Would a Jack Swagger/Beth Phoenix power couple alliance interest you?

Yeah, I know this is kind of a random thread to make, but I'm bored.

After watching Smackdown I decided that I really enjoyed watching the new and improved, calm, confident, and most of all SERIOUS Jack Swagger. I'm really buying into him as a legit "competitor", and I think he really deserves a good title reign. Unfortunately I was exposed to a spoiler regarding the title change, but that didn't seem to matter as last night's episode really held my interest.

Now Beth Phoenix has always been my favourite female wrester. But to just simply have her wrestle matches seems like a waste, because there's so much more they can do with her character. She's a special attraction, like Chyna was. She eliminated The Great Khali from the Royal Rumble!! (Although doesn't anybody find it suspicious that in the pre-Mania PPV Battle Royal they once again went back to "needing everybody to eliminate him"....lol) She's good for doing extra stuff on the side, and she needs retribution for the horrible Glamarella experiment. The only thing that needs to fall into place in this made-up scenario is Beth winning the title, as a babyface off Michelle McCool (which has been long overdue given she's been talking about it for what, 4 months at least?) Talk about a dead-end storyline. Geez. But once she has the title already then she could turn heel and align with Jack Swagger, being the power couple with both holding titles.

Am I on to anything here or am I just rambling? Does anybody enjoy this idea?

I would love this. I am a big Swagger fan, and anyone on this forum can attest to me being a big Beth Phoenix fan. (She was supposed to win MITB, you know. )

Power couples always make for great television. Hell, a power couple turned Vickie Guerrero into one of the most over heels, ever. I love the idea of Phoenix and Swagger running roughshod over the women's and men's divisions on Smackdown, becoming completely dominant. And really, this could work as heel or face alignments depending on who they're booked against.

I'm all for anything that will get Beth Phoenix on my TV screen, and this idea could elevate both competitors. Love it.

I don't think this idea would work. Phoenix is in the middle of a major face turn, and she seemed to get a pretty loud pop from the crowd last night. Smackdown has 1 major heel diva, and 1 major face diva. Turning Beth heel again wouldn't make to much sense. Besides, she was growing stale as a heel, and her face turn has been refreshing. If Natalya was still a heel, then this MIGHT work, but The hart Dynasty seems to be turning face now.

Swagger doesn't need a woman by his side. He has the perfect gimmick, and the amateur background thing going for him. The only way I could see this possibly working is if Swagger holds on to the belt for a long time(6 months or more) because if you want to pair him with Beth so quickly, the whole couple thing would feel too rushed.

Swagger and Beth are doing just fine on their own. They don't need each other.

I think that this would be awesome because Swagger and Phoenix could potentially be the best power couple since Edge and Lita! Both of them can play the role of an arrogant heel champion, but as much as I would like to see this happen there is one little problem.

Face divas. Smackdown needs them. Beth has to be a face right now, at least until the draft. If Beth turned heel, who could be the top face diva? I believe Mickie is still taking time off from the ring for a leg injury or something, and that would leave Tiffany as the only face diva on Smackdown. She's good, but not top face material yet. Beth needs to remain a face for now.

So assuming that they have sent another face diva over to Smackdown to fill the top face spot, then I'd be all for this idea. Otherwise they would either have to do a face power couple in this scenario, or wait until after the draft to begin the angle, assuming WWE would do this storyline in the first place. I really like this idea though. Swagger as World Champion and Beth as Womens Champion, in a power couple storyline.... I'd want to see it happen if it could, maybe after the draft.

I give this a low chance of working. You either have to turn Swagger face or turn Phoenix heel and they have invested so much into turning Phoenix face. I don't know if I can buy Swagger as a face because his whole personna screams "cocky". I believe he can be a character similar to Orton from 2003-2006 which was great. It could happen but I don't see it happening anytime soon. A face power couple would be nice and I wouldn't mind throwing Edge out there as a possibility just to see how well it could work since he is a face now.

In all honestly, I would love to see another power couple in WWE. They have been coming up short on that for a while, and the combination of Beth Phoenix and Jack Swagger does sound storyline driven.

But what has already been said is the fact Swagger is a heel and Beth is coming off as face. It wouldn't make sense therefore it wouldn't work right now.

And something else needs to be considered. Neither need that kind of push. Swagger already has the most coveted title on Smackdown..though I would like to see some kind of duo between him and another chick..it's just not going to happen with Beth. The power couple storyline usually just works for someone gunning for the title, not necessarily holding it at the time (Edge, Booker T, etc).

Actually I can't remember when a World Champion needed a lady friend to put him over...and I don't recall a champion putting a diva over that wasn't already at her peak.

Well you could say the whole McMahon-Helmsley era was a perfect example of that.

Even though HHH had already been crowned the champion way before that angle started, by hooking up with Stephanie, it made his ascension into the ME that much more... i don't know, 'believable'? I'd only just started watching WWE in 1998, and by the summer of '99 i was really having trouble accepting HHH as the champion. Once he joined up with Stephanie however, ii found it easier to acceot him as the top dog.

This also helped Stphanie get over big time, as before hand during her angle with Test, it really didn't seem like anybody cared about her character. She'd ben abducted, tortured, and smacked round the head during her engagement, but no one seemed to feel any sympathy for her. Then she turned heel with HHH and away she went.

Would i want to see Swagger and Beth? I'd love to see Beth on TV a lot more, couldn't honestly say i'm interested in an increase in my Swagger intake, but for the most part i'd have to say that if they were going to follow this route, they'd have to wait a while until there's more face divas for SD to work with. To have Beth slowly turn face and then immediately turn heel again would just seem rushed and poorly executed from the fans' persepective. So let Swagger begin his title reign, make it all about him to begin with, and if they feel the need to add a little something extra to his character, then Beth would probably make a fine addition.

And for the record, i enjoyed Glammorella very much.

I really can't see Beth needing another guy. Look at how her and Santino turned out. The Santino-Beth thing turned out to be a joke for them. Both were better off alone. I think Swagger would be better off with Vickie. She kinda has a a lisp thing going already. They seemed destined for each other. With her cougar splash, and his swagger bomb, its density...lol. I mean destiny.

Both should just remain single. Swagger I can finally take more seriously and whilst Beth is embarking on the Babyface route throwing those two together wouldn't go well from a fans stand point.
