pace. 1.5 is really more than enough time, especially since you get all that time in between picks to make up your mind.
I understand Harthan's concern. He seems to be really excited about doing the live draft and wants to make all his picks count. How does 2 minutes sound to everyone?
You could add K's for Batter and BB's for pitchers, but I don't like averages being put in like ERA/BA/SLG. Don't know why, just doesn't tickle me pink.
I like K's for batters, as it punishes people who would start multiple big strikeout guys like Adam Dunn or Ryan Howard.
I'm not a fucking statistician, I have zero interest in keeping track of a bunch of meaninglessness numbers. You want to add a bunch of stupid ridiculous scoring categories fine, I just take my team out & start my own 5x5 league, last years league felt more like work than fun, & half the people involved stop giving a shit 3 weeks in.
Dude, it's fantasy baseball, that's the whole point. I'm not going to add any stats that are things that only statisticians and hardcore baseball care about, but adding two more simple stats would make everything a little more fun.
So just to be clear, how would everyone feel about replace triples with strikeouts? And should I leave the pitching stat as BBs, or change it to something else?
