Would you Rather have NXT on TV than WWE Main event?

So it's not strange to hear that most wwe fan's actually hate wwe main event, i find myself not watching it most of the time, i see that main event has no point, i feel just another spot for wwe to make a little money from,
so wwe really doesn't care what bring's in the money as long as they get it? correct? so i was thinking nxt use to be hot! i enjoyed it, but it went on the internet, i would much rather have wwe main event of the internet, and have nxt on tv! nxt has it's own championship's now. they got a real good roster, and it would be best for business, like main event there's many people who don't watch nxt, but mostly the main reason is cause it's on the internet, now i don't think nxt would bring in huge rating's but i know it couldn't do worse than main event. every wwe show pull's in great number's even total diva's.
so are you with me? would you rather have nxt on tv then wwe main event? or would you rather it stay the way it is?

I think it's a great idea, to have a show that highlights the young up and coming talent instead of a re-hashed Superstars. That really what Main Event is. I think its a cool alternative. Especially for someone like me, because I'm not going out of the way to watch a dot com show. WWE needs to do something to spike the interest of the fans with new young talent.

I don't see a downside to this. I would much rather have some meaningful matches to watch, rather than a meaningless US Title match on Main Event, when the whole world knows there won't be a title change on Main Event.

To kind of piggy back on the topic of NXT (not to hijack the thread at all), but if NXT were on TV instead of Main Event, do you think it would draw higher ratings than TNA?

I don't watch Main Event. I consider it pointless.

I've always wanted to see NXT on TV, ever since it left TV. Now that its back to being a normal wrestling show...I'd much rather see it on TV. I don't like watching anything but porn online.

Bottom line- I agree 100% with your suggestion.

Main Event is on Ion. I've had my cable for two months and still haven't found Ion. I assume it is out there since you can get Ion on free TV but I don't know for sure. NXT is on the internet. I know I have the internet. I can find NXT using Google. I think I can watch it that way any time I want (does WWE keep the episodes up for a decent amount of time?). The internet is more the future of entertainment, Ion TV is kind of a joke. If you like NXT, you should be happy it is where it is.

George has a point in that internet is the future, but I still think getting NXT in front of people's television would benefit more at this point.Maybe in 5 year or so it wont but at this very moment it could.

It would show people what gems are in NXT and give them much needed exposure.I would have no problem it replacing Main Event,because although it has created some very nice matches, main event is basically a glorified version of superstars and nothing really has come out of it, I mean Ziggler and Antonio , Barret have been rulling Main Event from the beginning and they are all being missused and underappreciated when it comes to RAW/Smackdown.

I honestly would rather see NXT get a TV deal instead of Main Event. Hell I'd honestly rather NXT be on TV than Smackdown but I know SD could never get cancelled for obvious reasons.

I Love tna, but the fact that total diva's beats tna ratings so that any wwe show can beat tna if wwe will put interest and build it up, i don't see why this wouldn't beat tna ratings as well.

Yes. That's about the best I can say about that. Main Event doesn't really serve much purpose while NXT would be a great exhibition for future talent. As for the user asking whether NXT would beat TNA's ratings, yes it probably would to be honest.

If getting on TV wouldn't affect NXT's programming at all, sure. It's a great wrestling show and deserves whatever exposure it can get, as do many in its roster. However, getting on TV might tarnish some of the homegrown, sort-of DIY feel it has. I feel like it's kind of WWE's "best-kept secret" at the moment, and it's cool that way--you feel more attached to its characters and whatnot. Also, once on TV, most likely some of the producers who are behind that "leaked memo" that's being discussed in another thread would get their grimy fingers on NXT if it were on TV.

So selfish as it may be, I'm happy with NXT just where it is, because I don't want the corporate side of WWE to leak in and ruin some of the good things NXT has going for it.

I can't really get through an episode of Main Event. It definitely is not must see tv every week. NXT on the other hand would allow me to see the possible future star of the WWE. As long as they kept it the way it is now I would much rather watch NXT on tv rather than Main Event.

Main Event isn't really a must see event most of the time. As everyone figured, Vince has altered the format of the show to the point in which it's basically a much higher quality version of Superstars. That's not to say that there isn't some damn good wrestling that takes place, because there is. However, if you miss Main Event, you haven't missed anything crucial most of the time now.

I'd rather see NXT on television if I had to pick and choose. I'm not always able to catch episodes of NXT but when I do, I'm thoroughly entertained most of the time. It has a completely different vibe than other WWE shows and that's due partially to the fact that there are so many fresh faces in NXT. Generally speaking, the booking is much different and feels much different because Triple H is in charge. According to everything I've read about Triple H's management approach, he doesn't obsessively micromanage every single little aspect of every single little thing like Vince does. For instance, Triple H ultimately stands back and lets the show's writers do their work without nitpicking over everything and doesn't go exactly according to plan. For most of this year, again according to what I've read, Triple H has also done away with scripted promos and has talent doing it the old school way. They're informed to touch on certain points in their promos, but do ultimately do it themselves. When it comes to the management style, overall booking and the wrestlers themselves, NXT is a genuine alternative to "mainstream" wrestling. In some ways, it comes off more like a version of ROH, only with much higher production value.

However, if NXT is able to secure a US TV deal, I'm wondering if Vince will be content to let Triple H remain in charge to the extent he currently is. Frankly, it surprised the shit outta me that Vince ultimately gave Trips the power to have the final say over what's what in WWE developmental. Vince obviously trusts Triple H's judgment and ability. Hell, it was Vince's idea to make him an executive in the first place. Maybe it's because Vince knows him on such a personal level that has a lot to do with it.

I know Vince is pretty much always portrayed in the eyes of some fans, especially internet fans, of being the Devil but he isn't really all that different from most other old school promoters. Guys like Vern Gagne, Fritz Von Erich, Eddie Graham, Bob Geigel, Dory Funk, Sr., etc. were all men who viciously protected what was theirs to an obsessive degree. They all were obsessively dedicated to their company, which is one reason why they booked themselves as the top stars of their companies. They didn't necessarily trust anyone else to have the same level of commitment to their company. They were extremely controlling, often looked the other way if wrestlers were doing things that risked their health, sometimes screwed guys over for one reason or another, etc. With Triple H, maybe Vince sees someone who has demonstrated the same level of passion and commitment to WWE that Vince himself has; someone who'll go that extra mile to do what he thinks is....well....best for business.
