Wrestlemania 28: Cody Rhodes (c) VS Big Show - Intercontinental Championship

Goldust won't appear at WM to interfere, he's been working behind the scenes as a Divas agent. He most likely has his hands full putting together the Divas tag match. It's possible he could become a part of the Cody/Big Show match, but unlikely since he hasn't been featured on TV in months.

It doesn't do anyone any good to have Goldust participate. Cody needs to stand on his own two legs, if he loses because of his retired brother's interference it devalues all of the work he's put into being a dominant Intercontinental champion. It also devalues Show's moment because an irrelevant talent was the factor in his big win on the grandest stage.

Cody had his moment last year, defeating Rey Mysterio decisively. Having another championship singles match at this year's 'Mania with a huge star like Show, that's plenty of positives for Rhodes. Big Show's career is winding down and a run as IC champion could only lead to good things. Hell, Cody can win it back next month if need be. Cody retaining at WM would seriously elevate him and pretty much bury Show. Does Big Show deserve to be buried after his work putting over the World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan? I don't think so. Expect Show to win the Intercontinental title, with no help from Goldust.

An ok build up but it’s certainly not anything to write home about. Big Show is fairly over on Smackdown and choosing him as Cody Rhodes’ next opponent is a very smart choice if the WWE is looking to build Rhodes some more. I might get shit for this but I see Big Show winning here and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. This way, he can focus on the World Heavyweight Championship since Sheamus will need a heel opponent if he wins at Wrestlemania. This match will likely be something we’d see on an average Smackdown so I’m not expecting too much. I don’t see the point of Rhodes continuing his reign as he hasn’t done shit with the title so it’s time to move on. Even I’m bored with him now.

Hamler’s Prediction – Big Show will win the Intercontinental Championship.

If WWE was going to do a Goldust/Cody feud, I'd think they would have already done it (ie: when Goldust was lobbying for it a few months back, or whenever that was). If WWE was seriously contemplating a brother vs. brother feud between Cody & Dustin, Wrestlemania 2012 would have been the perfect stage for it. Besides, they already did something similar with Cody vs. Booker T not that long ago. You'd think that if they were going to do a brother vs. brother feud, they would have given Booker's spot to Goldust instead. Who knows, though? ...it could still be in the works.

Anything's possible though, and I wouldn't mind seeing this happen. I like Goldust, and I think he deserves to have one more chance at getting "over" with the crowd...also maybe one more run with a single's title (such as the IC strap, I don't see Goldust with either of the World Titles...at least not this late in his career). Then again, if there was to be a Goldust vs. Cody feud on WWE TV, you'd think it would probably be an IC Title vs. Career match...with Cody going over. Goldust is obviously pretty damn far into the twilight of his career, and he might want to help get his little brother out by putting him over in his retirement match. I dunno, just a thought.

The last time I remember seeing Goldust on WWE TV is when he was feuding with Ted Dibiase Jr. over the "Million Dollar Belt", or whatever. Is that the last time he was on TV? ...if that was Goldust's final WWE feud/appearance, then that's kind of sad.

Personally, I feel that Cody will probably go over Big Show at WM (with no interference from Goldy, or anyone else for that matter). Not that it'll be a 100% clean win, but I just don't see a run-in happening. Maybe so, but if there is someone else involved it probably won't be Goldust. Who knows, though?

I think a better idea to get a feud like this going (Cody vs. Goldust) would be to have Goldust attack Cody on Raw the night after Wrestlemania, or possibly Smackdown (the Friday after 'mania). I could see Cody in the ring bragging about his win, blah blah blah...then Goldust attacks Cody from behind, or comes out to confront his brother on his "controversial" Wrestlemania win. It probably won't happen, but I feel this would work better.

Prediction: Cody Rhodes retains

Cody has everything to gain and Big Show has nothing to lose. I easily see this match as the Wrestlemania 28 opener. While I don't see this as a classic match, I do see this match where Cody can showcase his talent against the Big Show. Everything Cody has said about Show being the biggest loser on the grandest stage of them all is quite true. Give Cody the win, he deserves it.

Solid build here, my guess is that Show wins with the WMD and humiliates Cody in some fashion, but doesn't win the title as it'll be a count out.

A bit surprising that we didn't see Goldust, especially considering how the IWC were expecting him to arrive.

I was majorly impressed with Cody's selling ability. He made me believe that he was getting killed with every shot, making it easy for Big Show. He sold the angle for weeks, he sold throughout the match and, IMO, he put over the Big Show.

I gained a newfound respect for Cody after this match. He really did a tremendous job and, to me, he was a bit of a showstopper in his own right.

I agree. Rhodes sold his ass off. Rhodes is really REALLY good. He is always in character, tells a story in the ring, can work the mic, sells well. He's good.
