Would Jericho, Taker etc. leaving really be that bad?

He was coughing, barely moving around, and was having trouble breathing. I'm sure he has lost alot of strength and I'm sure he will be gaining weight as time goes on. For his own sake, he needs to leave the ring.

A lot of people are citing this as evidence that Undertaker needs to or will be leaving within the next year or two. And he might leave by then. But I'm pretty sure the coughing and slowness he is showing in the ring are to play up the vegetative state angle, which he just barely recovered from.

The commentators were playing it up constantly that he is weakened or compromised in his match with Punk. It's to make it seem that Kane has a good chance of winning. I don't think that Taker has any sort of respiratory illness in real life.

To say that all the older guard wrestlers who will be retiring soon won't be missed is a lie, but to say that them leaving would deteriorate the WWE's roster... actually, that would be a lie too (cue Sheamus theme music). If you haven't taken a check on the roster yet, there is a crap load of talent that the E has at their disposal where they can pick and choose who they want to get elevated thanks to the help of NXT. Hell, the E has already foreseen the amount of talent leaving shortly that they've signed many talents to join FCW such as Alex Kozlov and Tyler Black so when the next roster shift happens, they'll be able to do the switches again with ready-made stars.

There have been guys in the mid-card that have or currently having a feud with a high-caliber main eventer to get them noticed (i.e. Kofi Kingston and The Miz)... these are the men that will be able to make the transition. There are guys in the lower card that have dabbled in the mid-card and can move up (i.e. Zack Ryder and Yoshi Tatsu). Good thing is, the people will believe these movements on the roster because the E has done some preparations beforehand. No-one will have to worry about established stars or veterans either, because you still have John Cena, Randy Ortong & CM Punk at the top... with someone like Kane being THE veteran of the business (and deservingly so).

If anything, the WWE has an overdose of talent in their locker room that roster cuts could be made and they wouldn't affect the future of the company. No need to worry, we'll be right for another 5 years at the absolute least talent-wise.

this is actually a semi unique moment in time in wrestling with wrestlers who are declining...

from those who watched since the 80s, how many old time wrestlers from the 70s/80s actually retired in the 90s from the wwf/wwe? Very few, for those who did leave the wwf only went to the wcw or even start legend promotions and wrestle the indi scene till they were physically unable to wrestle no more....

but now there is a vaccume, there isn't an option of going anywhere else.
Also keeping in mind retiring wrestlers don't necessarily mean they leave the company. WWE has a long history of having people working for them in many compacities, Gorilla Monsoon a WWWF/WWF maystay had a lifetime contract with them... many former wrestlers are now road agents and trainers, or work in the office.

A few things I don't understand. Everyone says Edge is basically done and needs to retire but then say that Christian needs to be a Main Eventer. I like Christian. I actually like them both. But If and when Christian becoms a Main Eventer, how much time does he really have? I wouldn't count him as a long term answer to Jericho, Taker, Edge etc leaving. Same with Matt Hardy (if he even has a job next week), although the Hardy's I think are a little younger.

I will be very very sad to see Jericho go. I just need one more Y2J run before he leaves though and I may be a little happier. I was HOPING that was going to happen with his elimination from the 6 pack.

But Taker is a given. Even if he doesn't RETIRE, he won't be a major player for much longer, probably not after wrestlemania. (btw, why does John Cena need any extra push by being the one to possibly end Taker's streak? really? Cena? Doesn't feel right at all.)

I think Edge has a little more left in him, I just think they once again need to revamp his gimmick. Why is there a "Rated-R Superstar" in the PG-era? His gimmick allows him to do NOTHING in this era. Revamp it, start over, i guarantee he has more in him.

HHH still has stuff left in him. He can do whatever they need, face, heel. Doesn't matter, he's got it all and always has. Only a devastating injury will take him down (which is more possible with him every year though, i'll admit)

Kane is gone soon, I agree with whoever said this current story is a "thank you" story to Kane. Mysterio is gone soon too. This knee injury he won't get fixed will be his downfall. He's afraid to get it fixed that it might end his career, but eventually without the surgery it'll end his career anyway. He had a good one, but its almost over, if not already.

They DO have some young up and coming talent, but I gotta admit, its not all solid. John Morrison, we all agree his in ring ablility is great. But he's just not getting past this pre-U.S. title stage. Daniel Bryan will be great, possibly the future Jericho. The Miz is great already. Wade Barret is amazing, but we all know at least half of the nexus will either fizzle out or be stuck in the Matt Hardy/Christian level AT BEST their whole careers. I'm looking at you Heath Slater and David Otunga. Justin Gabriel is here to stay, and Sheffield will PROBABLY be around a while, but I personally feel he has as much to offer as A-Train besides the back hair. But I didn't really watch NXT and he hasn't done much in Nexus, so I haven't seen much of his ability either. I think Tarver is un-likable. Not in the I don't like HHH cuz he's a heel way, I just think he is un-likable. So these next few years will be very interesting seeing who will stay and go, who is good and not. And who we're gonna love, or love to hate.
