would this make orton a better face?

Dark Match Jobber
I remember someone brought up in another thread that orton might be a good face if he play mind game with heels like he did with faces when he was a heel. Would you like randy if they kept him like that and would wwe get a lot of rating if they made tweener orton the face of the compant especallys since a lot of girls thought he was hot?

I say definetly make him the face of the company. In my opinion, he is the most skilled, best looking, and he definetly gets great pops. I mean kids are cheering, alongside their parents and Cena is stale. We need something new and Orton has been on the rise since his split from Legacy.

I have to disagree about the great pops. He does get a nice reaction , but if you compare it to the attitude era, even road dogg got a bigger pop. Orton needs to change his gimmick. Its getting pretty stale. And i dont think him being " hot " has anything to do with ratings.

I don't know IMO Orton just doesn't have it, I don't know what it is but to me he has no charisma. I can't understand why he is a face at all, it just goes to show people will like anything they are told too. I think if he did that too heels like he did to faces when he was a heel, it wouldn't make him any better, he would be just as drool

I'm a huge Orton fan but since he won the title back in September his character has not been what it was prior and over the last few weeks his matches haven't been the greatest. However I believe he can be the face of the company with a couple tweaks. First I think the mind games is a good idea and second let's see him wrestle some new guys, other than Sheamus, Miz, and Cena. I like that he'll be going against CM Punk and I think him and Dolph Ziggler could put on some really good matches.

Randy Orton is almost the best out there right now. Although he needs alot more exposure. I dont think its his time right now. He needs to go away for a while and then come back. That way WWE Universe can focus on other guys, then later on bring him back. This would really give him more credibility.

For those saying Orton "doesn't have it" or "he's stale as hell"....you people are clueless...

He's consistently getting one of the loudest pops on ANY GIVEN NIGHT for the past year basically. Why would WWE fix what's not broken?

You can argue that the "best face" is one that is turned naturally, and not forced. Orton's face turn wasn't planned...the crowd basically sided with him even when he was doing his heel tactics cuz he was a badass. Look at Austin....you really think he was supposed to be the mega-face of the company? Hell no...he was supposed to be the super heel heading into his fued with Bret Hart, but the fans started cheering for him. Orton's got the same thing going for him right now, the anti-hero.

His current "viper" or psycho gimmick suits him fine. The only thing that would make it better is for him to stay off the mic.

In the words of the Iron Shiek
FUCKING BULLSHIT. I am currently watching the whole year of 1999 (and posting reviews in the old school review section) and trust me, Road Dogg is getting R-Truth song pops. They just copy his mic thing when he comes out then after that the crowd doesn't care anymore.

I think Orton is playing his role perfectly. He has got that moving like a snake thing down, he nails the "going crazy" part and I think his mic skills fit his character to a "t". That could add something to his character but he is a face, that type of role is usually for heels or Taker. Cena is still the top dog. It doesn't matter if he gets boos or cheers, it just matters that he gets a reaction. Cena still gets a huge reaction and its not like they hide the boos anymore. I don't think Randy could overcome Cena now, but maybe in the future if Cena gets injured or whatever he could but for now Randy is staying at #2. I would leave Randy the way he is right now.

I thought he over did the crazy act on raw and looked like a fool. It looks too contrived and fake and over the top, and basically lame. And that silly kick to the head thing. I just dont buy his whole act.

in response to the original poster of this thread..i didnt even read the other posts cuz man that is a great idea! good thinking they should def do that he should stalk cm punk now that hes takin out three nexus members u kno that would make goood tv in my oppinion n would help boost hsi 'badassness' austin used to fuck with mcmahan a hell of a lot n i feel like the top wwe ppl r kinda makin orton like the next stone cold u kno?

I think it's a good idea & it would be a great add on to his already over character, I think his promos also need to be short & to the point, there is no need for him to entertain the crowd for 10 to 15 mins on the mic, it just doesn't add right to his character. Plus he doesn't have enough word play to talk for that long w/out boring ppl.

He should be the face of the company, orton dont have charisma are u nuts u ever seen him as the legend killer look at his mic skills he was great, but as i seen him on the mic these days hes bringing back the legend killer mic talkin a little and his gimmick is great too it suits him

he is fine the way he is right now, i say make his promos shorter and have him insert a maniacal grin when he is done or throughout the promo that alone might enhance the gimmick apart from him have the psycho viper look already

Orton playys his role PERfeclty everyone who says hes stale are dumb. He and cena. Like the rock and scsa. Plus new superstars like miz and others wwe is doing AWESOME.

I've never ever seen this many people support Orton on an online forum. I usually have to defend him when critics call him 'blandy boreton' or other ridiculous names that I disagree with.

I do agree, however, with the idea suggested by the poster. I personally think Orton needs more mic time to connect better with the fans despite the fact that they already love him. He's too 1-dimensional right now, and that's why people criticize him: he's the vicious 'viper' who can take a beating then strike out of nowhere to get his prey. Now let's give him maniacal plans, or brilliant plots, to help develop his character and add a new dimension.

If Orton added these dimensions I think Cena might lose his number 1 spot

Isn't he already doing this? He kicks a nexus member in the head once a week. Can't really ask for more ring psychology than that.

He's doing fantastic, he just needs to be crushed a bit. Have him get destroyed on week, and then have him take a nice little vacation. The pop he'd get upon his return, especially if it was out of the blue and as venomous as ever, would be ridiculous.

They basically have turned Orton into the biggest face in the company. He does the Austin arm raises instead of his traditional Alberto Del Rio-like ones, he does the Lou Thez presses with punches and the RKO is as intense as the stunner. Just start calling him Stone Cold Randy Orton by the end of the year.

I really like watching Randy but why does he do the Angle Slam now? And I don't think he's getting stale the more punts the better. Some NXT loser is getting hospitalised every week, so stick that in your 'PG soft era' and smoke it.

. And i dont think him being " hot " has anything to do with ratings.

I was thinkling girls might actullay start watching raw because they like watching randy orton, i know when i go to the bar to watch wwe ppv i always hear the female severs and bartender comment on how hot he is.

Randy Orton is playing his role as perfect as it gets. honestly he's the only reason why i watch raw anymore since the Rock doesn't show up like Cena say's. This is a good idea tho, if he plays mind games then that would make him the most dangerous man in the WWE right now. Also for those who say he's the next Stone Cold JUST STOP IT!!! Stone Cold never looked to end people's careers like Randy does. Stone Cold just beat peoples asses, stunners them, then gives them the bird. Randy fucks you up but doesn't stop there, He punts you out of the WWE for a few months. Stone Cold never had a devestating move like the punt. Im not saying Orton's better the SCSA cause he's not, but there not the same at all.

I think im in the minority here but i think Orton's face persona would actually be helped by bringin back a bit of the cockiness from the legend killer days i feel it would give his character more appeal and a bit more substance than the ruthless word shy persona of the Viper. Don't me wrong i like the ruthlessness but if this was mixed with the cocky attitude it would bring humour into his character and enable a better connection with the fans enabling him to engage in amusing mind games with rivals like you mentioned.

The first thing I think is needed with Orton is giving him more mic time. In 2011, I have barely heard him speak for 5 minutes on screen. Even when he enters early with a mic, it goes on for 30 seconds before CM Punk breaks it up. Then again, I was always a fan of quiet, psychotic characters, which makes Orton an automatic favorite of mine.

The problem with Randy Orton is not that he is a bad face character. The main problem to his new character is that the WWE are trying their best to keep him as edgy as he was when he was a heel. When Randy Orton turned face/tweener, I am assuming that the WWE had every assumption that they would be able to make him an over face whilst keeping the same character traits that were prevalent when he was a heel.

The problem with that is that heels are edgier characters, it is that simple. Randy Orton lost his edge as soon as he raised his arms out to the site in typical Orton fashion at last year's WrestleMania. He has had nothing of substance since that moment and has been so far out of the championship picture, that I sometimes forget that he is a former main event talent. When he turned face, he effectively lost a lot of the edge that he carried and there is no way of getting that back in his current alignment. Playing mind games with your opponent is a heel trait and for that reason, it would make no sense to put that back into his character.

I don't think that Orton deserves to be the face of the company because Cena is better equipped for that role in ever single respect. Orton might still be over but he hasn't been on quite the same roll as he was last year. Cena, on the other hand, is still on top of the company and is in the main event of WrestleMania against one of the most backed heels in the company. Cena is still on top and for all intents and purposes, is a much better face than Randy Orton.
