Would a one-on-one Elimination Chamber match ever work?

No, it wouldnt work because its designed for multiple combatants. A simple one on one match would be no different than a hell in a cell or steel cage match. I would however love to see a team style elimination match similar to war games/survivor series, with all members of the opposition needing to be eliminated in order to win. A dream match for me would be Orton/HHH/Batista/Swagger vs. Edge/Christian/Jericho/CM Punk

Oh man when I saw this it got me thinking. I have quickly read this so I don't if anyone said this before. I think this match could work one on one with a few new rules added to the match.

If you can remember one of the worse ppv's ever December to Dismember the hardcore weopens Elimination chamber right. Hope this makes sens.

But what if you use the clock and the pods but instead of wrestlers you have weapons and a ref in the pods.

So you start off one on one and can't get the pin fall or submission untill the ref gets unlock from the pod so every count down if the light don't show on the ref a pod opens and a table is in there or a sledge hammer ect ect ... you get my point.
I have no clue what I would call this match but it does sound good I just hope its not too gimmick or hard for a normal viewer to understand the rules.

The only part that is tailored to multiple opponents are the glass pods the wrestles wait in until they're released. Remove them and the word 'Elimination' from the title and there is no reason why a One on One 'Chamber' Match couldn't work as a main event in the same way Hell in a Cell does.

A match that could work would be a high flyer vs a heavyweight. Mysterio Vs Batista could work very well. Rey could really utilise the chamber to be more highflying and daredevil and Batista could hit some heavy slams on the steel floor. That is something the Hell in a Cell doesn't offer. The cell only has walls and, ocassionally, the roof is used. The roof itself isn't advertised as being painful, it's the potential drop through the cage which sells. In a Chamber match, A spinebuster or Batista Bomb on the steel floor would look career ending.

This match could work perfectly well.

You remove the pods, and get rid of the Elimination and you have .... Hell in a Cell.

How will they got on top of the roof if the "chamber" is enclosed; no doors, no exits. The only way would be if one of the combatants broke the wall and climbed the outside, but regardless it would still be no different than hell in a cell.

The only difference is that there is a floor to be used, but that's too slight of a difference to justify making a whole new gimmick out of it
