Would a hologram work in WWE?

search youtube for "tupac hologram" I was wondering if something similar would work for dead wrestlers, I think you could probably have rey come out ina low rider and eddie in the car or w/e, I think it requires for the lights to be dim in order to work though.

Based on the cost not being that bad for someone in Vince's stature, I'd say absolutely go for it. But it would absolutely depend on the performer. I'm 100% sure Martha Hart would never go for it, but it'd be nice for an Eddie hollogram. It would also have to be somewhere said wrestler had visited at least once. Tupac performed multiple times at Coachella. It was awesome to watch and I'd be very interested to see it happen in wrestling.

yeh...no....just no.

But it would be kinda cool for some undertaker mind games, like, having him appear in hologram form....that would be kinda messed up, and cool

Tupac's hologram while able to move side to side was in a station position front to back. Having Rey drive a car out with Eddie would probably be too costly and nearly impossible at this point. The reason it worked for Tupac is they had area to set up the background on the stage to make such a show possible. Where would WWE set up the backdrop to make the illusion work? All it was was a glass screen in the background to reflect Tupac's 2d image. It wasn't even technically speaking a real hologram considering Holograms are 3D.

The next point is even if it was possible to do this would WWE waste it on a pay per view or Raw? It costed Dr Dre $100,000 - $400,000 to produce the segment we seen at Coachella. If they were doing a tribute at say the WWE Hall of Fame of deceased inductees it might work but the idea of projecting a dead star in a moving car is probably not possible or far too costly at the present time.

Lastly people are already questioning the morals of those that would use dead celebs like this. If it makes the living family of said stars more money i say it should be up them. Would the Guerrero's want to have their uncle/son/dead husband used this way? Would Vickie want them to? There are a lot of variables in question but who knows. As technology expands we might one day see it. I just dont think now what you said is even possible. Good Thread though. Surprised there isn't a few on this topic already if there isnt.

yeagh I was wondering if it would work with eddie, but I understand it would upset some people, tupacs mother said the hologram was amazing, the only place I see setting this up would be in a backstage segment, which would be a huge waste of money, undertaker mind games would be great, but he could bring the hologram in of his self instead of some one dead.

I heard magicians use this all the time, and some of the tricks they used it on, was light with out any dark lighting used at coachella.

is this a real legitimate post??? Are you that naive??? What would the point of this be? Why would they bring back eddie at all? The negative reaction alone for bringing back a dead wrestler to cash in would be horrible.... honestly just no no no no no no no no no no...

okay i think this would work if they did a whole match on it
at WrestleMania for instants imagine Curt Henning Vs FLYIN Brian Pillman vs
Owen Hart vs. Eddie Guerrero in a fatal four way elimination match
w Bobby the brain Heenan , gorrilla Monsoon, and Vince Mcmahon doing Commentary and at the end for the finale have Andre the Giant come out and choke slam all of them! now that would be AWESOMEexspensive as hell but awesome......... I could also see a cheaper way of emboding it in to WWE
programming, WWE could simply use it to induct Hall of Famers who have passedI could visualize Macho Man Randy Savage getting Inducted in hologram form again awesome!

The could bring him back, it'd get all silent, he'd just stand there for a couple minutes and then scream, "I lieeeeeed."

Seriously, it wasn't a real hologram of Tupac, it was just a projection. That's what an image on a screen is called, a projection. Could they do a projection of a dead guy? Yes, yes they could.

Should they? Only if Tupac wrestles.

The science behind the hologram would make a hologram moving forward in front of a live crowd absolutely impossible. The "hologram" was actually projected on a screen,so it looks 3D but it's actually 2D. It would be impossible for the screen to be in the car,and it would be impossible for the thing to move forward and not have the crowd see the screen.

I wouldn't want to see any hologram used in Wrestling. It wouldn't make much sense and it's disrespectful. Let the deceased rest in peace. The only person i would even consider saying yes to would be once Vince McMahon passes away. Because of course things wont be the same without him and i think everyone will always view the business as his. A surprise firing could be done.

I'd love to see something like this for the Hall of Fame ceremony at Wrestlemania, I'd especially would love for them to pull a hologram of Macho Man, that would be sweet, give the feel that he's there at the event.

holograms would be crazy for an Undertaker mind game, have the holograms appear in various spots in the arena such as the stage area of the ramp, in the crowd, in the broadcast booth just to freak out Michael Cole.

It's sort of distasteful unless done really well.

2pac's lifestyle and the way he's been portrayed postmortem, it fits him and you know that it was more a tribute by his fellow artists rather than a cashgrab.

For some stars, I could see this being a tribute... Owen Hart I think is a bad choice, the circumstances around his death make me think they should never celebrate his death, but rather his life and showing us a 'ghost' of Owen does nothing but remind many of us of that night when the camera focuses on JR as he tells us that Owen had died. Someone like Eddie is different just because he lived his life a little more on edge, so I could see something like this, it wouldn't be a far cry from having him as a legend in WWE games.

The Holograms for Taker, I agree fit his style and aren't far from things we've seen him pull off, but again, the cost isn't worth it, it either would be expensive or look incredibly cheesy, and unfortunately, his career doesn't have long enough left or the exposure needed to make it a gimmick worth the cost.

Wow some people arent really understanding you very well. I think that it would work very well for the HOF, say have a Randy Savage hologram to make it look like he is there. It would also work for an Eddie hologram for a Rey entrance at wrestlemania, that would be awesome. So yeah I think a hologram would work great on the grander stages in the WWE

No. There is a huge difference in a concert and a wrestling match

With that said, it wouldn't be the most unlikely thing to see something like this at a future Wrestlemania. Either for the performances of singers or during the Hall of Fame for departed wrestlers, that way they can be on stage in a way with the rest of the inductees. Could you imagine having the screen of Yokozuna next to someone like Edge, it would do some justice to show the scale of Yokozuna for example. They could, when it does eventually happen use these in the Hall of Fame building for everyone who has ever been inducted.

The only way I could see this working would be for a Hall of Fame induction or when they bring all the Hall of Famers out during Wrestlemania to introduce them to the crowd. Obviously, anything involving wrestling wouldn't work. A ring entrance would, but I don't see the need for it. Honestly, while it's interesting to think about, I just don't see it in wrestling.... not yet, anyway.

I thought of exactly the idea. A hologram has never been used before in the WWE and think that this could be exciting for the fans. After all they are all about entertainment. The idea of Undertaker using it as mind games i also a very good idea. It could be used to get inside someones mind as he that is what he is well known for when he is engaged in a feud. However, I think that the tought of haveing Eddie Guerrero could be used for someone like Rey Mysterio or his daughter Shaul if she ever makes it to the WWE. It could be used as motivation if supposed they were in some sort of championship match. As long as WWE creative come up with something like that, it would be really cool.

GM via hologram...!

I think the entrance is built in such a way that a hologram would work..

I got cold shills seeing the hologram at coachella and started wondering how it would work in wwe, I understand that the only chance they have doing it is near the entrance, although there is several monitors around the arena that could project the image, but I think the lights would need to be darkened.

It would be incredibly difficult, thats for sure. To do these holograms you need a sheet of plastic of glass to reflect the image. Then you need a projector. The Tupac hologram worked at Coachella because it was under a very controlled environment. And even then it had its issues, like Pac moonwalking for no reason. As much as I'd love to see Eddie back, I wouldnt want it to be a dissaster. Maybe they could do something with him hosting a show for the new WWE channel since they can copy people's voices too.

Someone said that it would be cool to have an Eddie Guerrero hologram, but it does't have to be him riding a car, it can be something like him standing on toe top of the ramp, it would be cool if somehow Eddie's hologram confronts Vicky and tells her something like Dolph or Swagger will never be as good as him, or something similar, i think it can work with any supertstar that passed away if the angle is done right.......

no he didn't.... why do people talk outta their ass.... Coachella never happened while dude was alive.

The hologram? I don't know, for an entrance, why?

I don't get the point? Maybe this is equally as dumb but maybe have 2 legends holograms put on a match. I mean look at the way his chain swayed and things like that, they accounted for gravity and realism real well. So maybe that would be more interesting to me, I don't know what to do about sound though. Would be weird...

Or like when someone comes back... you turn the lights down and have the hologram come down the ramp at the dude, and then when it flips on he disappears and the dude is behind him and just beats the shit outta him lol

it doesn't even need to be eddie or someone dead, like someone above said it could be taker or even kane playing mind games, I doubt theyd waste about a million dollars for a kane segment though, they done similar segments with less expensive equipment though, I remember similar mind games being played with cardboard cut-outs, but those are surely less expensive than a hologram effect, I always thought magicians where poor besides the famous ones, and they all use this during some of their tricks.

you are completely right... Them taking this on tour charging mad money for tickets and banking off his name, especially people who didn't get along with him at the time he died. Def doesn't come across as a cash grab wtf u know about how Pac's estate has been handled since he passed

If its done right it could work, but not with any wrestlers who are deceased, have some respect for their legacies (only time this could be fitting is at the HOF).
There is two ways they could use this technology:
1st: A wrestler using it to play mind games on a other (ie: Undertaker and Kane psyching their opponents by not being where they supposed to be or in 2 places at once, using it to make it look like they burning, walking through fire without the danger of stunt backfiring.
2nd: They could use it as shadowy figure like a Anonymous General Manager, that you could hear and see, but can't touch, a lot better than the Laptop concept, on the plus if it doesn't work you could change the appearance and character until its right.

I actually read a lot about this thing and it turns out you can actually re-create thier voice and make the hologram say whatever you like them to so personally i think the only respectable way to do it in th WWE would be in the H.O.F ceremony. For the pros that cant be there create a hologram of them either in a suit or even the way everyone remembers them and have them give their own acceptance speech. That would be a great way to do a thing like that but there are so many that if one gets one they all would have to get one and thats a bit of cash so that most likely won't happen, but damn that would be sweet.
